I, testyal1, have been part of many communities, from online games to fora about linguistics. Naturally, I wasn't a brony during that era, for G4 didn't exist back then.

Then the ponies began entering my life. I watched the first episode, and was hooked immediately. I felt obliged to join the brony tribe. Then, somehow, I found out about this forum. I've no idea how, I just did. The community still felt rather sparse then, and I was simply a user on here. After that, I found out about how awesome EPR was. Once again, not many people went on it, excluding a few regulars. On the 15th of July, that all changed, and many - and I mean MANY - new people joined. Once again, I got to know them, and I too became known.

Last Friday, we all know what happened, I hope. I was one of the disbelievers in this, and didn't break until I had been bashed repeatedly. I felt rather depressed then, as most adolescents do, as I also felt rather guilty. Sunday, then, I posted a rather inappropriate link. I then felt rather depressed, for the same reason. We shall now head over to Monday, where I made a point about Flash's OC, which must have been taken rather hurtfully. Once again, depression. Today, I was named a troll by somepony I shall not name. This didn't help from yesterday's depression, and the general chat thread went on for three pages over this topic. Thankfully, it has been forgotten, and I hope shall never happen again.

Now, I've waffled on a bit, so I'd better get to the point. From reading that, you will see that I was rather depressed for those few days, mainly through my ignorance of other people's feelings. Before this community, I was highly antisocial and couldn't take criticism, or correctly give criticism to save my life. I was also a lazy slacker. However, that was before this community. You have radically improved my social ability, and my skills to actually write stuff like this. Simply put, without this community, I would still be a lazy slacker who does nowt. Therefore, I would like to all present you with a

    *BROHOOF*

I can't write to save my life. Someone give me a cup of English degree.

EDIT: Did I forget to mention that you lot are also very good at giving hugs?

Testy! I love you Testy! I love you very much!
If you ever have problems again and need someone to talk to you can always PM me! I'm so painfully unbiased ('cept when it comes to BronieTurtle but... that's kinda a given.) that I don't think I'll ever get angry with you or anyone for that matter! D: I'm sorry you went through all of that! But it's awesome that the bronynation has helped with your social ability! I love talking to you on EPR, you have no idea! I have an entire LIST of ponies I can't wait to see when I get on EPR! You are definitely one of those! Again, if you ever have troubles just shoot me a message and I"ll be right there for you! You are an awesome person, and I never would've thought you to not be good at being social! Not once! ^____^ *glomps!* Plus we all make our mistakes, god knows I'll make some at some point here! *cuddles* Iluffyou!!!

Test, you don't even have to question that every single user on this forum loves you. We're not obliged to, we don't have to love you. But we choose to, because you are an awesome guy.

Not a single person that has ever existed in the history of the universe was perfected, and there never will be. Every one of us makes mistakes, it's all part of life. Making mistakes doesn't matter at all. What does matter is the ability to look at these mistakes, take the positives, assess the negatives, and use the experience to become a better person. It's not even as if they were big mistakes, more slight misunderstandings. You're still young, and things like this will provide valuable experience for you in the future.

However, taking the positives can be difficult when coping with depression. Don't feel alone, I've had severe depression since before I was 10. I remember when all the other 8 year olds at primary school were running around, pretending they were Spiderman, I would be pondering the meaning of life, and being terrified of death because I was convinced my life was insignificant. I was 8.
I still have trouble with depression, so I don't feel like I can give too much advice on that. However, one thing I can say, is what you're doing is definitely along the right tracks. You're talking about your problems to a community that love, understand and listen to you.

The pony community spreads all across the internet, and while to some it's just another meme to provide a bandwagon to jump on, it's places like this where it really does mean something. You said it yourself, Everypony.com has improved your social skills, among other things. That's because everyone here cares about you.

So keep smiling, because whatever trouble you may have, whatever mistakes you may make, there's an army of bronies right here, and they've got your back.

And God damn you're right, hugs are like currency around here, and everyone's rich!

I used to deal with depression until about a year ago. It can be a hard thing to do but what I did was seriously just have an extremely positive attitude, even if it was fake, it still made me feel better.

If you can, try to do this.

    *Hug* You awkward pony :3

I'd actually never been on a forum before this, and I have to say, all this lovey dovey mushy blah is really weird to see.. And then I realize what banner we've all gathered under, and it's really inspiring. Being able to hug a bunch of goobers who all like ponies and to say that I love everyone in this community is weird to me, and yet here I am, every day, with a lot of love and hugs that I'm actually eager to give out.

I understand that depression doesn't go away easily, but I hope that you keep coming in to get your daily dose of pony pick me ups, because I for one, am happy to help add to the love fest.

    *Epic Brohoof!*

Hope you feel better... Weirdos. :derpe:

P.S. If anyone in the know wants to fill me in on whatever happened on the fifteenth, my curiosity is piqued. Just PM me if someone would be so kind.

You know, Storm Bolt has a point. I cannot think of a single website or other fandom that's as unique and supportive as this. I don't see Star Wars or Minecraft or Harry Potter or any other fandoms that collectively act like we do...it makes me think.....

I'd never even thought about the concept of love and tolerance before this community. It makes you warm and fuzzy inside. *Feels odd, but in a good way.*

Glad to see you're feeling better, Testyal! If you, or anypony for that matter, are going through a rough time, feel free to PM or Skype me (just mention EPR if you add me on Skype). I'm an excellent listener for those who need to vent.

    Also, *epic brohoof*

I agree with this. Although, I'm normally not one to join message boards. This is the second one I've ever been a part of. The previous one I was a part of was nowhere near as good as this one. Sure it had some nice people intermingled within, but I felt like I was one of the few that was actually kind to others. The concept of "love and tolerance" isn't a new one to me. It's a personal philosophy I've always held dear. I've always considered myself a very tolerant and open-minded individual and to see a community evolve that actually shares these feelings not only makes me happy, but I don't feel like the odd man out anymore. In fact, some of the compassion I see here makes me question if I'm even nice enough, haha. I don't think that's ever happened to me before.

@testyal1, I'm afraid I don't have much to add to what's already been said, but you're okay in my book. I've never had any issues with anypony here, and I hope to keep it that way. I did see the pages in the general chat thread pertaining to the conversation that you mentioned, but I wasn't around when those events transpired. I'm glad everything's better now though.

@notashamed He was just referencing the fact that a lot of new people joined us on the 15th, which was Brony Day. It caused quite a growth in EPR.

*Sigh* If only that were true.

Sorry for bumping this thread, but, even a month after another incident occurred, I still feel ashamed about it. Surely that's enough to stop me from offending again? I certainly hope so.
But, yes, this community is very tolerating, and I'm pleased about that. It gives me some boundaries as to what I can and cannot do. Keep up the good work, all of ya!
