Does the brony fandom annoy you in any way?

I wonder if someday being a brony or pegasister or even just a MLP FiM fan or casual watcher or whatever you want to call yourself will be acceptable and not as badly looked down upon as it is today?

I think someday it will be. As for me i like metal music and like to black clothes and band shirts and an olf jeans jacket with band logos on it, 4 years ago when i as on the street most people wre just looking at me as if i was the devil itself. But by now its better, at least here in germany. Tehre were studies prooving for example that in germany most people listening to metal are of high education. etc etc. I think People start to get along with it, also since the metal music festivals here in germany are the most peacefull, compared to hip hop festivals around here. Maybe someday it will be the same with bronies. The people will just get along with it or ignore it. And both ways are i think okay.

So to say something that annoys me. Well. hard to describe i love and hate the "love and tolerance". I really love it since im a tolerant person and care for the people around me. But sometimes people react like flower eating cottonballs puking rainbows all over the place. If someone starts to hurt friends of mine, psychical or physical, i will not tolerate him and i will for sure not love him. You just can not love everyone, and you can not tolerate every behavior.

The fandom? I have no problems with it... with one exception.

I really don't like that outsiders view a group of people who have little in common aside from a single shared interest as a single entity (i.e. the word "fandom" itself bothers me). This applies to any group of fans. The Homestuck "fandom", the Brony "fandom", the Star Trek "fandom", the Doctor Who "fandom", The Star Wars "fandom", The Adventure Time "fandom": all of these are just a group of people with ONE shared trait. Their opinions, personalities, and individual lives vary so greatly that judging these people (even in a positive way) based on the aforementioned trait is ALWAYS inaccurate.

I have met Bronies that were total jerks. Ditto for the rest of those groups. While I believe that a few bad apples don't necessarily have to spoil the rest of the barrel, others don't share that belief. I associate myself only with particular people of the same "fandom" and not with the whole "fandom". This is because I really don't have anthing in common with certain other Bronies. As a matter of fact, I have met certain Bronies that I really don't like (generally, this applies only to people I meet in person because I don't really judge people over the internet). The way that I deal with not liking someone is simply to disassociate myself from them.

TL;DR: While there are some Bronies that I am proud to call my friends despite our differences, there are also Bronies that I really don't want to be associated with. That's why I don't like the word "fandom".

As I said in my other thread. The way it's heading now. The term Brony will be like the term Furry. People will hear it and assume the worst no matter what you tell them.

That's kind of how it is now isn't it? People don't think nice things when they hear "brony" or "furry." Unless that's your point is that the terms will just merge because of the strong similarities.

no, I still think bronies are furries. Be it sub group, branch or whatever. Still furry in my eyes. When people hear the term furry they instantly think of Furuits, ~removed~. Now sure, some furries may do or want to do those things, but that's not all they do. They do things every other fandom does. When people hear the term brony, I'm pretty sure the first thing many people think is, pedo, freak and some other choice things.

bronies seem to be doing the same things that gave the furries a bad name. So in time I imagine the term brony will be on par with the term furry.
