The words 'everypony' 'anypony' 'somepony' and 'no pony' have all slipped into my vocabulary and I have to catch myself or people are like "wut?" I sing pony songs at random and have a whole playlist devoted to MLP on my Mp3 player When I get in a sticky situation my first thought is "what would (insert appropriate pony here) do?" I have no merchandise but will probably start collecting ponies sooner or later I know every episode by heart and even mouth the lines as I watch nope...I don't watch to much MLP, in fact I might not watch enough
I'm almost at that point. I've noticed myself using the pony vocabulary when I talk to myself (Yes I talk to myself, but it's not as insane as you might think) I'm ready to attack Hot topic when they finally stock men's sizes in the T-shirts I have piles of pony playlists (Alliteration, now what?) But as I become more and more of a fan it raises an awkward question: I realize that this is an awesome show and it completely deserves all the praise it gets, but what causes it to have so much fandom as compared to other really good shows such as Dr. Who and Dexter?(Both the cartoon and the Showtime one) If I had to guess it'd be the community, at least for me anyway.
Thank god I'm not the only person here who talks to themselves. As for it, everything has a large fanbase, especially when its well made.
This I realize, but even serious shows with a huge fanbase doesn't have a fanbase quite like the one we have here. And it's about ponies. Sometimes it still seems strange to me.
The reason this fanbase is so unique is not only because its WAY out of its demographic but also because the show was intended for little girls and that means...TOYS! Lots of unique merchandise comes out of this series and that gives even the bronies something to collect (Clothing, accessories, toys...). The fanbase of shows like Dr. Who and Dexter don't have a lot of collectable material while the Ponies got the goods. Another thing that sets this fanbase apart is the community. These ponies are an internet phenomenon (but did i really have to tell you that?) and the internet is now 20% more friendly and loving thanks to it. When you're talking about ponies it's hard to be angry and therefore the community has less drama. There's always gonna be haters and neighsayers but when you've got a community like this who really cares what haters say? I think thats what makes this fanbase so different from others.
I've also been getting Slurpees that match the color scheme of some of the ponies. For instance, today, I got Vinyl Scratch's basic color scheme today: 7-Up (main body), Mountain Dew Blueshock and a blue straw (for her mane)
