Like the title says, how did you get your friends into MLP: FIM? However, if you weren't able to, then post about how people felt when they found out you were a brony. For me, the likelihood of getting them into MLP:FIM all had to do with how open-minded there were. I think I've got four to like it, but I'm only certain of like two. My friends mostly didn't mind that I'm into the show. Then again, I don't go again talking about it. The most I do is post pictures of MLP:FIM on my facebook account or post links, but there tends to be long gaps in-between when I post it. So my friends don't mind as much, but they do tease me a bit about it. It's generally, "You're obsessed with that show." There has been some questioning about why I like it and some teasing, but nothing much. My family sort of knows, but I just tell them it's anime and they don't question it beyond that.
I've failed to do so. Their response? I think they were somewhat amused. Also annoyed, But that's just me being myself.
I have converted one, but he was really open minded to begin with. Just showed him a few episodes and he watched the rest on his own merit. Now we are both trying to collect mcdonalds ponies .
I suggested they watch it. All of them did. Half of them became much bigger fans than I am <3 The other half stopped taking my advice.
I've succeeded in converting quite a few of my friends, including my girlfriend, and let me just say, it's pretty awesome have a girlfriend who is a brony. (Her favorite pony is Sweetie Bell) ANYWAY... I was very subtle in it. I pretty much just wore my shirt around as bait and when they asked about it I was pretty much like "Well it's a show that I watch." "...What's is it?" "My Little Pony." "You're kidding, right?" "Eh, it's a good show, you oughta try it" "...Erm Okay..." Obviously, they don't usually try it, unless I got lucky, which did happen a few times. Anyway, I would keep on wearing the shirts, and making stupid inside jokes with other bronies around them (To which if they asked about it I would just reply "You won't understand it"), so they developed a natural curiosity and just checked it out on their own. The rest is history.
My boyfriend thinks I'm mad for watching it. XD The only friend I have at uni liked it too when I told her I liked it, so I haven't really introduced it to anyone yet. XD
Actually, That's a pretty good way of going about converting people... Unfortunately, I own no pony shirts. Also, My friends fear for their sanity around me. ... I'm not joking; It's slightly unnerving.
I'm in the same situation as you. My friends never take me seriously either, which I guess, based on past events, is quite understandable
I never did but only one of my friend and it's my oldest friend since we were infants or Fillies. I never thought i see the day till i saw him become one. I kept it a secret from my friends till the day i hit the like button on My Little Pony. Months go by and i see my oldest friend hit the Like button as well. I asked him if he was a brony and he told me "Sorta." As months go by, his bronyism grew and grew and now He and I are crazy for MLP:FiM. He's really the only friend who is a brony. He's open minded so that works out. He almost has everything to being one but a shirt or figure but he just wants a shirt. I think his curious got him to be one like i did back in November of 2010. I don't Force people to become a brony but let them know i am one and maybe their curious minds will lead them the way to becoming one as well. That is my strategy.
I can't get my one friend into MLP. I got him to watch one episode, and unfortunately it never went further than that. It was my fault though... I made him watch the pilot UGH. I'm not saying the pilot is bad, in fact its very good, but its not the best episode to get someone interested... Should have tried Dragonshy, A Dog And Pony Show, Feeling Pinkie Keen, or the Season 2 pilots. I still bug him with pony memes, pics, videos and other funny things. Hopefully I can spark an interest in him.
Your post thinks of me trying so hard to get one of my friends into it and she being a girl and that she did favorite some pony related stuff on her DA, make me believe it would be possible but me going up to her and saying "Would you like to watch My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic?" is awkward on my side of the conversation and the possible chances of me flaring up in Fear, even tho she is aware of me watching it and doesn't mind at all and think god for her open mindedness but i don't want to shove the show into her face but trying of giving it a chance and why the show is Awesome.
Basically. He doesn't really think of anything with me being a brony. I explained to him why the show is awesome, and he promised to watch an episode, which he did. But I think its the pilot that turned him off from watching more. For someone very unfamiliar and somewhat skeptical about the show, watching the pilot would seem kind of boring. He didn't even watch the 2nd episode to AT LEAST see the defeat of Nightmare Moon. Oh well... Maybe I'll try to get him to start watching season 2.
Could of been the slow introduction of the characters in the first episode but really i think it was at a steady pace when it showing the introduction of the characters and the whole build up of Nightmare Moon kept me interest high till the cliff hanger left me in the dust and for my interest still high, i had to find out want was going to happen. From Episode 2, everypony must know what happen by now and i was latterly hooked on this show and continued from there. My Best guess really if you want your friend interested and hooked on this show is for you to introduce him to the season 2 opening of part 1 and 2 episodes. Discord was a more exciting character then Nightmare moon was but Man do i love Luna better then Celestia, but getting of topic here. Tell your friend to give you one last chance to convince him to liking the show. Show Him Season 2 Episode 1 & 2 and see what goes from there.
The one convert I have - well, I just talked a bit about the show, said she might like it, and it took a few months, but finally my wife watched "Dog and Pony Show" and was hitched. She's so Rarity!
My friend had asked what it feels like to be a brony, so I told him become one to know, i think hes a brony now, not sure tho...
