Aka: The "ponies" that don't really look like ponies at all! Even though they've only been a few episodes so far, how do you feel about these two? Do they make you laugh? Are they just plain stupid and annoying? Discuss these two "ponies" here! As for myself, I found them kind of annoying at first, but they've really grown on me over time. They're probably my third favorite minor characters. Zecor being my most favorite, and Gilda being my second. Discuss
Well... I think it's a swing at Canadians. I don't have anything against Canadians, but (Snips?) sounds Canadian. Uh... The other one (Snails?). He's just his side kick I guess. Honestly. I believe their names came from the PPG. The Rowdy Rough Boys.
Never liked these two, really. They are just plain stupid and annoying . Though I liked Trixie... Maybe that's why I don't like these two? ...At least I know I won't make emoticons of them.
Nah they got on my nerves to, I mean I wouldn't desire their removal but I sure as hell won't miss any future absence. Trixie however WILL return or heads might jus' start a rollin'

I know this thread is ancient, but I actually think they're adorable! Snails is Squirmy + Draggle. Apparently, a baby girl and a young woman = a preteen dude. There's Squirmy. Anyway, Snips and Snails are both hilarious and cute in my eyes. On the other hoof, Trixie's just a pain in the arse.
I can't say I've ever liked them... Most likely due to their voices. If there's any context to them returning, I think it'd likely be in conjunction with a Trixie appearance.
While I wholeheartdely agree about Trixie - hell, am I the only one who sees her like (classic) Team Rocket?, I disagree with the boys. Fortunately, if they ever appear in future, they'll be some more important characters. I don't think they should disappear because we should have actual boys in this show. Where are the other boys beside them?
Doesn't anyone notice that their anti-thesis is Spike, another boy around their age? It baffles me how no one notices this. I bet you there are other grounded pony boys, we've seen some in the background, and I bet you those other grounded pony boys aren't very accepting of the little imps. They have their reasons for sticking together, I'm sure. I say grounded because I remember pegasi boys with more lines.
Since when did she ruin their face? She's as healthy as every other pony. Snips 'n' snails, however, are ugly and idiotic.

I can imagine if Trixie ruled Equestria and one pony wasn't paying his taxes. He'd be brought before her and it'd go like this: Trixie: "You know the laws of this land yet you REFUSE TO FOLLOW THEM!" Poor Sap: "My apologies, your highness, but-" Trixie: "Excuse me?" Poor Sap: "Y-yes, your highness?" Trixie: "I can't help but notice that you're referring to me as "Your Highness." Poor Sap: "Y-y...yes?" Trixie: "Have I not made it clear to all ponies in this land that I AM TO BE CALLED "HER ROYAL GREAT AND POWERFULNESS?!?" Poor Sap: *gasp* "I apologize, Your Royal Great and Powerfulness! I promise I-" Trixie: "TO THE DUNGEON WITH YOU!" *guards grab Poor Sap and start dragging him away* Poor Sap: "No, please, I didn't mean it, Your Royal Great and Powerfulness! I'M SORRY! I'M SO SOR-" *throne room doors slam* Anyways, back on topic. I didn't really think all that much about Snips and Snails going through the episode. I only found them to be plot devices. Now, going back and looking at them, I guess every show has to have its pair of inseparable morons, and Snips and Snails definitely serve this purpose well. They also fit into the whole "Dumb and Dumber" thing nicely, with Snips obviously knowing more about what's going on than Snails(maybe it's the names; one's sharp[term used loosely], the other's slow). Now, I'm not saying that the only thing they're good for is being plot-forcing buffoons; they definitely have enough of personalities to distinguish between the two. However, they seem to be too clingy to Trixie. I suppose that if it weren't for that, the whole Ursa Minor incident wouldn't have happened, but they're too quick to find someone to admire, even going so far as to throw all of Ponyville into a state of peril only to prove her supposed "great and powerfulness." Overall, I think that they're okay characters; not really annoying, but not particularly engaging, either.
"Snips and Snails" is a kind of "gag" i like to call "Forced laughing". In my opinion, a too much forced personality (in this case, stupidity) is never funny. It would be even funnier if they had an intelligent moment or two throughout the episode, the irony upon their personality that would spawn from this "moment" would make us all laugh. Something likeL add a pipe in Snips mouth, and make him say "...quite.". That would, at least, make me laugh... maybe. Though, that's only wishful thinking. These two characters did not leave any kind of impact upon me. They're really forgettable, the only thing I remember from them is their weird design. Other than that, no. Never would've thought about them. Now, on the contrary, The over the topness of "Trixie" is something that is enjoyable. She's so evil, so proud and so stubborn... I think she's the only character i've seen so far that doesn't really fit in "Forced laughing". The personality is forced, yes, but it might just be because of the combination they used for this character's personality that makes her so enjoyable and unique - I think i've seen a villain or two that are evil and stubborn, but proud... I don't really recall such characters. Trixie definitely is one of my favorite characters from MLP, and I surely hope she doesn't return in season 2; Because if she did, she'd not be so respected and funny anymore. The only evil character i can see returning is Gilda, because she has a special bond to Rainbow Dash. Trixie, on the other hand, was just a "pass-by" character - there to fill the plot.
Before I get expelled from the forum, this is not a thread about Trixie. And I still can't really like her because she's... Well, she's interesting, but I still dislike the Team Rocket vibe she has. It keeps me from liking her outside teh LuLz, somehow. They'll be here in the future to prove that the moronic boys can be smart, too. Probably getting closer to the Cutie Mark Crusaders, or even helping them (at least trying to). It'd be nice to see them doing something other than being... Weird.
Generally speaking, people are harsher on their own gender, and this fandom is male-dominated. Poor little boogers.
I have always been somewhat gender-neutral, and people who I hate, I hate. It doesn't matter what their gender is.
They look weird, indeed. At least they're the proof that this show isn't so girly after all. I like how they break the pinky barrier. And if you want me to be honest, I think they're more normal than Pinkie Pie.
