I was merely asking for advice on a topic I needed advice on, grey. As to those that posted, thanks. I'll try to ignore him, its hard for someone like me to ignore ANYONE, but I will try.
I'm just saying that on a thread where people are supposed to discuss their own problems they are having with their sexuality, religion is bound to come up. But we should still avoid talking about it unless necessary.
As long as there is some hope there is something worth fighting for. Look how much things have changed for universal rights for everyone in the past 10 years let alone longer. Some day this subject will be taught in schools as part of the 21st century rights/equality movement.
I t's hard to say how to approach 'teaching' the subject. I asked my mom a lot (since she was open minded/had many gay friends when growing up) and explored it for myself. In the end, I never really understood why people developed homophobia.
We are in the middle of an important time. Did everypony see this? http://www.reuters.com/article/2011/12/21/us-navy-lesbians-kiss-idUSTRE7BK2A820111221 A wonderful and heart warming step forward.
Aww... thats sweet. Well, I'm glad a little bit of life has been brought back to this thread. It is a wonderful thread.
I look forward to the day when this isn't news anymore. I think it'll be another forty years or so, but it will happen, and the world will be a better place for it.
Aw, but this sort of news is so heart warming! I'm going to miss it. Besides, all we hear about right now is Kim Kardashian, and who the heck even cares about what she does?
omg shuttup ok kim iz beootuful and if you dont caer abowt her u have no lyf so shut up :'( Seriously though, why people take an interest in the menial lives of such people is beyond me. I really don't care if a famous actress has put on a bit of weight or Brad has wrinkles, I really don't care. Gandhi wasn't the best looker on the planet. As for that kiss, it kind of gets me down to think that two people kissing is news worthy just because they're the same gender, but then you just have to accept that this isn't an ideal world, and this is a good thing. It might not be progress that you want to have to go through, but at least it is progress. In all fairness, homophobia is much, much less severe than it was just decades ago. I think general society just needs to stop finding it weird, or abstract. Just, chill. Voodoopony has the best view on sexuality. If it's pretty, f*** it. Don't be afraid to find stuff sexy. Life's too short to worry about that. Just, stay away from kids and make sure that the other party is in consent (and preferably alive).
I just try to keep this thread as positive as possible. I think being positive is important in a situation such as this rather than focusing on the negative.
Love is what we are taught to cherish in our hearts. Whether or not it is between a man/woman, man/man, or woman/woman is irrelevant.
We can review the negative to find the flaws, though. I like pointing out negative aspects, then layering my beliefs over them to convey my views. Some people have incorrigible beliefs, but it's always worth a try to educate or enlighten someone. I think that is positive, even if it could be interpreted as negative.
I don't really mind the negative attention, because I tend to be an attention horse and I'm firm enough in my views that I can fend off anyone, especially that I can be a bit of a troll if I have to. :S I guess this just means I'm really lonely
