What the buck happened to Megaupload?

It seems that half of downloadable content on the internet is gone. What happened?

Actually, it wasn't SOPA or ACTA. They were racketeering; basically laundering money from premium members while threatening them if they didn't.

    Megaupload brought it upon themselves.

What? Megaupload being taken down had nothing to do with ACTA, the FBI had been after it for years. Megaupload was been taken down without any help from SOPA, PIPA or ACTA, since it was clearly a largely illegal operation. The FBI just needed the legal weight to shut it down, which they eventually got.

Just read the post, and I am glad I wasn't one of the "premium members". I had always thought that was just a ripoff in the first place. Pay money so you can download content faster? Can't you just have patience? Apparently, alot of people missing this virtue helped with the shutdown with this website.

But worse than the members are the people who run the website. Shame on them.

Those guys are going away for life for approx. 1000000 copyright violations, a LOT of racketeering, and approx. 500,000 cases of Money Laundering.

Oh I'd love to see the price of those CP Violations...

yeah, the founders just got bail from prison a few days ago, if I read the news correctly. Racketeering, massive copyright violations, and all sorts of illegal stuff (and I wouldn't blame the premium members, as they were hardly notified about any sort of extortion or laundering)
