I'm 6 feet 5 inches tall and sadly weigh 390 lbs I've lost 10 lbs in the past month and I still have a long way to go. I have been running 5k. And I was wondering if any pony is doing what I'm doing ? My goal is 220lbs which was my high school weight.
Walking long distances is just as effective as running, in a way. My mom lost a lot of weight when we didn't have a car, but she was walking 15+ miles a day, sometimes. When running, don't go full blast. Just pace yourself and you can cover more distance. I'd been exercising a bit, including some weight lifting, with a friend. We'd jog a bit in his neighborhood and I'd usually skip lifting weights most of the time. (I prefer leg strength only.) Anyway, I really hope you achieve your goal. Always remember: There's no such thing as instant results and a diet does not help on its own. Good luck!
Yeah I understand what you mean. It really makes me uncomfortable talking about my weight but on the same hand it keeps me motivated when I talk about it. Changes I have made in. My life No soda - 3 months Mostly only water No fast food at all -1.2years Exercise - 2 months I know that it's not easy and I figured with this thread other ponies like me may find some encouragement and maybe encourage me in the process.
With diet and exercise, I've lost around 20 pounds since November 1st. I hope to loose about another 40 or so. I probably won't be able to do the long distance running I used to, back in High School (bad knees), but maybe I can get back to jogging a few miles when I get some proper shoes. Will probably have to wait until Spring any ways due to weather around here. In the meantime, I'll be doing some weightlifting. I'm not sure how reasonable 220 is for 6' 5" - sounds a bit light, but I have no idea what the doctors think now is a healthy weight. I think if I followed the doctor's charts, I should loose another 25 pounds after my goal of 200 is reached. But I'm with ya SP. It may take a while (after all, we didn't put on all this weight overnight, did we?), but we can do it! I you ever want to talk to me, I'm usually on Skype. I'm usually pretty good for a moral booster.
Yeah we didn't put this on in a few days it took years and I figure it will be a year and a half or so before I get where I want to. I liked what I looked like in high-school at 220. I did get lower but then people started asking if I was sick so I think if I can float around 220-230 I'll be happy. Really my goal is a 34 pants size and a L/XL T-shirt. I'm glad to hear you've lost 20 lbs. it really not that hard to loss weight but it's way too easy to gain weight. Damn the universe!!! And thank you David for the encouragement
just workout everyday and eat healthy. harder workout is better it is. you have to work until you're completely wet in sweat, and then work some more. I'm serious. running with rapid change in pace, pushups, situps, and all those workouts are good. and remember, harder it is, more effective it is. It won't be easy, but it will be worth it
Work out with a friend if possible. The motivation is really helpful, especially if it is an exercise you particularly hate (I'm looking at you, mountain-climbers) and might conveniently "forget to do" on your own.
Trade you. I'm 6'3" at somewhere above 130 and can't gain an ounce of weight. My metabolism runs too damn fast. What I'm saying is I feel ya, but in the opposite direction.
heh, i know whats that like, high school, freshmen year, 4 foot 11 inches, 265 pounds... senior year 5 foot 6 inches, 190 pounds. i have been working hard to make myself good weight, so far i have been succeeding. my diet really only consisted of less fast food and soft drinks, and a little bit less eating, in some cases i missed breakfast and lunch to counteract the over indulgence of calories. Good tip: people look at how much they eat and what they are eating, so in some cases they think that not eating at all will make them lose weight. but in fact, you should watch your calorie count. make sure you dont go over the recommended or too far below, try to keep a good intake daily.
I wish you the best S.P.Rocket! Just remember that it won't be an instant change in weight. Slowly but surely you will get it down to your goal. ___ I'm also trying to lose weight as well but using some unorthodox way. Just doing what I do best, being lazy, playing games, college stuff... but I think the majority of my loss was just from walking from class to class during my college terms. Currently 6 foot; 140~ lbs. (I don't remember.)
