I just shopped around for a relatively powerful PC from PC world, with the intentions of bettering the hardware. I'll soon get a fancy new case for it, a better processor (and probably motherboard) and more ram and HDD (Not that 500 Gig isn't enough, lol...) I guess I kinda cheated, but it'll be worth it when its so beasty it scares people. It's just quicker to finish this way, and with practically the same results. By the way, your Pc's pretty dang awesome, Zeph3. Better than mine. But I'll make mine better... Oh yes, I shall...
Zeph3, that's catchy, I might adopt that, and yeah, I went all out on mine, I'm thinking of maxing out to 24gb of corsair vengance ram this holiday, as soon as newegg shows some sales. on Nightmare Night it was only like $130 for 24gb. Should've bought it then.
I'm in the process of building my rig. I'm low on money, and I need a new mobo, new ram, and a new cpu... ugh
How much do you have? I'm sure you can find something this holiday season, If not, I can help you look. I thought something like this might be appreciated. Gratz on the new parts, can't wait to see your finished build.
Oh but it is finished. :derpe: It's been serving by my side for the last year, these parts are just to give it them, 'finishing touches'.
Ah, I see! Unfortunately, the "finishing touches" never seem to be quite *finished* do they? :| I know mine never are.
Well, I'm getting a new phone for Christmas which is going to be my primary present. Basically the computer I'm using as my rig, is the one I'm on right now. I'm upgrading things piece by piece. My current mobo (EVGA nforce 750i sli ftw) can only take DDR2 RAM, and core2 duo processors (blech). Since I have no backup computer, I would need to buy all those components together. I want at least 8 gigs of DDR3 ram, and Intel Core I7 processor. I would like the mobo brand to be Asus, EVGA, or Gigabyte, and SLI compatible with BOTH PCIe slots being x16 (not one x16 and the others x8, I don't plan on using SLI with more than 2 cards). So I need to start saving, and hopefully I'll get a decent amount of money this Christmas to help.
There we g...Oh darn, I could just do with adding something to there. Ahhh now that's more like i...You know what, I have £50 spare, I'll something for that.
Good luck might want to look into an Intel i7 920 processor wise, best bang for your buck i7 BY far. Ram is cheap these days, go with whatever you want, from a reputable company of course. If you're planning on staying Evga, look into the P67, it's a good motherboard.
Thank you. And yes I plan on staying with evga, they've never given me a problem before and that's where I always get my video card's from.
I don't really game much, but my computer specs are still reasonably respectable: Intel Core 2 Quad Q9400 2.66GHz ASUS P5Q-Pro motherboard 8GB Kingston DDR2 800MHz (just the value stuff. Used to be 4GB, added an extra 4GB as my second last ever upgrade to this machine) NVidia GeForce GTX 550Ti (which was the most recent, and last upgrade. Got that 4-5 months ago). 320GB and 250GB HDDs - both well used (and I believe both have used up the maximum 4 primary partitions ) Running Vista x64 HP with SP2, Ubuntu 11.10 and Fedora F16. I'm still toying with replacing one of my HDDs with a 1 or 2TB job, to be ported to the eventual new computer (and the graphics card would be as well. I'd plonk a cheap $30-40 card in the current one and set it up as a backup server running some form of Linux).
>Bad Flank Rig I'll take pictures eventually of my beast ancient(stock) rig. (Not that great. Until I feel like getting $ to make a new rig.)
Hey guys. Recently, I've had my mind on looking for a new computer, though I don't exactly have a job, or a way to make money, so until I do find a way to create some cash... I really need some advice as to what I should buy if I want a gaming computer, because I have little knowledge when it comes to computer specs... And the computer I have right now is a piece of junk, family computer that's probably....10, 11 years old? I wouldn't be surprised if it were older. But if I could get some advice, it would really help... If it helps, I'm looking for a windows PC, that could handle today's game relatively okay... And on a somewhat cheap budget...
I can help you put together a budget wise rig that can play most current games on high (maybe not ultra). It would probably be $350-$450 USD
I sold my car, due to getting a new one for Christmas, and have just ordered some new parts, they will be here the 24th. 24gb Corsair Vengance, a CoolerMaster V8 for my cpu, a new antec 1200w psu, and two 560ti graphics cards. Look forward to some pics!
oh hehe, wait till after christmas, you sir are going to be soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo jelly of me. current setup: motherboard: Stock HP HDD: 2 SATA HD, 800 GB, 600 GB Video card: ATI Radeon HD 6770 Sapphire Processor: AMD Athlon II X4 635 Quad Core Ram: 4 GB Computer Tower: HP Pavilion Computer asphyxiation (HORRIBLE VENTILATION HALP!!!!) My expect setup: HDD: 2 SATA HD, 2 TB, 1TB Video card: ATI Radeion 6990 X2 Crossfire + V8 Super cooler Processor: AMD FX 8-Core Processor Black Edition (jelly?) Motherboard: unknown(friend is surprising me with one, guessing its a VERY good one if it can handle an FX) Computer tower: unknown (im thinking its an XOxide GT4100) i love christmas
I've learned not to be jealous of others setups, because I go through hardware faster than anyone I know, but not bad. I have nothing to be jealous there without knowing the MoBo though, Can't make pie without crust. http://ponyurl.com/vwh8qz It runs a AM3+ socket, so most current boards should be able to support it, don't worry too much about that. Mine runs a LGA 1366 socket, which is the intel counterpart. http://ponyurl.com/v9bzhz I just had to get these once I saw they were Classified editions, they will match my motherboard nicely, the black/red color scheme continues to the power supply as well! http://ponyurl.com/3cfzer (cards) http://ponyurl.com/dsqcf2 (psu) Might as well just post links to all the new parts then I guess since I've posted the others. http://ponyurl.com/dxrvg7 (ram) http://ponyurl.com/xb26qf (fan, sounds like you got the same one, I've had one before, they're nice, the v10 is overrated)
