That's a silly question. I think there is a part of us that all miss the abridged series. I find enjoyment in everything that it was when it was around and kicking. Still do~ But I am glad what we got from it and I wouldn't want it any other way~ I have yet to see the newest one, but yeah~ TFS still does some random DBZA shorts that are just wonderful~
"Miss" is a bit of a strong term in my case. DBZA as a whole is a bit too crude for me as far as my personal radar is concerned, so whenever I re-watch it (via reaction videos) I gravitate towards the parts that I know will make me laugh. Like this, for example: As an aside, I don't want to spoil the latest episode, so I'll just say "the roasting is real" and leave it at that.
Fair enough~ Though that's what I kinda mean, honestly. TFS made something that people can enjoy on different levels~ Not to mention they effectively made an easy-to-digest fan continuity for Dragon Ball Z, as far as the first three seasons go. I personally got a lot of enjoyment out of the humor. Barring the more crude stuff, I loved most of the running gags, loved the in-jokes about the canon series, and in a surprising way, I ended up finding myself appreciating their choices in music more. Going for more of the Japanese soundtrack more than the stuff we got here in America. Though did sprinkle in some of the American fan faves. Vegeta's Super Sayain/Final Flash theme, Playing Gohan Angers as part of the theme used for Gohan's final stand against Cell, and Perfect Cell's theme has been subtly used throughout season three. Though what got me was how impactful they made serious character moments when they played it straight. And 16's added backstory really elevated his character in DBZA, along with how Android 17 and 18 were handled. Which was also great to see~ Honestly, watching DBZA felt like I was watching DBZ for the first time all over again. Reliving my younger years again in some way. I just saw it last night in the evening. And you were not kidding, the roasting was most certainly real~ Cell and Freiza really laid into each other, though I think Cell's snarky wit earned him some extra points~
All that and we got to hear Perfect Cell singing Frank Sinatra, which is something I never thought I'd say in a sentence. I wish I could say the same, but I ended up missing a massive chunk of DBZ. For a while when I was in high school we had to do without cable for some reason or another. I was able to get one of my friends to record some of the episodes for me (and got him hooked on DBZ in the process ), but I still missed more than half of the Goku-Frieza fight clear down to the end of the Cell Games. By the time I was able to watch it again, Cartoon Network was airing reruns of the Otherworld Tournament (the Pikkon episodes). ()^_^ Truth be told, something Frieza (or Freeza, whatever) had me laughing for a reason that TFS likely didn't anticipate. When he asked Cell which of the fighters he was made up of was "a greased-up bug-man who smells like patchouli", my first thought was... (The Touhou character Patchouli Knowledge, for anyone curious.) "Hello, other new Naaaiiillll!"
Abridged!Guru... honestly, I think I hate him more than any of the franchise's actual antagonists. Except for maybe Zamasu, but that's a given.
Usually, they consist of goofy or cliché puns. Did you hear about the guy who bought shoes from a drug dealer? I don't know what they were laced with but he was tripping all day.
Abridged Cell singing 'My Way' was a great way to send him off~ Though most of his singing segments were pretty funny beforehand. The only other one that kinda added more to the theming was Cell singing 'Perfect' after obtaining his Perfect form. Then the reprise from his return, after using his self-destruct. Gods, that is making me think of Pokemon saying that. *squee!*ing early gen Electrode. Huh. I didn't know about either till now. In the case of the plant, that's good to know. In the case of the character, I don't track Touhou stuff. So that's out of my range of comprehension. Why did you name me this way? lol
Ah, so essentially the sort of stuff I specialize in anyway. Thanks. Or Weezing, for that matter. I've seen videos of them exploding uselessly against the Gastly line. >^_^< Which is just as well. Touhou was my obsession prior to MLP, and it's an entire beast all its own.
Ok, so Rise of the Planet of the Apes is on. And totally unrealistic. Not because of the apes gaining intelligence. But instead the scene where Caesar bites off the guys finger at the beginning and the cops show up. The cops call animal control instead of mag dumping into the animal. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!! That would never happen. There would have been 3-4 dozen shots fired and one dead chimp. Movie over, humanity saved. The ONE time US police needed to act like normal. My immersion was ruined.
I think people do that in general with everything now. Poor realisum. It doesn't need this kinda abuse.