I wish you luck, myself I am on the edge or I weight to little, for some reason I don't like eating (but I like tastes, it's just the eating) and have to force myself to eat, sometimes I forget too. I'm lucky I have parents constantly reminding me. It's like this: It feels like eating is booring and a waste of time, but I know I have too. I eat very slowly too. Still, I'm one of the most energyfull and quick of all of my classmates, lol.
I've heard that staying up for extended periods of time can lead to your body consuming excessive amounts of resources. Other extreme methods: -Starving yourself (This worked for a high profile actor when they had to lose like 50 lbs for a movie) -Purging (Extremely dangerous and unhealthy-easily leads to malnutrition and other problems) I tend to stay up, though I eat a lot if I can. I haven't weighed myself in forever, but I'm 6'1"~ and I guess I'm around 190 lbs since I'm skinny. I'm a bit health conscious and try to balance my diet with something healthy if I eat too many unhealthy meals in a row. Cut out chips and nuts from your diet-they're very fattening, too.
It's awesome that you are putting the effort in trying to lose weight. I hope you are successful. I don't have a weight problem, but I definitely have a health problem... I have a habit of eating a lot junk food. I don't really like soda, and I always try to avoid it, but I don't eat very healthy. I've been feeling sick lately for the past 3 weeks, unable to eat anything. And as a result, I've lost weight, and not in a good way. I'm 5' 9'' and under 140 pounds; which isn't bad, but I look really skinny... I'm not sure if it is because of my poor diet, but I've been trying to eat healthier. The only problem now is that, I always get stomach aches when I eat, or even see food. I'm not going to the hospital because last time after doing a ton of tests, they found nothing. So I'm hoping that exercise and time will just make my stomach aches stop.
seriously, just work out. I know it's hard, and you won't feel like it everyday, but you must be consistent for it to work. I'm at 72kg 169cm for about 3 years now (158.4 lbs and 5 ' and 6.53 "). I have to workout regularly not only for my health, but also I have to maintain perfect weight for snowboarding. I know I've gained 3 kg too much during summer (I was bit lazy this summer) (about 6lbs), and manage to get it off in 2 days. just with working out.
I lost weight last year by simply not eating my dinner at High School, heck the damn food vile to begin with.
After a while you'll probably begin to enjoy it, just stick with it and your body will begin releasing endorphins sooner or later. So, pretty much, you'll get a small high from running long distances. It's also pretty awesome because you'll be sitting there going, "I'm eating like 5 meals a day, but still losing weight. @_@" Anyway, if you're trying to go for weight loss, the main thing you want to focus on is how long you run and nothing else. 10 minutes of jogging (About 50%) burns about 100-200 calories for every 10 minutes depending on how fast your metabolism. As an added bonus you'll be losing extra calories from sweat, and the cool down. One of the biggest factors in losing weight is metabolism. Distance running will make your metabolism skyrocket, but if you really want to drop the weight, instead of eating 3 meals a day, each 6 smaller meals during the day. This will keep your body on it's toes and you'll lose weight much more efficiently. To me, (Sorry if this sounds rude) 390 sounds quite big, and when you run I almost guarantee you'll find some idiots who'll laugh at you. It's quite inevitable. However, take solace in this fact: You may be bigger than them, but you're definitely more fit than them, and even trying to improve yourself, therefore they have no right to laugh at you. Keep with it man, don't do this for anybody but yourself. Also try to get in some hills every week, it's always a great way to work your quads. By the way, 5K you say? What's your times? I'd love to compare :3 By the way by the way: ABSOLUTELY DO NOT STARVE OR PURGE. NEVER DO THIS. Starving, especially mixed with long distance running, will hurt you. It depletes your body of it's resources and forces it to run on the bare minimum in "starvation mode". This isn't a mode the body should be in for long since it's an EMERGENCY MODE, and you'll be running to boot. I already get sick and injured enough from it, and I stuff myself like a pig. The damage it could have on you if you decide to do these 2 at the same time would be devastating. Purging has some seriously nasty side effects. Kiss goodbye to your teeth if you do this. I absolutely will not allow you to hurt yourself in ways like this. Stay. The hell. Away from these. #Has lost 40lbs and runs half-marathons.
