I have been a brony (or pegasister..?) for a few months now. I just love the show. I just love the design and the caracters personalies, the songs and.. just everything. The ponies makes me happy, to see all that happines gives me a good mood.Im still at the stage where I watch the show and make fanart, but hides everything when someone looks (really stupid, I know, but I hate to get judged). But there's something that's annoying me.
I just descovered the vidios on youtube (yeah, maybe they are a little old, but I'm pretty new to the fandom) with people descussing the fandom, and they think we are weird. They said things like "How much shame do you think these bronies should feel?", why? I mean, seriously. I just don't understand why our fandom is much more different than other fandoms.

Today, I showed a drawing I made of Twilight to my dad, and he just gave me some sort of fake smile and said "It's very nice, you have skills. But it's maybe time to use your skills and start drawing other things than horses and... ponies.". I also showed him some fan made music, and he didn't even listen to the lyrics, he just said "I'm not so very interested in My Little Pony". My mum is about the same. I don't say my parents are mean or anything, but they seem to think I'm a bit crazy. My mum kind of support me a little, but dad don't know that I am a brony(how do I tell him that his doughter, the one he wants to become a rockstar, watches My little Pony?).
I have sort of made my two best friends to bronies (or pegasisters.. what ever, brony sounds best ^^), but they haven't given the show a real chance because they both aren't so good at english and I have basicly forbidden them to watch it in swedish, heh.

I think that those who give us bronies those frowns and think that the show is just for little girls haven't seen the show at all. It's not wrong to be a grown up man and watch My Little Pony, actually, those guys may be the coolest of all the men in the world. And still people think bronies are bad. Is there something wrong with being interested in the magic of friendship?! I think the show isn't just for little girls, I think it's a show for all ages, a family show.
I think that it's because of the older generations of MLP that people think we're childish. They have just gotten the wrong image of My Little Pony. To be honest, I feel sick of watching the older shows, sorry. But I have to say that I think they're a little too childish. The new show is awesome.
This show have changed lives for many people, including me.

You are never to old to learn about friendship.
"2011 was the year of the ponies. 2012 will be the year of friendship." It's gonna be our year. Make it happen.
I think we have become more than just bronies. We have become a family, even though we all don't know eachother that well, I feel we can talk about anything.
So thank you, bronies. For everything.

(sry if I brought old things up, but I just wrote down my feelings :3 And if my english was hard to understand, I'm sorry for that too, but I'm not so used to write my feelings in english :p)

I love reading these types of posts, it makes me glad that the show has impacted you so positively. Bronies are some of the nicest people I've ever met, I absolutely love this fandom. In the eyes of non-bronies and haters: the reason they think we have "shame" is simply because we like My Little Pony, but it's much more than that. We are never too old to learn about friendship and morals the show tells. And who cares about haters, just ignore them, they simply don't understand. And your parents will accept you being a brony in time.

Thank you, I agree, bronies rock! Brohoof* When I chat with somebrony, it feels like I've known them my whole life. But it's not so very easy to be a 14 year old brony here in Sweden tough. My friends frowns at me when I talk about ponies -.-'

I completely agree with you. In addition I have become more in touch with my feminine side. Not being afraid to use colours considered unmanly, hence my banner. Sometimes your parents will never get your interest in something unusual. Even my mum, who is a hippy that plays video games, tends to avoid commenting on my new obsession with MLP. She is like "ooookaaaay and in other new my dog is... blah blah blah.

But since I have made hundreds of friends and dozens of fairly close friends since the fandom started it is worth all the weird looks and reactions I get.

My best friend hated MLP enough to make a negative video about bronies. But since he noticed the fanbase grow and that I wasn't part of a crazy few idiots on the internet (before I had IRL bronies). he has apologised. I would show the video, but he deleted it out of shame of being so judgemental about it and bought into fox news stereotypes.

I really enjoyed your inspirational story. Don't worry at all about what your parents think. Be glad that they are at least not hostile about it. They may never understand, but then neither will a large portion of the world. Then again as you continue to enjoy it and do things, they may see the positive influence it has on you and begin to open up. It won't happen if you try to force it on them. I'm so glad I read your story and thank you for sharing it.

I have a friend who is bi-sexual and has conservative parents. He is terrified that is he comes out now his parents will blame this show.

    *brohoof

And I completely know what being an only brony feels like. I live in a small town, and no one even knows that the show exists, except for 2 of my friends, which I told them that I am a brony. They don't seem to have a problem with it, but they won't become one themselves. Oh well, their loss. :derpe:

I am lucky enough to live in a city that has gotten saturated with ponies.

I nearly never leave my house for more then 3 hours, without receiving a bro-hoof for my pony shirts.

I wish for you small town ponies to find other people soon. With the rate this is growing I'm sure you will.

If you have friends that you can trust. Try telling them about it. My friend that ended up hating it and not getting it is still my best friend. I have lost nothing from this and gained more then I cbf mentioning.

Eh, it's not so bad that I don't have any bronies in my town... *3 seconds later* WHYYYY!!!!!! Ok, I'm fine now. :derpe: But seriously, I'm actually fine that there are no bronies in my high school, there are so many immature people that would just ruin it. So here's hoping that college will have AT LEAST another fellow brony.
