Foxy's Community Post #16 (A fond farewell)

Rate this Entry

It's this time of the week again... and it's a big one. Get ready for things to get emotional.

Grey Knightmare, one of the founders of the site and long time technical administrator has decided to step down from the everypony staff. His reasons are his own, so all I can do is say goodbye. So... goodbye... but that's just not enough. Not for you. Not for such a long standing staff member. Oh no, this is going to be all out. So before I bore you all with my speech, some words from the other staff members.

The first time we ever really shared a sentence was when I had a technical problem, and almost as soon as I had posted it, out of nowhere, Grey was there, asking me if I had this setting and that setting. In the end, the problem I had was over as soon as it began, and that was the first impression I got of Grey Knightmare. And that impression I got was quick, and helpful.

It wasn't until I joined the staff that I truly realised how much work Grey actually does for the site, there's always a little tweak here or there that's being fixed by him almost everyday, solved so efficiently some users may not even notice there was a glitch or anything in the first place. Productivity has always been one of Grey's many talent of achieving, and the testing work done from the Beta forums to the themes, from setting up the forum chat to fixing the smaller problems. Not once have I ever noticed a delay in his work or a halt in his productivity. When he needs to do something, he gets doing it straight away. I'm sure that his successor will carry on his legacy unless it's me and Grey will therefore always be a part of everypony.com

I'd love to say more, but I don't think I know as much about him as the rest of the staff does >.>

So with that, I wish our site technician the very best of luck in the future, and pray he achieves as much in his own personal life as he did on the site! (I want hugz at BUCK btw, Grey needs to give me hugz)

Without you, Everypony would not have been the same. It has truly been such an honor and privilege to have worked with you.
For everything you’ve done for the site and the community as a whole, I thank you.
Now that you have more free time, you better use it on the forums.

It's sad to see you step down, Grey. But I'm sure the person who is to replace you will do a very admirable job.

I'm sure the other staff will make their comments in the appropriate places. Now, for me...

When I first came here, I met you on the radio. Finding out you ran this place, I was amazed you'd even talk to us guys all casually, making sure things were ok. I've not had much experience with chats and forums, but I rarely ever got the chance to talk to an administrator on a website. When you accepted my application to be DJ, I was overjoyed, I wanted to work and make this place awesome. As time went on, as events happened, I could see what kind of leader you were, and I knew that the site would always be on the right path with you in charge. When you made me an admin, I couldn't believe it. I always thought myself unworthy of the role, yet strived to be all I could be. Time went on, events happened and suddenly I was thrust in charge of the site. I admit that I got overwhelmed. I made mistakes which cost us dearly, both on and off the site. You returned to the staff to make sure the technical aspects were kept in place, but I still turned to you for advice. You always told me what I needed to hear, made sure I thought about everything and didn't jump the gun, nor leave things too late. Thank you. Thank you for everything. For the advice, the friendship, the inspiration and the memories. Thank you for leading this site, and I promise on behalf of the entire staff that we will care for it with all the hope and effort that you put into it, and then some, just for you.

Don't worry though, everypony, he's assured us his stepping down is from the staff only. Still expect him to frequent the site and its various areas!

With the loss of Grey, there is a third admin spot that has been left clear. Talking with Grey and Berry, we have decided the best choice is ZEPHYR. So please, congratulate Zephyr on his new role in the big boy horse shoes. Berry, Zephyr and I are working hard to ensure that the site and the staff becomes the best it can be, so if you have any troubles or suggestions, don't hesitate to send them to one of us.

I'd also like us to congratulate Mike406! He has won the Cheerilee's Gold Star award for the Staff for the month of July! His work for the site in both the technical aspects and his attention to the sites discussions has truly shown he's earned it!

Finally, a quick shoutout for Zephyr and Bounty from Lightning Mustang (SoulEmber) for helping out with his first DJ shift!

Regular community posting continues next week. Until then everypony.

Holy panic attack! For a second there I mistook "stepping down" for "leaving"! I am SO glad that's not the case... 0.0

I'm glad I'll still be seeing Grey around here. :)

    As for you, Zephyr...

    -sniff-

    They grow up so fast...

I can't think of a whole lot to add to what was already quoted from me, other than Grey better make a blog on here for fun (and not teaching others how to use the blog section xD) and I better see him in the EP Chat! Congratulations again on the Gold Star Mike, and for the promotion Zephyr! I expect great things from you both. You have a very large grey bar to hit

He was a great admin who would sort out any problem as soon as it came up. It's sad to see you step down.

But congratulations to Zephyr and Mike.
