In "Family Appreciation Day" Granny tells Applebloom's class about how Ponyville was founded by the Apple Family:

"Long ago when I was a little pony, things were very different here in Ponyville... 'cause there was no Ponyville!"
    — Granny Smith

Ok but then in "Winter Wrap Up" Twilight Sparkle tells Spike:

"No Spike, Ponyville was founded by Earth Ponies, so for hundreds of years they've never used magic to clean up winter."
    — Twilight Sparkle

So how the buck long do regular ponies live?

    that is interesting question.
I've imagined Granny Smith around 70-80 years old, but someone (from irl bronies) told me that he thought he heard something about Ponyville history in WWU, and that it didn't compute to him, but he wasn't sure if he heard it in wwu or some song/fanfic.
So with that in mind, it's now question not only for Granny Smith, but for all ponies. It's known that alicorns live very very long, but can it be that other ponies live longer then we expected?

Perhaps Twilight exaggerated, or maybe earth ponies had been cleaning winter in their previous settlements before Ponyville, and decided to continue their centuries old tradition the same.

Ponies obviously have extreme longevity, unless of course you're an alicorn, then you're invincible.

This makes sense to me. I should have learned by now that Ponies have their own logic and Physics and it would do me well not to question them or risk madness.

If you think about it, no-pony ever dies in the show. This can only mean that ponies are immortal. When the ponies reach a certain age, they get shunned by society and are forced to work underground as slaves for eternity. Granny Smith didn't want to work underground so when her time came, she ran away. Many years later, she came back. The ponies, thinking that she was a supernatural being, allowed her to stay and gave her a big ass farm.

That is the only possible explanation.

I do believe in Hearts and Hooves Day there was a funeral, yes? Therefore, one presumes that all ponies do die eventually.

That Granny Smith paradox is probably just a mistake that the writers made, which has been picked up by someone more observant than a hawk

May be a "funeral" is the ceremony in which they push a pony into a pit so that they stay there and work for the rest of there lives.

you have to put into consideration that MLP is a kids show. As such the creators don't expect people to spot these things, since these people are meant to be kids

Obviously. Nopony could question this logic.

I think that it's just a mistake by the writers. Details will be the death of any fictional story.

Since Granny Smith was around for the founding of Ponyville, I would say she's probably anywhere from 70-100, depending on what you want to belive.

Well Granny Smith says that she sold the first zapapple jam to Diamond Tiara's great-great grandfather. So that would be at least three generations. Supposing that it is close to a human generation that would be approximately 60 or so years. But then we see that the oldest member of the Rich family is Filthy. Who appears to be slightly older than Cherilee, who I'll estimate to be about 23. This would make it at least 83 years. Not counting any other time devoted to raising a community from just a farm, which would be what? mabye 10 or so years. That makes 93.

Does this make sense, or am i rambling too much?

I always pictured Granny Smith to be around 90 to 100.

I mean that fits the approximate age range that most seem to agree on. Oh and dont forget that when the farm was first founded she had to be at least twelve or something.

Ive always believed that she was between 80 and 90. But what age would she be when giving birth to applejack/ apple bloom as you have never seen if granny is their mother or granny and if she is their granny where's their mother/father.

That, my friend, is one of the biggest mysteries of this puzzle. However if she is mother, and not granny, and even if Applejack is 20 that would make Granny Smith, at the lowest estimated age of 80, at least 60 years old. Now I don't know about ponies, but humans aren't capable of birthing at such extreme ages.

Well, Celestia was around a 1000 years ago, and they never explained how or why. For all anyone cares, we can assume regular ponies live to be a few hundred years. :p

Well, the Luna incident happened roughly 1000 years ago. Celestia and Luna had been reigning before that. Also, the Apples had arrived sometime after Nightmare Moon's banishing.
