I'm considering recruiting a small cadre of long-standing members to help test future additions to site functionality and development. Their primary purpose being to bug-test and give feedback on new features (or suggest even newer ones).

I've not thought about this a GREAT deal yet, but I wanted to get an idea of how many people might be interested in putting their EP browsing experience at risk for the greater good of us all :p

    Any takers?

    Note;

    - I'd be wanting thorough feedback, possibly even small reports, not 'yeah it's ok' - BUT WHY is it ok? How could we improve it? What can we do next? Etc.
    - If you've got a lot of different browsers/PCs (resolutions/hardware/screen sizes) and are happy to test things multiple times on each one, you'd be a god send!
    - This is not, as of yet, an official staff position, although I'd like to quote "never say never". I just don't want people thinking this gets them in the staff skype chats or anything like that, it's volunteer work essentially, but much appreciated nonetheless!

    So any takers?

    ~ Grey

I'd be willing to apply for the position considering I:
    - Just managed to free up time to actually post here again
    - Have been a member of the forum for just over 4 months
    - Have access to a variety of browsers, OSs and machines to work with
    - Have suggested fixes/additions to the forum before
    - Am fairly knowledgable in modern media as well
As it's underlying workings, structures and limitations
    - Have on many occasions had to write reports on similar things
    - Performed a similar role on another forum

    Cheers,
    greyOne.

I'd be up for this. I have complete access to browsers available on Mac on a crisp 1920x1080 screen, and I'm also able to use all browsers on Windows through use of either Parallels or my laptop. I also have a smartphone.

    I'm quite interested!

I've done a bit of other beta testing, only programs, not web sites however.
I normally look at things perhaps over-analytically, which can lead to more info sought after
I have not been here long, but would love to help out where possible.
Although I normally use Chrome, if needed to, I can use the variety of web browsers.. Even if that does mean I have to use Internet Explorer :pff:

I have A LOT of time on my hands ie. have no uni until March, and am pretty much unemployed, so most of the time is spent on the computer, which means a lot of EP.

    Hope I can help!

...Well I don't fall under the "long-standing members" category. But I love bug testing things. While I don't have much experience with the coding behind websites, I've bug tested before with various programs and I enjoy testing new features and reporting bugs and all that stuff (plus I don't have a life and have too much time on my hands). I'd love to put my browsing experience at risk in order to make EPR a better place!:derpe:

I have my main computer with Windows 7 (new hardware), laptop with Windows 7 (old hardware), and a third laptop with Vista (very old hardware). I can also test site functionality with Android as well.

This sounds intriguing to me. I would be more than willing to assist in this task, and have pointed out some issues with site functionality in the past. I can go look at various different browsers, even ones that aren't well known, and test each of them. I've also got an older Android phone that I can use to test.

Suddenly the thread was getting much attention
Anymore. Likely for because it's not being seen by people.
    Technically bump, but actually constructive.
Is there a general expected time frame for this?

Ah, no. It's just an idea, it's all very dependent on what I tend to implement and when. I might enable the head navbar for some of you guys today or tomorrow, see how useful that proves.

From the example in the latest news report you gave, the new navbar you're thinking of implementing did look more streamlined. If you do enable it for us, I'll be curious to hear (or hopefully test myself) how it is.

Enjoy and PLEASE report back, that's the whole point of this... It is publicly accessible but not yet forced. So feel free to throw the link around. You can change back to network-forums (the standard layout) via the dropdown menu in the bottom left corner of the site.

    p.s.
The fictions section is intentionally locked.

Ok, I prefer the new format to the old. Doesn't take up nearly as much space and is a lot more streamlined.

The header bar works quite well,
Seems to be generally easier to access,
Even in terrible browsers like Opera Mini and Safari
    For the iPod.
The only problem I found was that the Facebook icon
Is displaced downwards for no particular reason
    When using Opera Mini.
Though that's probably because it's a terrible browser.
    Cheers.

Hmm... I'm actually just noticing something. Dolphin Browser on Android doesn't want to save my current layout choice for some reason. If I change the theme to anything then go to another page, it automatically switches back to Network Forums layout. Tried clearing cache and all that jazz, so my guess is a problem with the browser.

Edit: Same thing with the stock browser. Can anyone else confirm this?

    Theme won't commit;
Most likely because it's in dev.
    Confirmed.

I might have an idea how to fix the fb icon, but it'll have to wait until this evening. Is the lack of theme lock present on desktop browsers also?
