Hey everypony, Foxytail here! Got something that y'all might be interested in, so listen up! After some discussion, the staff has allowed me to trial giving out custom user titles to certain members of the forums! As you all know, we currently don't allow you to decide your own user titles. Some are unhappy with this, some indifferent, but we've noticed that some members of the forum have contributed a fair amount to the community and we'd like to recognize their input as well as giving them something to reward their input. This is where this comes in! What we are testing out is for you, the users, to nominate others for a custom user title to recognize them for what they've done. Of course, there are some rules for nominations which will follow. NOTE: These rules are subject to change due to the trial nature of this, so please be aware of them! RULES: 1. The amount of time the nominee has been a member of the forums is NOT a factor in being chosen. New members who've made a difference are just as welcome and eligible as a long standing user. If you think a new member deserves recognition, don't be afraid to nominate just because they haven't been here long! 2. The nominee must have contributed to the entire community in a meaningful way. I know it would be tempting to nominate your best friend for something they've done to help you and/or your group of friends, but we ask that you do not do so, unless your group of friends consists of the entire community (and on this site, why wouldn't it be?)! As for a meaningful way, that could be a number of ways! - Contributing to the radio community - Contributing to the RP community - Contributing to the writing community - Contributing to the forums in general These are just ideas though, so if you think they've done something for everyone to enjoy, speak up! 3. The contribution must be clear to the community. If it's hard for us to see how they have benefited the community, then it's hard for us to state the reason they've earned it. The title would always be related to the reason earned, so the contribution must be clear for us to award it! 4. Staff may award titles without a nomination. Though we like to avoid calls of favouritism and biased treatment, if there is a user who has clearly put in a lot of time, effort and input to the community, then we will announce plans to give them a title. After a period to allow for any objections, these users will be given their titles. So keep doing what all you awesome bronies are doing and you will be recognised! I will repeat here, rules may be changed due to the trial nature of this, so please stay aware of any rule changes! So with that out of the way, how does one nominate? Simple. You send me a direct PM through the forums with the words TITLE NOMINATION as the subject. Every two weeks, I shall compile a list of nominations and talk them over with the community patrol where we will do our research to ensure the validity of the nominations. After that, the names will be contacted through PM about their title. Once confirmed, the users names and new titles will be posted in a new thread. This sounds like a good Idea. I wouldn't mind being called a Jedi Master :derpe: lol Jokes aside. This could work out very very well. It might even act as an incentive for some users, you never know.
How exciting! I think this is a pretty cool idea. It'll be interesting to see who gets titles and what they'll be.

I'm assuming it's the bit underneath one's name. For instance, both our one's are Junior Member. At least I think so, someone correct me if I'm wrong.
Sounds like a great idea, I've seen a couple of other forums do the same and it's always been well-received. I saw a system someone had set up where you rose through ranks and got badges depending on how much you spent in their store, which was pretty fun since no-one took it seriously anyway. Looks like it could complement the cutie marks too, can't wait to see what people come up with!
This should prove to be an interesting implementation. I'm sure those who do receive a custom title will be well deserving of it. I should keep an eye out so I can give them a congratulations.
Heh, this reminds me of SMW Central, where you can select different ranksets. For example, in the Mario set, you can go from something like a Shy Guy, to a Koopa, to something else, etc; and there's infinite ranks in the Touhou set.
Never heard of a nominating system for user titles, but awesome that we can finally have customs now!
