Thanks guys! Been lost in a lot of websites (advertising my site and such) and remembered this place so I thought I'd drop in and say hey.
***my post to the last small topic*** the rep system had flaws... and everypony wanted it to be removed without any hesitation. the american government is flawed, do you want that to be removed without any hesitation? if you do, then say bye bye to your way of life. I really think a replacement is much better than a total removal. if everyone keeps arguing and fighting over something and that something keeps getting removed, the site is going to be so bare. it will be boring and useless, not even worth getting on anymore. Spoiler: my idea to fix the system I've ran communities before and the rep system(as an example) is a vital part of any community. only difference here is, we think how much of a family we are, not how big we are. a rep system that differentiates people by how popular they are is a flawed system. that's why i vouched for a like system. I used it in one of my communities before and it worked nearly flawlessly. yes i still had trolls using bots to like a post one million times, but that's not someone repping someone 1 million times. if a troll bot repped himself to become a red gem user, the newcomers will see him as someone valuable, then he starts ruining the community and these newcomers see everypony as corrupt and a bad system. a like system doesn't effect rep of a user or popularity of a user, it effects the popularity of that post. people decide if they like a post, not decide if they like the person. Recap: like system removes the need for gems, reputation, ad popularity. it also keep the ability to like a post, because honestly, isn't that what they are doing in the first place, liking the post. it keeps the separation of popular ponies and new ponies at a minimum, leaving the popular ponies to be thought of in the minds of the community, not a gem. it keeps a vital part of a community and allows the community to be a lot more approachable and fun.
@SkyRaze: The subject is over. Topic closed. Rep system gone. It ain't comin' back. I hate to break it to you, but the community doesn't need a buncha pixels flyin' around. (Pixel is the one and only Pixel!)
I'm fine with the no rep system now, but previously I saw something on forum of a thanks/like/dislike system. Did that disappear too? Forums feels a bit better, at least they kept the post count. Didn't feel like loosing progress since July.
He was saying that something like a Like/Dislike system would be useful, And they were experimenting with it earlier after rep was removed. "Remove it completely!" did after all, lose the vote. Personally, I don't care what they do with the rep system, because I'm not here for the all mighty rep gems.
*Shrug* When it comes down to it, the mods' decision is final. I'm sure they listen to the community, but removing it seems like the best option. Perhaps more opportunities will arise for a different system, soon enough. But for now, let's just enjoy the equality that we all have.
No, guys! Just no! The topic was closed for a reason! When a topic of discussion is closed, it means the discussion is over. It does not mean you take it to a different thread. I do not want this thread turning into another topic about reputation. I'm prepared to remove any further discussion on it if it's necessary. Let it die. I understand that that some of you aren't pleased with its removal and that's completely understandable. However, said topic is dead. Please, just move on or take it to private.
ePONY is right, old topic is old topic, and we've all discussed that rep topic enough anyway. So... how about that Batman?
