I thought I'd bump this for everyone that follows this thread. H8_Seed (fan musician) has recently come out to his father. I'll let you read the rest, just because the ensuing heart melt could cause a flood. http://h8seed.tumblr.com/post/14956156539/so-i-told-my-father-i-am-gay This news is a bit old, but I don't really follow Tumblrs--or care that it's old news. I found this when looking around another musician's stuff. I really should start following Tumblrs because it seems that everyone has one now.
I wish my family was like that. They would be the kind to flip out and probably poke fun at the situation. -- Sent from my Palm Pre using Forums
I guess I'm quite lucky. My family will accept next to anything within reason and it goes in between their rather broad lines of what to accept. bronyism would be out of those lines, but a lot would be in.
Let me give two examples. 1) when I bought comics, yes comics. The reaction- You can't like superheros you're not 7 years old. To them there is an age limit to comic and manga stuff. 2) when they found out about me being a brony. Like a month after I became one, so I was still in the stable. The reaction- my grandmorther claims that's why I don't like girls and that I'm gay. My aunt, she constantly pokes fun at me for it. Last time she came to my house I pretented to sleep for 5 hours just to avoid her. Yeah, they aren't the most understanding group. When they ask me why I don't have a girlfriend, I have to make jokes to avoid answering them. If the above to are such a big deal. Could you imagine if I told them I'm asexual. I predict nothing good coming for it. -- Sent from my Palm Pre using Forums
My family and friends gave up hounding me about my lack of a relationship because I constantly (and very harshly) point out how hard all of their relationships crashed and burned. So, to avoid me pointing that out, they don't bring it up anymore.
1) My dad LOVES comics. That is probably what got me liking them (this is not DC/Marvel comics, but rather Tintin, Asterix, Lucky Luke, Commando etc). I find manga as more of a teenager/young adult thing isn't it? I don't really pay attention to that sort of thing. My sister loves Manga and Anime. going to Tintin movie a day or so 2) While partially understandable, without any knowledge of the show apart from the fact that it's intended for younger females, there is no need for such behaviour as your grandmother calling you gay. That's really quite disgraceful. I will say however, that if my whole family knew (my sister knows and that's about it.... i think), I would not hear the end of it for a long time, Especially by one of my cousins who is constantly poking fun at me. Lighthearted, but annoying. None of my cousins, brother, sister, the eldest of which being 24(?) are married. Only about 5 out of 16 are in relationships. As such, I get no abuse from this being only 18. I'm straight, but if I told my family I wasn't , They would probably take it a little hard, seeing as our entire family is Christian (of which I don't really follow, something else they wouldn't take very easily), but they would love me just the same I think. I think my family being christian has helped them be more accepting to a rather broad range of things. I'm sorry to hear that your's isn't very accepting. I guess I was just brought up this way, and thought many other families were like that. ~I think we're getting a bit off-topic~:derpe:
Hello everypony! It's your fellow Community Officer here with some rather exciting news! Why yes, that special day came yesterday... As of right now, I'm happily dating a very sweet guy on here: Sonic Bluefire. To be honest, I never thought I'd fall in love with a guy in my life... I was quite disgusted by the idea, at first, but that soon faded away. After seeing the aforementioned relationships on here already, and being in several RPs with a certain somepony on here. Well, I guess that's what pushed me to becoming bicurious. I'm very happy I'm dating a kind, and sweet person on here, and he's happy that I'm dating him, too. We both love each other so much, too. :3 Look out, everypony, as there's a new couple trotting into Ponyville! ^_^ I love you, sweetie pie! <3
*Hugs Cyberpony Tightly* I am so happy for you, Brother! I wish both you and Sonic all the best in your relationship! ^_^ I'm glad to have played a role, albeit a minor one, in allowing you to open your heart to the idea. It's interesting how that works, because it's thanks to a certain somepony else that I even considered the idea back in October. It all started out with some RPs. I wouldn't say the RPs converted us, but rather, opened up our hearts to the idea. My mind was always open, but it took an extra push to open my heart as well. Congratulations to the both of you! <3
Congratulations Cyber, I really hope the best for you guys! And congratulations to you too Sonic Bluefire, Best of wishes to you as well! I propose a movement to rename the site to: eharpony.com (It's a terrible pun. I'm sorry.)
