Rainbow Dash was my favorite from the pilot episode, and she really maintained that the whole way through the season. She's so headstrong, and willing to jump right into the face of danger, that I found it hard not to like her. That and the way she stands out from most of the other ponies with not just her colors, but her general attitude. That's probably why I also like Applejack a lot, since they seem to have some similar character traits.
Ah Dash, she was one of my favorites from the beginning and still is. I love her high energy awesomeness and even have her as part of my ringtone! (It starts with the part of "God Gave Rock And Roll To You" right before the singing, Dash saying "It needs to be about 20% cooler", then goes into the Bill and Ted intro for the song.)
If you all want me to be painfully honest, Rainbow Dash is as simple as she sounds: winning is all about. And pretty much that doesn't make her such an important character, and to me she's as likeable as a side/background character. Some of you already said it about her insecure personality hidden by a rather bold way to treat and threat others. However, I pretty much think she once hung with Gilda because she wasn't fond of close friendships, since it's hard to keep friends, especially if they're away. One of the actual reasons is because Dash is not the kind to be disciplined into anything that doesn't make her feel confident, it always has to make cooler, because of both her insecure way and lazyness. The latter was probably the main motive of why she dropped out the flight school and was mocked by the idiotic jocks; one of them mentioned about her taking naps. She's not fond of anything else than flying and speed, which makes a boring character sometimes, comparing even to Applejack - who's also another rather simple personality. Their personalities make other characters such as Twilight and the CMC more likeable, because she's not really work to the deep, inner side, like Pinkie Pie. As for the homosexual thing, I agree wholesouly with the fandom thing (people want to pair up the max of characters, and MLP is an almost all-girl cast), and also I think it's the very same thing that happens in real life with tomboys, and with pretty much all the non-skirt-wearing girls and women: immature boys AND men who want to see girls making out because their hormones and brains are filled with nonsensical "lesbian" porn. And I am actually much surprised they find this hot, because it seems they don't know that lesbians don't like men at all...
Amen men to that *high hoof* Hormones meh who needs those to mess up life when I can do it myself. I do love a good tomboyish character. Probably the easiest to relate to out of the manecast.
Rainbow Dash is great character, always standing up for her friends, and sometimes, well, being little bit too competitive, hehe.
Rainbow Dash is best pony. Just saying. But really, I don't even know if I have many reasons for thinking Rainbow Dash is the best. She's awesome and all her parts in the songs are the best. I guess I don't try to figure out why I think Rainbow Dash is the best. I just sit here and talk about how awesome Rainbow Dash is instead!
Rainbow Dash... is just the coolest pony of them all! I mean, I owe my love to the show to her. The first time I made any contact of the show's material was a short video of the infamous 20% Cooler line. I was shocked that the show was that good, just judging by that clip. Now, you know that a pony is cool if said pony can judge other's coolness, clear a cloudy sky in ten seconds flat, and fly so fast that she causes a rainbow explosion. She's the most competitive pony and the most tomboyish, which is why she's so easy to relate to for me. She has really funny moments, and many other awesome moments. One only needs to link to a video of a Sonic Rainboom and BAM! Insta-cool. I mean, she's got a rainbow lightning bolt as a cutie-mak, what can top that! She's just the coolest pony there is. Enough said.
Rainbow Dash was the reason i started watching the show, the name Rainbow Dash was the thing that perked my interest. Back in high school when i was an immature pain in the neck, I'd say rainbows were gay but then i started reading the green lantern comic books and i realized the rainbow is just the color spectrum and how are all colors in a line gay. If i wear anything with the slight bit of a hint of rainbows i have co workers, family, and friends start asking if i'm gay. I then have tell them they need more education on the subject so i educate them. Plus i love watching MLP with the knowledge the each color is tied to an emotion. It seems I'm just attracted to tomboys. My wife, all my female friends, all tomboys. And only a few of them are lesbian. Not even 50%, I'd say. That's why I was undoubtedly attracted to RD from the start. As for the whole shipping thing, well, I kind of understand. We want to make more stories about them, and relationships are a big part of life, and, well, sometimes it seems like 90% of Ponyville is female. Are any of them lesbians? Short answer: No, they're cartoon characters. Long answer: In any kind of region where the population leans heavily towards one gender or the other, a certain amount of, a-hem!, fooling around will occur. People are people, and they get frisky, and being by yourself can get - well, not boring, but lonely I suppose is the right word. This is, in my opinion, probably just a small percentage of the population, less than 50% I'd guess. It also depends on the culture - America tends to be less touchy-feely than lots of other countries, and Equestria seems to be VERY touchy-feely, so, yeah, there's probably some fooling around in the barn. Simple, straightforward, without any reason to do anything but be the best pony she can be at any time.. It's hard not to like Rainbow Dash, isn't it? I mean, all the characters have their own super simplified personality traits, but maybe that's what makes them so easy to relate to.
I like the thought of her as a Lesbian because it kind of comforts me. I need to connect to something to feel safe, and one of my connections is this show. One of my connections to the show is thinking of her as a Lesbian. But that might just be because I'm gay myself. I think everyone should just drop it though. I hear what you're saying, and it makes sense, but other than Twilight Sparkle, who's cast into a sort of exploratory role for her entire personality as she learns, making her seem like she has more depth, most of the other five all suffer from the same 'plastic' role as Dash, just in different ways. Fluttershy = shy, ultra considerate, loves animals. Rarity = proud, fashion obsessed. Pinkie Pie = Eccentric, ultra friendly, loves to have all sorts of fun. etc.. Please don't take my oversimplification to mean that's all I think the characters are, but I suppose what I'm asking is, how is Rainbow Dash any different than super refined elements of her assigned personality traits just like the other four? (I hope I'm making sense.)
