The Adventures of the Order of Golden Lightning (Sign-Up and Discussion Thread)

[Eight Star]

Greetings, and hello! I am Eight Star, and I'm an advanced GM. I'm also a pretty big Brony, but I'm sure that's pretty obvious.

Anyway, I've come up with a game plot, AND a game plot that'll work in the world of My Little Pony. It works along the time-table of the current show. Here's the general plot...

As far as pony society goes, you're not "on par" with the rest. Something happened to you where you just don't fit in, or you've left to find your own path. One way or another, you've ended up down on your luck... and that's when you met the strange unicorn known as "Eight Star." (Self-insert, I know.)

Eight Star, while a bit off his rocker, is a very powerful unicorn who lives in a huge underground lair within the Evergreen Forest. He's recruited you to be a part of his eyes, ears, and hooves in a group known as the Order of Golden Lightning. This secret group is deticated to keeping order in the ebb and flow of mana and emotions in all of Equestria. In return for your work with the order, Eight Star provides you, and the rest of his "agents" with food, home, and many other gifts as incentive to continue your work with him.

So in this RP, I'll be the GameMaster in an adventure where you and the rest of the party will be carrying out orders for Eight Star. The adventures will include puzzles, combat, and other intrigue. I'll be rolling dice to determine success for most situations, so it's basically like a tabletop role playing game.

Race: This can be Earth Pony, Pegasus, Draft Pony or Unicorn. Earth Ponies earn experience the fastest, Draft ponies the second fastest, and Unicorn the slowest.
Specialization: This can be a wide number of things. Specializing in combat, sneaking around, cooking, socializing, or... no specialization (blank flank?!) You can include your cutie mark description here.
Background Information: Your general bio. This is the main thing of "how you came to be who you are" or what situation you're in to be a part of the Order.

The RP From the Start

[Zephyr]

Name- Zephyrus (Only known as Zephyr)

Gender- Male

Race- Pegasus

Specialization- Stamina with a slight affinity for thief skills (To be explained in the next bullet)

Background- Zephyr left home at an early age out of guilt for accidentally causing his father's death. As he began to grow up, he learned to pickpocket and pick locks as a method of survival. Over the years his affinity for such skills has improved allowing him to be sneaky when needed, though he still gets caught a lot. It was in this that he discovered his exceptional stamina during chases from angry shopkeepers and ponies allowing him to easily outrun and outfly a very large majority of those he's encounters through sheer endurance alone.

Name: Eleven
Race: Unicorn
Gender: Male
Specialty: Telepathy
Notes: Eleven is mute.

Biography: Eleven is the eleventh child born to undisclosed parents. He was born mute but has since developed a method of telepathic communication and other psychic abilities. His cutie mark is an "unblinking eye".

I approve. Like a thief who's a marathon runner. Your pickpockets and pick locks skills will be your highest abilities. You'll have a little bit in the ability to hide and sneak, but you'll have greatly trained Endurance.

Don't always need to be faster if you can just out-last them!

So Eleven would be able to use limited psycher abilities? Sounds rather useful, actually. Eight Star is also proficient in Telepathic communication, so he would've quickly seen the potential in such a unicorn.

EDIT: While Eleven has a number of phycher abilities available to him to start, his knowledge of them would probably be more limited. Bad things can happen if he tries to exert his powers to do something he's not yet able to do, so figuring out the happy medium is important. I'll be keeping track of energy usage/etc. Eleven would know that there are at least two powers he can use without much worry, and that's the ability to (slowly, but surely,) heal small wounds, and the ability to wake someone up and reduce their fatigue, (which is helpful for people who exert themselves a lot to do things.)

Race: Earth
Gender: Female
Specialty: Wisdom, survival skills, music
Background info: Perfect Melody has no record of Birth nor has she any place of birth which she mentions. She just appeared one day with a great voice and good on the Piano. She met a Pony named Grey Mane along the way and helped Grey Mane out with various emotional and physical troubles. Once at a bad stage performance she had to hide, with Grey Mane, deep inside the Everfree forest until they were forgotten or forgiven.

Background: Whereas most members of her family found their place among the clouds, she preferred the feeling of solid ground beneath her hooves. When away from home, she took up gardening, and soon learned that you could crush up and mix certain plants to create various potions and salves. Her family was…less than impressed. Her place was in the sky, she was told. If she was meant to be a gardener, she would’ve been born an earth pony, they said. She ran (flew) away from home and found a patch of land that had the most wonderful plants she had ever seen: The Everfree Forest.

Ah, but seriously, this is a good mix for a group that wouldn't be combat-heavy. Meaning I get to employ some of my favorite scenarios. You're all accepted. Does anyone have any questions?
