When I get into high school, should I... -Go for a STEM (science, tech, engineering, math) -or go for medical stuff? (AP Psychology) I like Medical studies more, but I can get into WPI (really good engineering college) for free. What should I do? I also like engineering.
A Bostonian engineering brony? why haven't we met before? But my advice would be this. Take an elementary class for both subjects if you're on the fence about it. I'm looking at aeronautical engineering (I visited WPI last summer, actually), and its a lotta work. If you don't absolutely love it, then it isn't for you. If you like medical sciences more, then I'd say choose that one. Cost shouldn't be a priority over what you want to do.
You can literally settle for both. With recent advances in technology they've begun working on ways to replace human organs through machines and whatnot. So far they've made amazing progress on the human heart in particular by utilizing small turbine engines to replace the organ in some people. The only side effect is that the people now lack a pulse, which was thought to be vital to life, but now has been proven to not be a prerequisite. I was going to go into a surgical field before I decided to become a pilot.
I kind of want one of those now but i don't need it.I could act like a Zombie and scare the crap outta people.
This is awesome in many ways, but am i the only one sorta concerned for the cow? I mean, what if it didnt work? *sigh* animal testing...cant live with it, cant live without it.
you can live without animal testing, but that's another topic now anway, on topic: yes, you can combine both, there's programs in my college where they combine medicine and electric/computer engineering. Basically, what you'd be able to do in futire is to design, mantain and work on medical equipment (and by medical equipment I think on stuff like this: http://www.wired.com/images/article/full/2008/04/toshiba_ct_scanner_630px.jpg so. both areas are very interesting, and can get you great job. but it'd be best if you can find program that combines it both, specailly if you're good at both and interested in it
