I liked this episode. Of course when the nurses and doctor are kicking Rainbow Dash our of the hospital I kept thinking "She must not have insurance". I think this was a good episode to encourage people to read and to not think that just because they are athletic that they can't be smart or enjoy books. I've known plenty of people who have been like that and thought that you either need to be smart or strong.
This is best Rainbow Dash episode yet. I really enjoyed every bit of it. Somewhat, message on end seems like it's towards to people who say bad things about mlp:fim, but never actually given it a shot. really, great great episode
I really liked this episode, Indiana Jones pony, kick ass! Good lesson for children reading is good as it helps you to be more articulate and direct in writing and conversation.
You should have seen the reactions at the meet "ZOMG TRIXIE! ...wait..." But yeah, awesome episode. Really great idea for a plot, and the message was nice as well. Nothing wrong with enjoying a good book, kids! Also, Rainbow Dash is best ninja
TwilightSprinkle's Review Corner: Read It and Weep To be honest here, when I saw the promo, I expected it to suck. But, I was amazingly surprised by this. The humor, action, and characterization rocked. Episodes like this and not "Owl's Well That Ends Well" make me miss you, Cindy Morrow. Please come back. Final Grade: A+
That was a great episode, I loved the traps in the temple, the fact that there was that blatant sense of imminent danger but the scene kept it's lighthearted, happy tone, just made me laugh. That probably didn't make sense to anypony. Oh well.
I have no complaints about the episode. I love to read books myself and was quite pleased that Rainbow Dash did eventually give it a chance. Lot's of hilarity ensued in this episode and has quickly become a favorite of mine! Plus I just loved all of the references to Indie and other things as well! I've never played battleship though even though I got that reference.
This one of the best episodes of the season because it had so many references and was so funny all around
Loved this episode, I can relate to Dashie as I was in the hospital myself recently. I always been a dedicated reader though, but try read with one arm. Fortunatly I had an audiobook on my cellphone. Still, almost crawled the walls from pony abstinence. Overall, Rainbow discovering reading reminds me of when I discovered ponies, it was basicly the same process.
I loved it! And I can relate to it because that's basically how you behaved when you discovered ponies, I remember being extremely scared that someone would come into my room and see me, lol. She even stayed up at night to read, I stay up exactly the same way to watch ponies, interact with the community and draw. Very Awesome episode! <3
I liked the episode. Even though I don't read much, I do enjoy doing a good book. I think the main reason she tried to hide it is because she kept saying how books were for nerds only and she didn't want to seem like a hypocrite.
I loved this episode! One of my favourites so far! What confuses me is that she hides the book because she wants to be cool, and then eats like a pig. I mean, a really creepy pig. Surely that can't be considered "cool" (though funny, and cute). She's still awesome though, and will always be best pony! Also, why do they keep skipping her letters!!?
I think this is a nice episode, but I fine that it is lacking something. I mean, I do like the action part and I thought it was clever of the writers to mirror the last Act with the action scenes in Daring Doo. I also thought the comedy was nice, but a bit lacking at moments. For example, the scene with Twilight and Fluttershy playing Battleship (or whatever the verison is in this show) was not that funny. I felt that the scene ran a little long and Rainbow Dash acted little like Rarity during that scene. But, hay, maybe that fits Rainbow Dash more than I think. When watching the epsiode, I believe that the Daring Doo scenes were filler to pad out the episode. Yes, they are important because it would make sense to show it, but the writers could've shorten it down. I bring this up because I would've like to seen an internal struggle with Rainbow Dash. For example, Rainbow Dash not understand why she likes to read or her trying to deny the fact that she likes to read. You know, like a person would react if they enjoyed something that they previously hated. Also, I found it a little strange that Fluttershy wasn't sad over the fact that Rainbow Dash was in the hospital, and I found it odd that Pinkie Pie was taken back by Rainbow Dash's eating habits. The rest of the episode I did like. Yes, it appears that I don't like it, but most of my complaints are minor and they only undermine the scene, not ruin it. Overall, I would give the episode an 8/10. Side Note: The Cold Open was, again, clever because it got around the problem of knowing what happen to Rainbow Dash without seeing it! I thought this was clever because I didn't believe that they would show Rainbow Dash breaking her wing because it wouldn't look right on screen, but they got around that problem pretty well.
Okay, so my prediction for how this episode went was incorrect, oh well. To sum this episode up: Awesome! I mean, it's a Dash episode! Of course it willbe awesome! That's either the third or fourth time I've heard that reaction to the barking pony in this episode. Not to imply that I have a problem with it, mind you. I guess I just don't see how that pony looks anything remotely like her. Me too! The first time I got in to this fandom, I think the latest I stayed up watching MLP was either until 3:00 or 3:30.
