I'm still working from home and probably will be until this pandemic is gone. It does wear on you. I'd probably have gone stir crazy if it weren't for my dogs.
I've never really been much of a social person, so beyond wearing masks in public and reducing my snack runs, the pandemic hasn't really effected my day-to-day life all that much. Thirteen years of mockery, teasing, and bullying didn't do my ability to relate to people any favors.
Because I'm essential the pandemic hasn't affected me at all work wise. It added new rules that people don't like to listen too, but otherwise same crap.
I was only out of work for a week and a half before we started making masks. I'm thankful to have a job but it has been a long grind.
My boss was able to convince the county commissioners that title insurance was still "essential", since people in my area were still buying, selling, and mortgaging houses. My line of work is dependent on whether the courthouse stayed open or not, and thankfully they decided to keep it open, albeit with restrictions.
I'm in IT for a home insurance company, and we stayed open. We were able to get 95% or more of the associate able to work from home including the call center folks. It was handled surprisingly well. Now the only people that go into the office are the ones that want to, which isn't many. Saves me 2 hours a day I lose on the commute there plus all the money spent on gas... The pros are actually far outweighing the cons for me at least...
About 30 miles, but... It's also the traffic, they decided that leasing space right next to a major college was a great idea. Narrator: It wasn't.
Okay, that makes sense. When we lived in Dearborn Heights, I want to say at least 2 of my dad's workplaces were based out in Troy. It shouldn't have taken more than 25 minutes to get there, but given all the traffic in the tri-county area, it tended to be closer to 45-50. Worse during the inevitable traffic jams.
I haven't missed any work because of the pandemic, but I have threatened to staple a mask to someone's face. While holding a paper mask and a staple gun. I'm honestly not sure if I would have done it or not.
I'm all for following South Africa's lead on masks. They will arrest you if you are in public without a mask. I don't give a damn about what you believe if what you are doing is actively risking others' lives.
Hopefully, once the vaccine is readily available, we can go back to normal. Especially as far as going to concerts.
Normal for all y'all, maybe. I'll be going from staying away from people back to staying away from people.
Good, because I didn't want to win this twice in a row anyway. Can't help you with that. I despise coffee.
I used to get mine from Mountain Dew before I promised myself that I wouldn't drink soda pop again until my weight dropped below 220. ...That was five years ago.
