So, I have a friend who is rather... well, she isn't really that skinny. I love her for who she is, though. We all do, because she's got this great, sparkly personality. She's nice to everyone. Apparently, the fact that she belongs to a certain demographic makes it okay for some company and their weight-loss program (HCG Ultra) to hack her Facebook page and post this: Here's that link: http://health-news.articles.review.vagmi.bbcdata.com/?subid=sp This is sad and stupid. How is this okay? Companies shouldn't be able to pose as somebody and use their online account (on any website) to promote their products. The dumbest part is that we don't even want her to lose weight. She's perfect the way she is! But these people have to come in and hurt her self-esteem... You know, she felt really bad after this. What do you guys think? Has this ever happened to you?
No they need to hack her account, which is illegal. So far they: Have falsely advertised there product. And have illegally hacked someones account. That is a huge fine there.
Most other people will point out how legal/illegal it is so I'll consider the ways it could've happened in the first place. Did she sign up for something else using the same e-mail and password as her facebook? I doubt facebook would've let them do it. Another alternative is that they have special software to do it. Something similar happened to my twitter so I changed my password and it's been safe since. I think that I may've signed up for something using the same details.
Why would any company do such an action? A business with a boss with his head screwed on the right way would have easily seen the risks and legal issues by "hacking" into someone's account. However, the company looks legit and professional, so this action perplexes me. Are you sure she was directly hacked? Sometimes we all click the wrong links and she might have agreed to something ages ago that would cause this to occur. I don't know, but if you're sure it is a hack... report it. Although I doubt it's a hack at all. Businesses such as these aren't that desperate or stupid.
I don't think I have to say how stupid that is. Report them to whoever you can report that to. Nuff said
The Machine God is not pleased! May their computers receive a machine curse and never work properly again!
I got hacked by ad-scammers posting fake updates that people would click on thinking I recommended it. Best thing you can do is lock your FB down real tight and rotate shield frequencies ...er passwords, yeah that's it.
I remember a couple years ago my friend and his friends' accounts were hacked and spammed male enhancement ads to everyone. That was quite a headache, but I don't use that site anymore... not that anyone does! ZING!
It's not quite the same thing, but my facebook keeps posting a disgusting spider video and sending people links about a tournament in which you can win an iPhone. It is extremely irritating, I don't know how the hell they did it, and I don't know what to do. Although I haven't seen complaints for a while, So I believe it is gone... For the time being.
That's disgusting. But yeah, from what I gather Facebook isn't so great a company to begin with. Isn't their goal basically to gather as much personal details as possible, for advertising purposes and such? Worst thing is that once they have you, they make it very hard for you to quit Facebook.
I've been seeing this a lot more recently. Someone I know was, for lack of a better word, "hacked", and her account sent messages trying to get people to buy shirts from some site. Dunno how that happens. Maybe it's their fault for not reading all the fine print before clicking agree, but I think we can agree it's still immoral, right? Yeah, Facebook sucks... So why do I still have one? Well, it's kinda convenient for keeping in-touch with friends who don't live around here anymore... Though undoubtedly I'll get rid of it eventually. Probably as soon as I try to get a real job when I'm in college. The only trouble is that my best friend is moving to California, so I really want to have normal interactions with her. Facebook promises that. I don't know, I guess I'll figure it all out as it comes.
I think this is more of a combination between Phising and hacking. I've seen these. Not for weight loss, But just random stuff. This person posted a picture with a link. My friend clicked that link, and afterwards he posted it too. Same mighta happened with your friend. She clicked the link, Got Malware, Link posted. It's spreading like the plague. Is this a one-time only post, or does it happen often? running a system scan to make sure you got rid of the virus, and then changing your password might fix it.
