Hi there! It's your bud, Affection. A lot of people were wondering what fiction Zephyr Wind received, and I was the one who wrote it! Anyway, since some of you wanted to know about it, Here you go! Here's "My Love for You"
Summary: Fluttershy gets a visit from a colt from her past and her feelings for him are revived. Can she get the courage to tell him?
The first light of dawn broke the horizon over Equestria. This gift from Celestia rose and reached Ponyville, showering the town with a morning glow like no other. One pony always woke up early to see this wonder. She had only a glimpse of it over the trees, but savored every moment it was present. A sunrise, as many ponies loved to call it. A sunrise was a present, a gift to the residents of Equestria, as said before. In the morning, the sun had a different orange color than the normal white heat color. It was a sight to behold at such a time in the morning. This certain pony sighed happily and continued her work with the animals, tending and caring to each early riser. It was her favorite thing to do in the morning. In fact, it was her favorite thing to do period! She loved animals and their kind hearts and getting to take care of them everyday was not a tedious task, but an enjoyable experience.
After this task had been completed, the yellow haired pony felt a poke at her leg. She looked down, seeing Angel with a frown on his face. Fluttershy greeted him with a warm smile.
"Good morning, Angel. Oh, did I wake you up? I'm sorry" the white bunny shook his head. "Then what is it? Do you have something to tell me" Angel nodded his head and pointed at his wrist. "Your wrist hurts?" Angel shook his head. He, once again, imitated a clock for the sake of saving time. "The clock is broken?" Angel slapped a hand on his forehead. He dashed back into the cottage and grabbed the stopwatch and started to poke it furiously. Fluttershy, gasping, realized her mistake. "Pinkie Pie wanted help with the sweets today! Oh, goodness, I'm late! Thank you Angel!" she said before running into town. Fluttershy sprinted, her flowing pink hair swishing behind her.
As much as Fluttershy loved the wind breezing in her face, she had no time to stop and admire it. Pinkie Pie was always up early making treats for everypony and it would be bad if Fluttershy ran late. She dashed into Ponyville's square, not aware of the colt that walked in front of her. CRASH! She smacked face first into the pony in front of her. Both of them tumbled and fell to the ground, Fluttershy lay on top of the hurt pony. She scrambled up and bowed her head low.
"I-I'm so sorry, sir! I didn't know you where there!" the colt got up and shook off the small pain in his head. "I'm so very....sorry....." Fluttershy's voice fell silent as the pony turned around. There was a tall colt with blue hair and a short cut black mane and tail. He stretched, extending his wings as he did. Fluttershy, embarrassed, said nothing as she watched him brush back his mane, straightening out the loose hairs. He faced a furiously blushing Fluttershy and smiled.
"Hey, no problem! I do that myself sometimes!" he said with a warm smile. Fluttershy whimpered and sank back a bit. She knew this particular pony, but she doubted that he knew her. "My name's Zephyr Wind. Sorry for being in your way! Looked like you were in a rush! Wait a minute........Fluttershy? Is that you?" the nervous yellow mare nodded slightly. "Wow! I haven't seen you since our days in Flight Camp! How have you been?" Fluttershy hid her face, afraid that he would see the blood in her cheeks. “Are you okay? Did I hurt you?” Fluttershy ran past and galloped away, leaving a confused Zephyr to sit there and watch as his classmate disappear. "Still shy, if I remember correctly!" he chuckled, looking up at the sky. "Now to find that lazy grey pony. I swear, if he doesn't pay me back soon!" he muttered to himself before he bolted into the sky.
Fluttershy watched Zephyr dash into the clouds and she puffed out, slumping against the wall of a house. She had definitely known him from flight camp. How could she forget the enormous crush she had on him the first time she laid her eyes on the slick, smooth blue hair. Fluttershy wiped a tear away as she remembered him on the last day. She remembered him leave and say good bye to everypony, including her. She also recalled thinking that she would never see him again
Fluttershy shook her head and starting to sprint now for Sugarcube Corner. She arrived, panting as she burst through the door. Pinkie Pie stopped mixing a bowl of cake mix and smiled wide at her friend.
"Hey, Fluttershy! Thanks for coming! Boy, was I worried about you! I thought you had gotten kidnapped or something and I said 'Where's Fluttershy?' and I started to worry but here you are! Are you ready to bake some goodies?!"
"Huh? Oh, yes. Yes I am" said Fluttershy, still in a daze after literally bumping into her childhood crush. Pinkie Pie tilted her head sideways, lifting one eyebrow.
"You okay, Fluttershy? You seem to have your head in the clouds!"
"What? Oh, it’s nothing. I just met one of my old friends from flight camp”
“Cool! Did ya talk to him?”
“Well…..no. You see, I-” she stopped herself before she could go any further. Pinkie Pie was the best at keeping secrets, she just didn’t want to tell her.
“Alrighty then! I hope you brought your appetite, because I’m ready to get cooking!” the pink pony exclaimed. Fluttershy nodded in approval and they went to work, mixing and baking.
Fluttershy said her goodbyes to Pinkie and left Sugarcube Corner, braver than she had been going in. Pinkie Pie could cheer up anypony who was feeling down. No matter if it was baking or getting thrown a surprise party, Pinkie Pie knew how to lighten things up. As Fluttershy rounded a corner behind a house, she saw him. Fluttershy quickly ducked back behind the wall and panicked, all the bravery leaving her instantly. She slumped, cradling her head in her hooves. Her usually shy nature had taken over her now, thanks to him.
