I'm hoping to get some ssd's for Christmas from family, but I figured ~$1075 was enough for tonight ;P Really, REALLY wanting to try out raid on some ssd's.
I'm been watching prices of SSDs and they certainly are going down fast (for me anyway). I still don't have any myself. After my new setup comes in, I might consider treating myself.
Yeah that's why I've been looking into them more, I bought a 64gb Kingston for my father when I built him a new pc for his birthday (his old pile was 12 years old, lol) and that thing alone was amazing speed, I'd love to see what some current drives in R0 would be capable of.
I hate alienware for overpricing their crap by an extremely large amount. Custom built PCs are always the best way to go unless you seriously have a fear of doing something wrong Their chassis do look awesome nonetheless.
I pooped myself today when putting in a new fan. When I turned the PC on afterwards it kept BSODing and I though I'd somehow broke teh PC. Then I realised the KB was causing it. LOLWUT
.....LOLWUT?! I am rather intrigued. Are you getting it fixt now? Things to have checked (not sure how savvy you are): USB or PS/2 work without a keyboard(using Onscreen KB)/with another keyboard? work in a different USB port? A special keyboard? eg. Logitech G15, G110, Razer Lycosa, Marauder etc. or is it Alienware designed ( I haven't looked into them)
My computer constantly had bluescreens because of USB errors and keyboard errors as well. Turns out it was my PSU that was faulty and wasn't supplying enough power to the motherboard... Two things to check are: How many watts does your PSU put out. And how many amps are on the 12v rail. You can check this on the sticker on the PSU. Look toward the bottom of the sticker for the total amount of watts. For the amperage on the 12v rail, look for +12v, and how many amps is in the "Output" section. If the sticker has more than one +12v rail (ex: +12v1, +12v2, etc) add up the total amperage for those. A gaming PC should have at least 750 watt power supply, with at least 40 amps on the +12v rail.
Everything's fine the PSU area, just some crappy thing that's cropping up. Ah well, I have 10 other slots LOL EDIT: To Xan: Well it is fixed, the only time the problem occurs is when the KB is plugged into just this one slot, I have no idea what's wrong with it - it's identical to the others I have and it works fine in them. Also it's a Cyborg V7
Nope it doesn't. It's the KB that's the problem. It's nothing worth taking it back to the store over either, it works fine in the one above :3
Ok lol. I guess I have a similar problem. One USB port bugs out when I plug my iPod or any storage device into it. Any other works though. Go figure. :derpe:
I have a corrupted USB port as well. It works but say I put my iPod in, every slight movement will make the disconnection sound, but then connection sound again (guess it could be the dongle). Same with flash drive, it CAN be painful transferring data across as its an unstable connection, and sometimes it asks to reformat the drive, which, when I agree to, says the reformat fails. Then blowing on both the USB port on the drive and my computer makes it fine...usually. No problems recently though
That's exactly what happens to me. I plug in any storage device I hear the disconnect/reconnect noise over and over. Oh well.
