And so it happened to you too... It was quite for-see-able, as i perfectly understand why you are leaving - i left for the same reason. Old go... new come. As the children grow, so do the adults, and, after a while, they become the deceased ancestors that founded the empire in which their children spend their time. Everypony was a village, now a town. Who knows what the future of this forum is with the present admins, but if it countinues like this it'll be a very bright future.

In one of your first posts you said "Slow down, even Rome wasn't built in a day.". I find that quite fitting for this situation - Everypony is growing like Rome. Only 10 months and already we've established a well-functioning forum with lots of posts per day. We're even more active than some forums with thousands and thousands of members, forums that have been standing on their own for years. You, Twif and me come from such a forum, Grey. Derpy as well, Grey. We all sat down and founded this place. Quite officially Derpy wasn't part of the founding team, but he still was here from the very beginning and look at him now - the lead admin.

10 months may seem like a short time. It might be. March 21st... spring was knocking on the door. It's winter now... It'll be a year in just 2 months. A full year of an community that has been striving towards popularity for quite some time. The first users that helped grow this forum are all gone, if not all, then most. Pac, Bamboo, Sedaheht and other great, fantastic people that appeared at the right place at the right time, wonderful people that took us three by our hands and helped us reach the platform on which we are now. There are way more platforms to come, though; whether you see this as an end of a chapter in your life or as a new beginning is of no matter - Where we stopped, others'll carry on, Grey.

I am not really great with speeches on English, so i can't really express how this is feeling. But i consider it like this: we're looking into a mirror and holding an old photo of ourselves. We see the difference of then and now. We might not be as handsome as before since we're older, but our souls are.

I've only been a member here for two days and have not had a chance to know you Grey. I do know that if you are one of the main people that built this wonderful community then you are someone I want to know. I've been made very welcome here and love the community that is building here. In just these two days this site has been a positive influence in my life. I guess I won't get the opportunity to know you as a leader and moderator here. I just hope though that you will stay around and I can still know you as a friend.

Grey, I'm sorry to see this day has come. You were among the first to make me feel welcome to the site when I joined during the craziness of Brony Day. Back when we still had the gem system, you gave me my first official gem. It's been a pleasure being part of this forum with you as a moderator, and I do hope you'll continue to at least drop by on occasion. The few times we've communicated have been brief, and really more me pointing out something going awry with site functionality, but I appreciate how you handled it. This network that you, Jaret, TWIF, Derpy, and I'm sure a few others I don't know built is amazing, and I hope that it continues to be a success.

I hope that any other endeavors you undertake are met with equal or greater success. Be sure to stay in touch. Perhaps we can actually have a normal conversation now. As the Mad Hatter said to Alice, "fairfarren." Which means, "Farewell, and may you travel far under fair skies."
Life is a grave and I dig it!
Let's all agree to move away from 'T-rex arms' as the reference for tiny arms and move to the more appropriate 'Carnotaurus Arms'.

*Sigh* As you say, all good things must come to an end. It's sad to see you go, like TWIF and Jaret, and the rest of the old group which I started out in.

However! I wish you well in whatever it is you may be doing, and we shall all try our hardest to keep this place intact. Me included.

Yeah, I'll miss the old group that it was back then.

    You'll be remembered GN.

I'll see you on Steam whenever I see you.

It sounds sad and despite the fact that I don't know you... I'm sure you are and will be very appreciated.

Well, I hate change more than anyone. I must say, it's a shame. You helped me, a budding fanfiction writer, with a beginning outlet for my work. I can't say I'm all too familiar with everyone in general, having only been here for a little while, but any prominent figure in a community always leaves an impact when a substantial change occurs regarding them.

Are you leaving EPR, or just the staff? I typically view leaving the duties as such a sad thing compared to leaving a place or community permanently. Anyway, we'll still be here. :3

I know I was made aware of this long before this announcement, but that doesn't make it any less surreal for me. I still can't come to terms with the fact that you, Grey Nightmare, user #1, part of the team that created this wonderful community, is actually retiring. As you said yourself, "All good things must come to an end," but we always hope that the end will never arrive. However, with each end, is a new beginning. To quote one of my favorite songs, "Every new beginning comes from some other beginning's end." So while it is very sad to see you go, I can understand that there is a new beginning, new discoveries, new experiences, etc. I will not get all philosophical here on you though.

It is amazing when you consider that all of this was just a mere thought at one time. It could've easily been tossed aside and none of this would have happened. It really is scary to think about. This place has changed me so much. It has opened my mind to new things that I've never even considered trying before, and even continues to do so. I've never felt close to any online community as I do this one. It may even have paved the way for a future love life. I've said it before and I'll say it again, Everypony.com is much more than just a mere forum. It has grown to be something much more important than that to many of us, and we have you, as one of the ones that started it all, to thank dearly for that. So I tip my hat to you, Mr. Nightmare, for providing us with such a wonderful community as this one.

I remember when I first joined back in July. It was a mere googling of the word "everypony" that brought me to this place. Like I do on pretty much all forums I visit, one of the first things I check is to see who the forum leaders are, and I saw you as user 1. I would watch the things you do. Not in a creepy stalkerish way, but to see how you conducted your administrative business on the forum. I immediately recognized you were an individual that deserved unrelenting respect. You genuinely cared about the members' input and always considered their suggestions to help improve the community. You always did what served the community's best interests and cared about each and every member here. That's something that, from my previous forum experience, I have not always seen head administrators do. I was always afraid to talk to you though. Not that you put off an intimidating vibe, but because I respected you too much to not even risk saying anything stupid around you. I felt unworthy of your acknowledgement. In the few times we did talk, I felt honored.

It's a shame that when I became a community officer, it was after you had stepped down as the head admin. So, I never really ever got the full experience of working under your administration, but that doesn't mean I didn't enjoy what little interaction you and I had. I still remember that one particular compliment you gave me, which I will keep to myself, but when you told me that one thing (you know what I mean), that meant so much to me seeing it from you. I still think about it even now. I'm honored to be a staff member of the site you created, and I will try my best, along with the rest of the staff, to help this place continue to thrive.

In closing, I'd like to wish you all the best in your endeavors. As much as it saddens me to see you go, I also realize that there is a life outside of Everypony, and that real-life goals must take priority. I know that you are retiring from staff, but I hope you are not leaving us for good. I'd love to see you pop in every once in a while just to see how things are going. Not only to see where the community has gone since your departure, but hopefully to let us know how things are going with you.

With all that said, thank you for all of your hard work and dedication. It certainly is something I am grateful for and I wish you all the best!

    Thank you again, Sir!

    Your faithful community officer,
    ~ ePONYmous

Thanks for all your hard work Grey. You were definitely one of the biggest parts of this community's soul and I hope whatever you do in your future endeavors makes you happy and benefits the world. :]

It is truly both upsetting, and enlightening to see you move on. An incredible member of staff, off to greener pastures, to leave your well traveled mark on other places. This site and community has been a big part of my life since I joined June 14, and I foresee it being something I want to stay involved with. The staff aren't just moderators, they are our friends. close to the members as well as each other. To know that you saw us all equally is inspiring. To think of the times you showed up in the radio to say hi and ask how we all were, that shows you as a caring Staff. We will all miss you Grey; We all wish you your earned share of luck.
