I'm not a fan of MLP clop fics or MLP fanfics in general. I've read a couple of the popular ones like My Little Dashie (Cried like a 5yr old girl), Rainbow Factory (enjoyed and well written), Cupcakes (make rainbow cupcakes after- sorry, I'm sick) and so on. I will say I do enjoy the gore fics. I find something strangely fascinating about seeing a "pure" character exhibit twisted, homicidal traits. It reminds me of all those people who knew a serial killer that said to the press later after his trial "he seemed so normal and was so likable". I don't enjoy horror or gore in general but the MLP ones seem to draw me in for some reason. As for clop art- I'm not huge into MLP Rule 34. I do enjoy some Rule 34 fanart and fanfics but not really for this particular series. Most of what I've seen just doesn't set well with me as I generally prefer romance over violence when it comes to my Rule 34. I don't care if people like pairings, it doesn't matter to me. I just don't like when people try and shove it down peoples throats or only bringing that up when they talk about a series. I think fanart and fanfics are a good way to express hidden ideas and desires in a safe environment and that as long as children or unwilling viewers aren't exposed to it than who cares. I don't like if someone posts fanart of cupcakes or as there icon in an area where children can see it. It makes me sad though when people call Rainbow Dash a lesbian- not because I don't like the idea but because they usually say it in such a hateful way as if her possibly being a lesbian is wrong in some way. If Rainbow Dash was a lesbian in the show, I wouldn't care and I'd still watch and I'd also hope she could find a nice mare to love and make her happy. The same with any of the other characters.
Most people say it because of her personality and understanding of some of the other characters on more personal levels (Fluttershy/Pinkie Pie). I didn't know people said it in spite. That seems like such an odd thing to say. Either way, I love romance and it would just make the show that much happier in tone. I'm sure it won't happen canonically, but that's what fanfiction is for!
Basically, this. In my case, I'm a sucker for mind-breaking, which although gore is unrelated to, it is usually found in the same places. So I've learned to not mind.

As far as the "RD is lesbian" thing goes, all I have to say is "Guys, it's a little girl's show. About 75% of the characters you meet are girls, at best. Of course they're lesbian".
They don't exactly give us a diversity to work with when it comes to romance. Since they're already friends, it just seems practical and reasonable. I don't see why it's a bad thing.
Even though I only read romances in fanfic form I will say I'm a sucker for a good romance. I love to see two characters I've watched grow and develop love each other and make each other happy (porn not need). I agree with you- I like to see the characters happy because it makes me happy.
I've heard it said by people who are usually not as big of fans as us. Someone saw my RD icon on a website I was at and sent me a nasty note asking me why I'd promote a show that was destroying our future children with the "gay agenda" and asked me if I was trying to recruit people to my "sodomite ways" (rolls eyes) I told them, yes, I was recruiting and I only needed 5 more people to join the herd before I got a new 50inch flat screen and asked if they'd help me with my goal and maybe I could show them the ropes. They didn't reply back.
The only arguments I could think of is that it does seem a little out of character, and if you're not comfortable with that subject, it affects the field. Meh, as for me, I'm not interested in straight up romance in most cases, and shipping in particular doesn't fly for me, particularly for FiM-I don't think of the ponies in those terms. That said, I'm really interested in the episode with Cheerilee and Big Mac getting love poisoned by the CMC.