“Hey Fluttershy! Who ya hidin from?” Fluttershy jumped and looked up at a hovering Rainbow Dash.
“Who? Me? No, I wasn’t….” Rainbow Dash peered around the corner, her eyes lighting up as she did.
“No way! Is that who I think he is?!” she asked her blushing friend. Fluttershy nodded, trying to hide the blush forming again in her cheeks. “Wow! Zephyr Wind! Hey, didn’t you have the BIGGEST crush on him back at flight camp?”
“Rainbow Dash!”
“Oops, sorry. I just remember you ALWAYS looking at him fly-”
“Rainbow Dash!!!” the rainbow pony scratched her head and apologized again.
“Well, why don’t you talk to him?”
“I can’t. I think….I think I still like him” she said quietly. Rainbow leaned closer.
“What was that? I couldn’t really hear you”
“I…..oh…..I think I still like him!” she blurted out, immediately hiding her face from her shocked friend.
“What?! Really?! That’s great! Come on, let’s go talk to him!” she said, grabbing Fluttershy’s hoof.
“No, Rainbow Dash, I can’t”
“Come on!” she repeated as she started to drag Fluttershy out to the square. The two got many confused looks and stares as Rainbow Dash pulled a struggling Fluttershy against her will. “Hey! Windy!” Zephyr Wind turned and smiled.
“Well, look who it is. The best darn flier in all of Equestria!”
“You know it!” Rainbow laughed. Fluttershy scrambled up, hiding behind the rainbow tail of her friend.
“How long has it been?” he asked.
“Since the last day of flight camp! I remember how slow you were!”
“Tsk, tsk, oh Rainbow, still as cocky as I remember. And didn’t I beat you in a race?”
“That was a fluke!”
“Sure it was, Rainbow”
“Anyway! You remember Fluttershy, right?” she asked before stepping aside to reveal a cowering Fluttershy. She looked up, squeaked in fear, and scrambled to hide back behind Rainbow Dash, again.
“Yes, I think I do. We bumped into each other this morning, actually”
“Really, because Fluttershy here has-”
“Hey! Zephyr!” a colt called. Zephyr Wind turned around to see his close friend floating there with his arms crossed. He was grey haired and his mane was a red and light blue combination. His tail mirrored. To top it all off, he wore the infamous outfit of a Wonderbolt. The colt floated down and smiled at Zephyr. Rainbow Dash stared in awe as the Wonderbolt walked over to the group.
“You! I’ve been looking everywhere for you!”
“Yeah? And why is that, Zeph?”
“Because YOU owe me ten bits from last week!”
“Do I now? I remember you owing ME ten bits”
“No, because you bet I couldn’t clear 20 clouds in 30 seconds and I did it. But where were you when I finished it? Gone! You left without saying anything else!”
“Alright, here’s your money” he said before reaching into his pocket and tossing a bag towards him. “And bye the way, it’s good to see you too!”
“Yeah, it’s always fun to hang out with you. Oh! I’m being rude. Rainbow Dash, Fluttershy, this is-”
“A WONDERBOLT!” Rainbow Dash shouted, surprising the grey colt. “Where are the other Wonderbolts? Have you ever flown through a cloud? Do you like Cloudsdale? Do you wanna see my new tricks?! How’s performing with the Wonderbolts? How AWESOME is it?!” Rainbow Dash started spitting out questions, making the grey pony reel back. Zephyr smacked his hoof against his face.
“And still as obsessed with the Wonderbolts” He looked back at Fluttershy. “Hey, are you okay?”
“…..yes”
“Okay, I was starting to think that I had done something wrong!”
“No, you haven’t…..”
“Good. I wouldn’t to hurt someone as beautiful as you” Fluttershy froze. Did he really just say that? Did Fluttershy just get a compliment from Zephyr Wind? Zephyr chuckled. “Well, I have to go save my friend from being trampled by Rainbow. I hope to see you soon!” Fluttershy didn’t respond. All she did was stand there motionless, her cheeks rose red. Zephyr smiled again and went over to Rainbow, dragging her away to her dismay. The two walked away, Zephyr laughing as his friend became dizzy. Rainbow Dash trotted back, standing up straight with a satisfied smirk on her face.
“That was awesome! Did you see him, Fluttershy? He looked so cool!” Fluttershy said nothing to her excited rainbow friend. It was decided. Fluttershy was going to take action. She was going to tell him how she felt.
“Hey, Rainbow?”
“Hmm? What’s up?”
“Umm, I think…..uh….I think I want to tell Zephyr….” She said shyly. Rainbow Dash stared wide eyed.
“Really?! That’s awesome! Come on, let’s give you a makeover!! Off to Rarity’s!” Rainbow said, gripping Fluttershy’s hoof again and dragging her in the direction of Rarity’s boutique. Fluttershy was scared. Rainbow Dash wasn’t the one to trust a secret with, she knew that. In the back of her mind, she thought about how this whole thing would unravel and spiral down in chaos. ‘I’m going to regret this’ she thought as they neared the boutique.
