So lets say if science found a way to travel to an alternate dimension and discovered the realm of Equestria. How would the goverment of the United States react? They could see a peaceful race and make a peace treaty. But most likely they would just see a totalitarian dictatorship with acces to weapons of mass destruction and immediately draw paralells to North Korea. So they may decide it is best to invade Equestria to "liberate" it from Celestia's regime, as well as loot the valueble resources which Equestria is rich with. So here we have a scenario, the might of the greatest millitary power on earth against the homeland defense of Equestria. If the US would launch an invasion, how would their millitary compare to their pony counterparts? Of course we need to take into account the popularity of the war, would the citizens support such an invasion? How large would the backlash be? Would you consider betraying your own species to fight at the side of the ponies? I would like us to compare the following. Leadership The leadership skills of Barack Obama and Celestia. As well as their prefered methods. Airforce Pegasi vs jets. The Blue Angels vs The Wonderbolts Ground force Earth ponies and unicorns vs US marines and artillery. Weapons of mass destruction The Elements of Harmony and Rainbow Dash vs the Atomic Bomb What are your thoughts on this?

I'd rather not be present at this war. It reminds me of Avatar. Human beings found a new planet and their only aim was to plunder, colonize and get the resources of Pandora. I think if E.E.U.U. or any other powerful country got to travel to an alternate dimension... it gave raise to a mess.
Silly Testy, in fiction, everything revolves around the United States! That's just how it works. It's kind of stupid illogical silly. Thinking logically, I'm sure the US government would sign a peace treaty of some kind. On the other hand, if there was a ton of oil to be found in Equestria... ~cough~ Anyway, I'm sure Fox News pundits would debate about Princess Celestia being a tyrant or something, considering how often fans in this very fandom seem to seriously think of her as a tyrant/troll/whatever. I can only imagine how much they would freak out once they found out she was immortal and had lived for hundreds, possibly thousands, of years.
Fire the cupcake cannon! In all seriousness, I think that humanity, for all our techinical ability and fighting prowess, will have a lot of trouble facing off against magic. I mean, roughly a third of the Pony population has telekinetic ability. We wouldn't stand a chance if they can deflect bullets and missiles, throw tanks, and pull jets into the ground. The war would be over in a week.
They would not invade Equestria. If you're drawing parallels to the American invasion of Iraq (taken from your 'liberating it from Celestia's regime' comment), then first you should bring comparisons to Iraq and Equestria (never thought I'd say that.) Although the reasons for the Iraq invasion were controversial, the official rationale was to stop Saddam Hussein's development of weapons of mass destruction, as well as his supposed involvement and support of Al-Qaeda. Celestia doesn't do anything that would impose an injustice upon her people. She in fact provides a necessary service that no other entity is capable of doing, in raising the Sun. Should any force try to remove that in aid of the Equestrian people, that would be directly doing harm to them. It wouldn't be done. There are no pros to the cons. As for the resources, similar to oil in the middle east, any removal of resources from Equestria would be an invasion, nothing less. That goes against several international protocols. No country would dare do that, not with the threatening backlash from the other nations. Both would more than likely open diplomatic talks before anything. Both are good, rational leaders. Considering one is an armed war machine and the other is a flying horse, I'm afraid there is only one winner here. I'd actually give it to the ponies here. Unicorn magic for me would play to large a role in both offenceand defence. There is a problem with each of these things. 1. The Elements of Harmony are in no way a weapon. They can be used to banish or apprehend an individual foe, but there is no viable evidence to suggest they could be used as a tool of offence. Even the name would suggest that despite containing huge amounts of power and/or energy, similar to a warrior monk, it will never be used to for anything other than defence. 2. Rainbow Dash's sonic rainboom seemed practically incapable of inflicting any sort of damage whatsoever. Even the 'nuke' seen in 'Lesson Zero' only managed to take down an already damaged barn. 3. Nuclear weapons are prohibited by at least 4 articles of international law. No country would be able to use them. All in all, it wouldn't come to a war. If anything, and in typical Equestrian fashion, it would be a cultural and scientific exchange more than a confrontation.
Well, I do not consider the reasons behind the war that important, it is mainly an excuse to see who has the strongest millitary, see it as, well, a Deathbattle or Deadliest warrior episode. As for the pegasi, you forget they can control the weather. Actually Rainbow has already beaten a jet. I don't think an invasion would be successful in any way, shape, or form. They have magic on their side, particularly two rather powerful alicorn princesses, not to mention the mane six, etc. etc. I shudder to think of soldiers shooting at ponies though...aside from the whole mention of a "bullet" in the Find a Pet song, there's no evidence they have weapons like ours, so they might not even know what it is before--yeah... ._. ...Suddenly this thread became nightmare fuel.

I think you have stumbled over one advantage humans have here, cold-blooded ruthlessness, ponies probably want to avoid killing, some humans are nothing but sadists and have no such problems. This will surely piss off Celestia though. I think though more than a few soldiers will have objections towards taking aim at cute coloured ponies, especially civilians. Poor ponies though. Ok, I am sad now .
I have no idea what the thoughts of the U.S. would be, but I do not think anybody would just go straight into a war path, especially against such peaceful citizens like Ponies. not a fan of this thread, sorry.
