I did it! I finally did it, I got the intro post up! I apoligize for it taking so long and being so long everypony, but I did it! Let's get started! Probably gonna need to PM everypony again....
not to sound cynical or anything but why isent there a RP about just chilling like the show? you know before some major life threatening stuff happens?
I like action way to much, but while I was gone I have been working on my plot making so it should now start to take longer for me to get to the action.
The little plot going right now is akin to the season starters for the show. I fully intend for us to go cover more normal scenarios as we go along. That said, we don't have a lot of momentum going right now(also partly my bad), so we exist in a state of story flux-What I'm saying is if we want to scrap the current plot and go forward with somehting more like the normal episodes, I'm not going to stop anyone, as those ultiuamtely are the stories I do want to tell and RP. It just made sense that in retconning and trying to revive this game, having something where we can bring all the players together makes sense, and a season opener type story worked for that purpose-that's why I did it this way. EDITTED PS: Another reason I did it this way is that a lot of the more normal episodes relies on an understanding of character-events are built around the character's persona's(whether or not they do more by bouncing them off of the other characters is a different question and the most noticable difference between seasons 1 and 2, but that's a rant for another time and place). This RP has been dead long enough that it is essentially a new RP(I really should just start a new thread or something like that), so people aren't even comfortable with their characters, so trying to come out of the gate with the normal episode type stories is a bit weird. Not undoable, but I'm not comfortable with trying that with the broad range of skill that's been expressed at this game. So a adventure gives us time to get to know our own characters and try and figure out what stories we want to tell with others, and that allows us to work with each other and see who and how the situations can be made into the best conflicts. Just my opinion, as I said, I'm not the GM, I'm just playing orchestrator for now.
@ Arcane - I never was the GM on this originally me and S.P. just took it over and started to make something out of it. If you want to go ahead and start a new story go for it, I will join in because it's fun not to continue it. Not to mention this one has been dead for too long and needs to just start over. Just my opinion on the matter.
I believe it's the last post on the page before the current last one in the old thread. SUPER MAGICAL EDIT!: Here: http://www.everypony.com/forums/sho...ic-Roleplay!!!&p=126505&viewfull=1#post126505
Nope. Just Vision. Part of the joy and idea of an OOC thread is it gives us a place where we can open source characters that aren't PC's, which leads to multiple people not only developing and refining a character, but also allows people to know how a character should act, what drives and moves them. The result of this is that you don't need one person to handle the bad guys or the die characters, you don't need a DM-each player can have the sides and villians do stuff in each post to keep the story moving along. We can even confer with one another one how the sequence goes. I realized a while ago that I might be delving into a more advanced form of roleplaying that people aren't comfortable with, but I'm willing to experiment and see how well we can make this work. But the idea is-If you as a player have an idea for what the villian should do, have him do it as it's pertinent in your own post. Zenith isn't as fleshed out as his source Incarnae(named the bad guy!), but he's essentially the impulsive and rash side of a person-he will do his damnest to act when he thinks he needs to, and to hell with anyone else UNLESS they are a much bigger force of persona than him-which can be hard to do since he's an aspect of a 1,000 year old alicorn. His goal is to cut the crap Incarnae is doing at Canterlot and simply cut the legs out from Equestria's powers by going and claiming the Elements of Harmony from the Ancient Castle of the Royal Pony Sisters, the problem being that since he got the information about the Elements from the same book as Twilight and not an informed person, he doesn't know that the Mane Six already got those-in essence, he's on a goose chase and doesn't know it. His impulsiveness leads to him missing a lot of details that can be used to hit him hard, but he has the advantage in that he is fairly fast and strong and still carries a fair amount of magic from Incarnae(Not as much as, say, a unicorn aspect would, but he's got some mojo going on), and the best way to deal with him-the Mane Six and the Elements of Harmony- are clear all the way in Canterlot. THe idea was to create a game where in the players can go through some adventures in the Everfree Forest and then play a stalling game with him until the Mane Six can respond(at least, in my head-if someone else has a better idea, I'm all ears), at which point the aspect returns to Incarnae via magic-y harmony stuff and the plaeyrs can go onto the more episodic type stories. At least, that's how I understood him. Anyone of you might have a better idea, and I encourage you to act on it. On, and did I mention that he doesn't know he's an aspect but literally think he's Incarnae's son? Anyways, like I said, these are just my thoughts on the matter. He doesn't have a lot of momentum, so you could shape him in a different way. PS:As an aside, I also let Vision have a similar sort of flexibility-So long as you can make a passable portrayal of him in posts, you can have him do stuff for the sake of expediency. In these early stages we might want to avoid that since no one really knows each others characters well(Or at least make sure there's some double checking with the PC's owner), but it's there.
