Note: This thread is not meant to make people "PANIC" i just want to know if someone can give me some hope in our fandom because i'm starting to feel that it's slowly dying.. First we lose the archive then DjAlexS Gets shut down,i'm scared to think whats next.I just wish there was something we could do you prevent these anonymous attacks. This community has changed my life and made me so many new friends i would just die inside if it came to a end.If anyone knows any info that could give me hope please tell me it would help me alot. Thanks for your time.
Alex S's account being removed only made him like a martyr, if anything at all. He already has a back up account up. I thought the fandom was growing since we seem to just run right through any media or news at this point.
Don't worry. It's a mild coincidence that both of these situations occured at the same time. Our fandom is too large to bring down. Trolls are inevitable, DJalexs just happened to be the unfortunate victim. He has a back-up, we ain't over yet. As for ponyarchive? After I saw their reaction to Hasbto closing them down with good reason, good ridance to them.
Though it is understandable that they would be angry, I think they may have took it too far too. I'm sure that the situation will sort itself out- mistakes happen. I think that both Hasbro and the archive are in the wrong here, but I'm not giving up on either right now 'Cos I'm still hoping they'll work it out.
Don't worry it's not dieing at all. False brony's that are actually parasprites in disguise should be ignored. Love and friendship and tolorate is still going and always will. AlexS is not leaving in any way and lets make 2012 the year of the bronies!
I thought it already was the Year of Armageddon :Trollestia: . But yeah, let our kind grow more powerful than anyone could ever imagine, FOR PONY!
this community still has a alot of fuel to burn. I don't see it going down anytime soon nor in the near future.
The archive was doing something highly illegal and reflected poorly on the group by reacting so angrily, Hasbro had every right to shut them down, it was not an anonymous attack. Alex S on the other hand has set up a back up channel and is contacting youtube to get his channel back up, like Masterlink had to do before, you should expect him back up sometime soon. He doesn't have any videos on it yet http://www.youtube.com/OfficialAlexS
The way ponyarchive responded makes us look bad.. I called the hub earlier and began asking why they wont let international viewers use the hubworld and they kept transfering me I never got a anwser :/
What exactly was ponyarchive? I can imagine an image site and links to pony vids but I've never been there before.
It is a site that had many downloads for episodes and more.. kind of was like a filesharing site for ponies.
Yes, but many people are mad since many international people (Like yetione) Relied to watch the show from there.
Alex S, was attacked by trolls, nothing more, nothing less. Ponyarchive had torrent downloads of every episode in 1080p. Hasbro had every right to take down Ponyarchive. As a loving community, we should be supporting the show, not stealing from it. Ponyarchive's response is what really makes me mad the most. Not only does it make us look bad; I'm sure in the eyes of Hasbro, SOPA would have been great for them at the time. SOPA doesn't need anymore support, and Ponyarchive should have just left quietly. I wouldn't be worried about the fandom. We only have room to grow, and a third season to look forward to. We aren't done yet, and we shouldn't let unfortunate events like this get us down. As far as the international viewing issue goes. I'm unsure which way Hasbro will go. They said that they will be removing torrent downloads, and videos that were uploaded without permission. I hope that some channels with full episodes will be allowed to stay up, but we can never be sure...
You will never get any answers about things like this from any tv program sadly danvid. Either they just dont feel like answering or they dont think it's worth their time. Pretty sure hasbro contacted or tried to contact ponyarchive but they likely ignored every warning with some kind of lame excuse. Pretty sure 1080P uploads on youtube aren't allowed, but for me it's pretty usefull, because i usually miss the broadcasts. (sure used the word pretty a lot in this post)
Ponyarchive stood on the edge for a long time, but I didn't find out what happened until this morning when I was catching up on the 2+ weeks of no internet. Sad to hear, but the the backlash they gave Hasbro was pretty ungrateful for how kind and tolerant they have been with us so far. As EQD put it: biting the hand that feeds us isn't good.
