Apply here for Fanfiction Moderator/Archivist roles. FanFiction Moderators The fanfic moderators job is to ensure that the fanfics on this site follow the rules of submission and are of a good quality. These duties include: -Removing and preventing clop/gore/fetish stories being posted -Allowing stories of good quality to be submitted -Ensuring stories are tagged and posted under the correct genre -Giving advice to writers posting on the forums Fanfic moderators will be chosen by Site Admins and Senior Fanfic Moderators. Grey Knightmare's personal note: I couldn't care less if you're an admin on the biggest forum in the universe, it doesn't make you any more suited to the role. We're looking for dedication and passion, not skill or experience, that can be taught, commitment can't.
Please allow me to be the first to throw my proverbial hat into the ring. I've been writing off and on for years (original fictions) and I feel that I have a lot to offer the Fanfiction community in terms of moderation and administration. My Mod experience is next to nil, but I love to read and write. English is my first language, and I feel that I have a pretty firm grasp on the technicalities and idiosyncrasies of the language. Thus far, I've posted two chapters of a fanfiction on the Fanfiction threads, and I have a few more on FF.net and its sister site Fictionpress.com. I'm always more than happy to critique and give advice if anypony asks for it. So, uh, there's my app. My Time Zone is GMT -5 (Eastern Standard Time) (I'm terrible at interviewing for jobs, but I'm more than happy to answer any questions directed my way.)
Well, I know I'm new, and I don't seem very active. But I've written a book or two and started on fan fiction a bit back. My time zone is Eastern Standard and I'm mostly available nights, though I can during the day. I have no modding experience but I do enjoy reading fan fictions. So, there it is. Please consider me for a position.
I'd like to be the one you're looking for, but i never assumed that role. I enjoy writing a lot, and i'm a good corrector. I'd like to give my name, but i just don't have too much time. Summer's coming, and my job gets full-time. I won't be able to be that much on EP (well, depends. I may be ALWAYS connected too, if i can afford my celll's network 24h/24...) If you could split the role in two, i'll be glad to apply. But, alone, i may not have all the qualities for the responsabilities that role would give me. I'm still glad to see that the forum's getting more and more awesome, day by day, and the number of members rising. Thx to the ones who deserves, you're all doin' a great job~!
Hello, I am interested in becoming a Fanfic moderator. I love reading and I am a good editor and have the passion in making fanfics, even novels. I love how everypony has the gift to write in all sorts of shapes in sizes that come together, like a puzzle piece. The spark of an idea excites me, so that is what keeps me running. I would love to help ponies around the fanfics and immediately take action in any inappropriate material. I have no experience with becoming a mod, but there is a time for everything. My time is Pacific time, and I am often on here. Thank you for reading this, and good luck everypony! So, please take under consideration, Dream Sparkle
I'm interested in becoming a fanfiction moderator. I adore reading almost every type of fic, except for those mentioned. I am excellent as an editor, and can give constructive criticism to those who need it. I have no experience as a moderator, archivist, or anything related. Eastern Standard time is technically the category I'd be under, but most the time I'm on here is late night/early morning.
Don't worry too much about time zones for fan-fic modding, as long as you login reguarly and have a half hour or so a day to skim over submissions and make sure they're of acceptable (not "perfect") quality, that's all that is required. Anything else is a bonus Thanks for the apps, keep them coming ponies! Sent from my GT-I9000 using Tapatalk 2
I to would like to put in an application for fanfic mod. I always like seeing others different ideas and writing styles and helping those that want to try and develop their ideas further. I am a writer myself, though I mainly write shorts I do have one mainline fanfice that I need to get back on top of. I'm always online as well, if there is any free time I have I tend to spend it here mostly. I also like seeing fics that are kind of outside of the box, in that they happen somewhere in either Equestria that none have explored or in a land of their own creation all together. I also read a ton of scifi and fantasy and enjoy reading fanfics along the same lines or helping those that have these genres of story. Well there it is, oh and I will be submitting a short story here in a few days or so.
I've been thinking that I might be able to do well as a fan fiction moderator. I have a love for reading and occasionally write out some of my (horrendous) ideas. I have read a myriad of fan fictions with an indiscriminate eye towards genre and although I am not much of a writer myself, I am an excellent reader. I can usually set aside time to get on the computer and read fanfictions with the exception being exam week. Please put me into consideration for the position!
I would like to apply for FanFic Moderator. I would like to see this site clean. To keep all FanFics to the guidelines but yet see the creative side of all writers
Still unsure about how many we'll hire, we had one before, but two might not be a bad thing. Again, thanks for the suggestions and applications, I keep checking back. We'll decide on a verdict soon enough! (There's still time to apply though!)
