humans react violently to what they don't understand and even worse so to change I think it is time to really start spreading the word I know bronies in the past have made videos to spread the word but I think we need to up the volume show the world that we're here to stay and what were all about things may get worse at first but just think how much better the world would be if we could sway even a quarter of the population to love and tolerance I'm not talking about making the whole world bronies, but if we could get them to share our ideas we could focus on more important things than war people are very stubborn, however if we don't relent than maybe just maybe we could live in a world were you can walk freely where we want to and do as we please without judgment maybe I'm a dreamer or maybe I'm the only one awake ether way no one person can change the world so I would ask of any and all who share my ideas to spread the word of love and tolerance (hope this didn't come off as arrogant or overly idealistic but I felt it had to be said)
I kinda wonder if we did get 1/4 or more of the world into MLP if world war 3 would be fought over if Rainbow Dash or Fluttershy is the best? Actually I don't think it would because we aren't fighting over it, even if we have our opinions, so lets do it!
That is very idealistic. I'm afraid, as hard as we try, this will never happen. There's plenty in our ranks to make a political party, but who would actually vote for us? Would we even succeed if we were voted in? Peace will never truly come to us.
i.ll have to agree with testayl it is very idealistic and is probably close to border on star trek lvl fandom
I'm not saying we need to force our ideas on others just make them easier to understand and while it is true that war is very much a big part of the world we could be so much more advanced with out it though even with love and tolerance greed still exists and nothing can change that all I'm stating is that we need to grow and with or even through that growth we may be able to impact the world around us for the better
Personally, I think we are doing that just fine right now. Hundreds of new people come across the show everyday. There is more than enough pony content to "stumble across". I find references to MLP or pictures where you would not even think they would exist. And word is spreading. We have appeared on newspapers; NY Times featured Brony as one of the words of 2011. The NY Post covered BroNYCon. Yes they are just NY papers, but BroNYCon is a large event, and many people follow those news sites. If someone reading "500+ grown men attending a convention dedicated to My Little Pony" doesn't spark interest for them to look it up for themselves, then I don't know what else will.
We're still floating in that "misunderstood" grey area. Give it time. The world is slowly accepting us, and I hope they soon accept the morals that the show attempts to convey.
I've asked before and I'll ask again because I have yet to hear of any. We all know hundreds of people are joining the herd every week, but how many have left the herd? I personally know of nopony that has left the herd. Does anyone know anyone that was once a brony but now no longer likes MLP or the fanbase? I'm not talking about people that have become busy or inactive for other reasons but still love it, just anyone that has completely left.
One of the things people find most annoying about bronies (with good reason) is how fanatically some of us are spamming non-pony sites in an attempt to convert. If we want acceptance, we should just let it go. We do our own thing, we shrug at the trolls, and welcome new members. But we should just keep to our own sites, and not start 'advertising'. Because forcing ponies down a possbily interested person's throat is the fastest way to turn them away from the fandom, fooooreverrrrrr. You got that?
As much as I'd love to have everyone be bronies, I don't think making videos and announcing our pressence is the right way to go about this. A lot of people hate us because we're so obnoxious about it at times. The best way to go about this is to just nudge people towards the idea instead of blaring it out loud. It's kind of like converting a friend, you don't just throw it at them, you purposely let them see a picture or two and get them to ask about it. Then when they learn just be like "Surprised me too man." Their curiousity will be their own undoing. The point is, there's no need to be anything more than subtle about this, we've been here for a year and we're obviously here to stay. Remember: Less is more
while you make a tremendously good point as I earlier stated I'm not talking about forcing it on people I was talking more on the side of helping people to understand why we like this show which doesn't necessarily mean spamming ponies in non-pony forums I was thinking we could put more stuff up in place that while hard to ignore don't force them into it ( I probably should have been a bit more clear about that sorry)
One or two of my friends watched the first 2 episodes and refused to watch the rest. Then again they've never become a proper brony. One problem with this whole idea is that as soon as we get a few trolls who join us, all hell will break loose. It would be nice if this were to happen but I don't see it working. But remember, when the rapture is upon us, all bronies will ascend to Equestria.
well I would hope after becoming one of us they would drop their troll ways but if they didn't it would indeed be bad I would kinda miss being an outcast anyway if nothing else I would hope this thread made for interesting conversation
This is a noble sentiment, but I think you have to keep in mind that the narrative you are advocating is a worldview based on/influenced by a children's cartoon show. I don't think that's a very convincing starting point. Neither, because everypony would already worship Trixie. Voting is violence! What are our ideas? Making them, whatever they are, easier to understand would go a long way. Eeyup. I'm quite positive that part of the appeal of this fandom is precisely because of its facade for trolls. It started as a trolling effort on 4chan. As in, two people are arguing and the troll puts up funny photos of ponies. He wins because if you get angry or continue, you look stupid getting angry at photos of ponies, and if you don't do anything, then he wins because he bullied you out with ponies, and everything thinks that's funny. So yes, I think the fandom is popular by quite a large margin of people who just hide behind the meme to continue being sarcastic dicks on the internet who are too dull to think of anything original or funny themselves, so they ride a popular meme and repeat it - like all the other ones they do - because they want people to respond to them.
Yes, this did pretty much start with Trolls, but what it has become is something completely different. I joined because my Brony friends didn't push it on me. If they had pushed it on me I doubt I would have responded. I do go to 4chan on some occasions but I don't really post on there and wasn't a part of that. I did see some pony pics from time to time on there but didn't really think much of it. It is friends on Kongregate that got me to watch it.
I didn't think you were planning to spam other sites. I know you mean well I just wanted to make that point. There's already a lot of videos and articles (being) made that explain why MLP is so awesome and good for human kind etc. There's no need to get pumped about making as much of them as possible, for that people may find annoying. We should just chill, do our thing and let it happen. It's going the right way
One of my friends at school who has recently become a brony keeps trying to turn others into bronies. When they get pissed off with him he says that they're hating on him because he's a brony. I keep telling him that people will watch it in their own time if the want and you're just putting them off. He's not as bad now but he still has much to learn.
I think most bronies get like that when first coming out of the stable. We feel so good and just want to share it with others. When they won't give it a chance we become frusterated and a bit too pushy. Of course we need to not be like that. Sometimes I wonder if I'm going a bit over too with some of my customers. I don't try to get them to join the herd so much but when I do see a video I really like I want to show it to someone. I think some of them are getting tired of it. They don't complain about it but do kinda laugh at me. Every once in awhile I do catch someone looking over my shoulder, and that makes me happy.
