I don't think it really warrants an announcement but for those who are curious or concered; the recent length of downtime was due to the crashing of a database table. It happens. Nothing that we can predict or 'solve' caused it, we were just unlucky. It is actually rather easy to fix such issues now a days with self repair functions but sadly this happened at a most inconvinient time and no one with server access was around to rectify it. In short don't worry/panic and please except our most humble apologies. Also note you do not have to worry about privacy concerns, password changing or similar as this incident (thankfully) wasn't maliciously found. The fix actually took/takes about 2mins, but I wasn't 100% sure what the problem was and was at work during the duration (so only had my phone). Ghan managed to fix it but he's American (I think) so was asleep, again for the duration. Just horrible timing really. If that had happened between 6PM and 10PM (GMT-0) nopony probably would've noticed before it'd been fixed :/ Oh well, I'm just glad it was nothing severe.
Ah well, it gave me a reason to actually go to bed, so there's a plus! :derpe: Glad to hear that this was just a crash and not a malicious attempt to steal information.
It was down at around 10:15 last night (Central Standard Time) and was still down at around 7:50am(the time I left the house). I was dumbfounded, good to know there's always a rational explanation for things like these and it wasn't some sort of hacker.
I completely missed the whole thing but I got the tweet and have read this thread. Glad to know that everything is fine.
