I've been thinking, Friendship is Magic is, undoubtedly, huge. Fans are far and wide, and incredibly devoted, even though most lie outside of the target audience. What's great about the show is how the creators acknowledge this, and really bridge the gap between the fans and them. But I was wondering if this could have an adverse effect on future series.

Just think, there is no way at all that Lauren Faust could have even imagined all brony phenomenon that ensued, so it's prettyobvious Friendship is Magic wasn't have been made for us. Yet this is what we fell in love with, a show that didn't acknowledge us in the beginning.
So, if the creators start to make episodes knowing that the main audience is teenage to adult males, won't it lose the charm that it had to begin with? By all means keep that special connection with the audience, I just don't want the show to stop doing what made it brilliant to begin with.
Basically, I wouldn't like it if the show was geared towards us bronies instead of the original target audience.

Just sharing my opinion, nothing more. I'm not saying this or that will happen, merely pondering.

P.S. I had no idea where to put this.

They should not acknowledge us in any direct way. I don't believe it's a good idea to cram the show with too many references to us. What they should is add in a few small nods to the Bronies. Something like Derpy carrying a mail bag, Lyra always sitting like a human, and making some fan names canon. I see nothing wrong about naming that little purple fillie Dinky or having Vinyl Scratch use her DJ Pon-3 stage name (they already did that in the Equestria Girls promo). Things like that would keep the show focused while also satisfying us.

Yeah, that would be ideal. We keep the connection to the creators, yet the show remains unchanged. Perfect!

I bet you guys in the next series they'll acknowledge us more with references toward MLP internet meme's and what not :p

...and like I said in another thread... They'll more that likely feature male ponies a lot more so us bronies don't get left out :>

well, I think authors of show knowing of bronies isn't bad thing. they know very well their job, and they know what we want: we want as good future seasons like season 1 was. only that they may bring new character or more vintage jokes (from old cartoons) like pinkie pie present one in Dragonshy episode (that's one of my favorite jokes in whole season). that one was dubbed from Daffy Duck cartoon from late 80's. so we could see more jokes like that (which is good thing if you ask me, since they are doing a very very good job).

I had thoughts about them trying to change the show based off of the fact that older males started watching the show. As zephyr wind said maybe make reference bronies, but overall i'm sure that the creators and everyone involved know what they need to do to keep the show spectacular.

Hasbro would go ape if the show began to dedicate itself to an audience that doesn't buy their toys as frequently.
With that in mind I doubt it'd be anything more then references

I agree the show should not be geared towards us. I say keep it the same, the episodes about fashion (which I was amazed i enjoyed) and even the cutie mark crusaders I was unsure about and love them too. The only thing hasbro need to do is make brony toys, or as we would call them figurines, not those brush able ponies and the pink celestias.

I would not be a fan of more male characters, keep the cast 90% female.

This is stupid but I think that they should acknowledge Lyra X Bonbon somehow, I mean, It's accepted by most bronies right? Besides that, it could help teach Love and Tolerance to young children.

    Views on this?

If they acknowledge us, and they know we love MLPFiM as it is, they'll not change it. Even a bit. I'd like to hear "Brony" as a non-formal word in the show, for instance. But that wouldn't rob the charm of the show out of it, it'll keep it the same way it is.

@Techna_Rave Well, I wouldn't really like that, but that's due to my distaste of shipping. I don't think they would include serious romances in a cartoon for little children (as if it is...). However, if they were going to do that, they would just cover it up as an episode that talks about the strong bonds of "friendship" *wink* *wink*

Nopony needs to be jumped, nopony deserves to have the crap beat out of them, nopony should have to be called *squee!*got, or c**k sucker. It hurts physically and Mentally. I can't bear to see anypony else go through that.

Tell me you're speaking hypothetically, and haven't actually gone through that sort of thing... because otherwise, that is among the most pathetic, pointless, ignorant and cruelest behaviour possible.

Hmmm...well I'm here if you need to talk about anything, I'm sure the others will be willing to also. However, for the sake of The thread, we should get back on topic. (stupid iPod battery about to die...)

I can tell from that post that you're in your school days (Middleschool, Highschool or College). Leave it, for "kids" don't know how to behave. They're in that time of life when being cruel satisfies them. I, myself, never found any satisfaction in that. This is another reason why I can't wait to grow up and have my own children. Childhood is good, only before you start going to school.
School's meant to teach you behavior? Bah, don't make me laugh. I have heard the first curse words in school, I have had the first fight in school, and for God's sake all the bad things i have done in my life weren't before school. I blame schools nowadays for making kids the way they are.

Aye. I'd be fine with references, actually I'd love some references, I just wouldn't want any drastic changes to appeal to bronies. I doubt anything like that would happen though.

Beh. Lyra X BonBon is just fans speculating. And besides, if they did that, with 90% of the cast being female the show could get a reputation as being lesbian feminist "Men are obsolete" propaganda. You have to consider things like this.

Bamboo's post of public hatred and contradictions

I'm sorry, but to all extents bronies should not be acknowledged. The reasons?

    1) It's funnier AND better if people see us bronies as a community instead of a fandom: not only it's more fun to do things hidden from others (and people usually pay more attention on you if you seem to hide something, which is a fun thing), but also we're taken more seriously than otakus and such - and this IS a bonus, trust me...
    2) They wouldn't just put lesbian couples and ponies in socks (which I deeply hate) just because the bronies want, unless MLP goes to Cartoon and they star in Adult Swim. And yes, we're lost in the middle of those sick guys.
    3) The show wouldn't be changed in any bit - they only put Ditzy Doo (or Bubbles, as I think it's better-fitting for her) because a majority liked her, but they don't even think about Dinky being her daughter and all the other refferences. I believe Hasbro would not bother to listen to a bunch of down to 20 old guys who watch little girls cartoons. In fact, they would even try to make us dislike the show, because most people think it's creepy. And prejudice wins over potential customers to corps.
    4) Sure, keeping 90% of the cast female is nice, not problem. What should be suggested was to create NICER and YOUNGER male characters. First off, all guys are pretty much nasty or unrelated old stallions.

    ^ Oh. So. This.
S.C.U.M. to me is as welcome as the Middle East rules that say men are "better" than women. Translation: Out of question.
And I myself dislike all couples in MLP in the show. The reason is because...

Besides, anypony noticed the lesser title of the show? "Friendship is magic". The best we will see is a filly staying loyal to her friends while kicking the butt of some idiotic jerk - like always... (as if the show doesn't do enough anti-male propaganda using nasty males already)

...WAIT!, they did that! But it was a female tomboyish friend instead of a boyfriend! Pssst, it's Gilda! Nice going, producers.

Also, don't try to force the homo thing into the show. Even nowadays, cartoons barely have refferences to straight coupling, yet alone homo. Hasbro does not want parents sueing them for anything, especially by making them acting "strange" (especially in such a traditional country like USA). So, sorry... Don't expect Lyra&BonBon outside fandom.
