Hey guys, thought I'd make a quick video explaining something about the two sites: Pardon the poor quality of image, I used my webcam to make this as fast as possible.
According to some thread on FiMU, some people had problems with EP. I won't go into specifics, but I'd say the problems were systematic. Normaly, and in this case, I don't condone people running away from their problems as opposed to confronting them, but hey, it's their choice. In any case, I'm just replying to this to point out that if anyone that's here has any problems, voice them! As a member of both EP and FiMU, I'd rather not see any enmity (Which there is, sadly) or for either community to wither or die. Facing whatever problems there may be (judging by the sudden large volume of people moving, there probably are), that is the first step in fixing the problems you have. Also, if you feel like you have to move there just because everyone else seems to be, remember : This isn't a unique commitment you're making when you sign up. Just read both!
That is a tasteless video. It is dull, sanctimonious, dishonest, and pointless. This sort of behavior seems to be endemic in these communities and it really must stop. If you're happy at FiM:U and left EP for x reason, then just keep it to yourself. This move is just "let's make a faux-diplomatic video to post on EP to draw attention to ourselves and our forum and underscore how totally vapid our lives must be to be consumed by so much pointless internet drama that is totally fabricated and exasperated by a few drama queens". I'm sorry I ever signed up on FiM:U.
@Manehattanite: Wow, Déjà vu. I thought I was back at Ponychan for a moment! @OP I'll just say what I've always told people in this situations: Whelp. *shrug* You can't expect people to drop hostilities, we are human after all! But this was somewhat unrequired or so is my point of view. Yup.
Lol'd. Then again, old habits die hard, as they say. While what you said about this being unnecessary IS for the most part true, you need to start learning how to use that tone of yours. It hardly puts you in a positive light, and thus, will tend to make both the correct and the obviously rage parts of your posts mostly unbelievable. >I'm sorry I ever signed up on FiM:U. Considering how often you post on either forum, and the general tone you seem to maintain, *shrugs*.
I can say that I didn't have any real expectations, I mean, how could one expect to make en entire community feel a certain way? That's madness. I just figured that we ought to try coming clean at least once. probably should've been a bit more clear with that, but I digress...
Okay, in all seriousness, rather unnecessary, since the point was already made before on the original thread.
I haven't been around long enough, recently to have any idea what is going on here. But I have to wonder what happened recently to make you decide to join a new forum. Not hostility just curiosity. I have a new Australian forum I post on, but I am rarer there then I am here. It's manely my local forum that takes up my time. All the best snowy. If I could give Manehatten reputation for his post I would.
I must say, I too, agree with Manehattanites post to a certain degree. Of course, the tone of the message made it seem a bit...
I really don't know what went on between the people that had issues with EP and left to FiMU. FiMU's mission statement is exactly what every forum should be and I'm sorry that just can't seem to be the case for everyone. I just hope that affiliation with one, the other, or both, doesn't cause an unnecessary rift between friends.
I agree with everything there EXCEPT for what I've highlighted in bold. After being community manager and admin for a while, I've learned that sometimes you need someone (or a group) to take charge and settle disputes or organize things, otherwise some things either won't get done, or good ideas may be dropped in favour of less favourable ones which are more popular. But this is just my opinion. I hope our communities can grow and interact with each other in a way which can always identify with what I hope we all think of when we think of what being a brony means to us.
As an... Unofficial medium between the two groups, I'll gladly search for ways to co-exist without people getting hostile over it.
I just want to point out that this was Snowy's doing all on his own as far as I know. It wasn't discussed on FiM:U before it was put here, at least not on the forum itself.
I should've been a bit more specific with which part. I don't feel such things as loyalty are necessary. I can understand it, but often times, it becomes a really blurry notion and leads to conflict. I like the forums I go to for discussing things and talking to others. When conflict becomes involved, it just isn't fun or educational. Thus, I feel everyone shouldn't feel *obligated* to go to a forums for any other reasons than their own. I mostly visit EP as far as forums go, but I occasionally glance at Vindictus (and fan forum HQ), League of Legends, and FiMU. My activity is most prominent on EP, but I don't feel anymore obligated to post here than anywhere else. I just go wherever and enjoy them all equally, regardless of activity.
To be honest, I have nothing to say. Forums can do whatever they please, because they won't affect me. Also, Manehattanite, please sort out that tone of yours. Honesty is good and all, but at least try to have some respect for others' opinions.
Oh, this I can agree with entirely. I truly hope I haven't come off as asking for 'loyalty' or anything the sort. I only wish to improve the everypony experience, no matter how often you come here. When I hear that people are leaving because of some fault of ours, I only wish to improve ourselves to improve the site for the brony community as a whole, not just 'our' community as some may call it.
Mhmm. ___ Anyways, I have an account for both forums, but either way I still don't what this topic is about. So I'll go with Test and say that I won't have anything else to say.
I'm confused... What exactly happened here that is making people want to leave? Slap me in the face if you want, I don't care, I'm just confused.