I would like to throw my hat into the ring for the position of Fanfiction Moderator. Important Information: I live in the mid-west of the United States, meaning my time zone is GMT -6:00 Central Time (it was at the time this was posted). Despite this, I have few conflicts that would prevent me from regularly appearing at odd hours (and normal ones ) to resolve conflicts, answer questions, and assist users in uploading their fanfictions. Why I Am Applying: I've always wanted to help out around here, and this seems like a golden opportunity. I have some interest in the Fanfiction section of this site, as I have posted a few stories there and am sure to post more. I want to give back to the community, to help improve the site in any way, and to assist in keeping the site running like a well-oiled machine. My Skills: I have been told I excel at social interactions, and that they are my strong suit. I have also been told (by friends and family) that I am responsible. I rarely ever tire of giving explanations, and I almost never become angry. I can imagine nothing more fun and fulfilling than to interact and assist users on a daily basis. While I have no experience in being a moderator, I believe that I can learn quickly, and that I will thoroughly enjoy doing so. I have been a member for some time now, and I have interacted with moderators of all sorts before, which is why I believe I can fit right in and help the staff and users in maintaining both a respectful and fun environment. Thank you for your time, and have a nice day. Good luck to all my fellow users!
Here's my application to be a FanFiction Moderator. I have been reading various sorts of novels, novellas, short stories, poems, textbooks and other forms of fiction and nonfiction for over 16 years. I read a wide variety of themes, from horror to science fiction. I am really good at picking out grammatical and spelling errors, and have noticed plenty of these in several published works. I am familiar with the rules of submission for fanfictions on the site, and would ensure that I check for both content and quality when reading through potential entries. With my history of reading a multitude of genres, I can differentiate stories and get them under the right genre. I can give advice to writers posting on the forums, making sure that they are aware of the submission guidelines and checking if they need any help with their story overall (whether they need a proofreading, ideas, et al). My time zone is GMT-7, and I definitely have some time to review submitted fanfictions. Thank you for reviewing my application.
I'd take a good whack at it. I read anything I can get my hands on, usally classic old novels (Gogol's Taras Bulba, Wilde's Dorian Gray etc) so I can understand and critque fairly well. I have been writing since I ever could, working feverishly at my magnum opus for 7 years now-I know first hand the brutailty of revising and regreting your own work. 100% fluent in English and the ways of wirting. Having horribly high standards, I do not stop at my work until it is as great as it humanly can be. Hopefully this job can keep me intuned to my own wiriting and skills, as wirting is something that needs to be redone and redone infintie times. But mostly... I know how hard it is to work alone. To stare at that screen or page, trying to force the words out...or trying to even understand why they are there anyway. Wanting to give up, wanting just one person to give a honest opinon of your dream's work, wanting someone else to grammer and spelling edit even just one paragarph since it's been burned into you. It is hell working alone, and how is anyone going to write anything if they can't get the ground beneath them? Ideas are fluid and blinding. Finished work is stable and clear. And it is hell getting there. Thus, I wish to help. Regards, SU
I'm going to point out that, above all, you must support the rules and intent over your personal preferences. I occasionally enjoy content that is not allowed on this site, but I know its place is elsewhere and does not belong here. The duties are not particularly demanding. The longest submission I've received was "28 Neighs Later" which is 10k+ words. I pleasure read that story over the course of a day off and on. That was the biggest by miles. Most are in the 500-1500 range, then 2500-4k range. Submissions are not too often in their own right. Indents in the email notification do not carry over to the forums. This must be taken into account when judging format. (If fixing the format is simple I approve the story and tell them to space their story appropriately.) You'll likely be able to skim most stories for content and quality. Others might require a bit deeper reading depending on how you feel the overall quality of the story is. Gore is generally defined as graphic violence, often senseless or purely for the sake of violence. In a few instances I have turned down a story because a scene was too graphic and needed to be toned back. Other cases I turned down a story because it was purely violent. Clop speaks for itself, but we do have limits on content for the mature/suggestive nature. Kissing/cuddling is fine, but saliva (among other things) tends to be considered a bit much. As always, you may get a second opinion from the other stuff. For example, I usually linked a part I questioned. I always try to be lenient and give any writers the chance to grow. I only offer so much advice before directing them to writing guides for study, though.
I believe I'd like to, but... I feel my standards would be too high to keep down. There's quite a bit that bugs me about most writers' works, and we wouldn't exactly need someone as tight as myself here. :derpe: I do hope you find someone who will adequately complete the task.
ooh! if there's a position, i'd like it! i've helped others quite a bit with writing before, and i love to read fanfics i also am on here for most of the day, so i can check at anytime too. it sounds fun!
I know I haven't been here long, but I'd like to put my hand up. Being disabled and frequently housebound means I'm good for popping in daily and evaluating new submissions. I took Advanced English in high school, trust me, I know my way around the language of this board. Clopfics are only good in my mind for laughing at, so if I come across a submission that is clearly meant to be clop fuel, first I'll laugh, then I'll push the nuke button. Gore will get even worse treatment from me. I'm as patient as Fluttershy and I like to help whenever possible - especially in regards to creative writing - but I'm also as plain-spoken as Applejack and I generally don't mince words when people get difficult. In other words, I'm firm but fair. If you want a perfectionist grammar Nazi with the patience of a Vulcan, I'm your man.
