In terms of bringing people to justice, low level criminals should definitely be revised into some kind of community work. Especially such things as drug users and such, throwing them in a jail doesn't do much to help them or anyone else. When it comes to people like Kony it's very hard to say what the right course of action is. I'm not for the death penalty but he must be dealt with in some way.
I don't think anything could be done for him. Just let him rot in prison I suppose. Ruthless people like him have no regard for human life. His sick twisted mind would make the death penalty pointless as he'd probably not care, or perhaps want death as an escape. So how do you deal with someone like that...? Simple answer: You can't.
The problem is if he gets to escape. Although I didn't see the vid now, and I'm only going to stay here for enough time to finish a post, so I'll have to watch this tomorrow.
This is horrible. Thank you for giving a *squee!* and spreading the word. I must let others know about this.
Posting this all over the interwebs :I I dont normally look at these sorts of things and take the time to do anything, but this has been going on way to long. Its time we use the internet to really do something and help alot of people. I dont think we should just put him to death either. Thats too easy. He should have to spend out his days locked away and forced to think about the things that he's done. Chances are, he's not going to care, but theres are least the possibility of him to feel all sorts of remorse over what he's done. Not so that he can say 'oops sorry' but so that he can suffer knowing what a huge monster he is.
The saddest thing is that this showed up on the League of Legends forums and got downvoted and *squee!* talked. This current generation is trash (no offense to anyone as I'm an outlier part of it, too) in morals and respect. It disgusts me...
I still haven't seen the video yet. I'm stuck at work, when I get home I'll give my 2 cents. From what I gather this sounds like that one andrew guy from a few months back. -- Sent from my Palm Pre using Forums
> Watched the video yesterday with 5,000 views. > Checks again. > Nearly 8,000,000 views. The power of the internet. EDIT: Now 9,000,000... geez.
This showed up on my Tumblr and it is a bit worrisome, if slightly negligible in the intent it attacks: http://visiblechildren.tumblr.com.nyud.net/ I don't think the mission intent is bad, but I can understand how this might damage the images they attempt to maintain.
Eh, there's gotta be opposition with everything, it's to be expected. I'm pretty certain supporters of KONY 2012 will immensely outweigh those who oppose it.
That guy came and spoke at my school a couple of years ago, with Jacob. Besides that, I don't think I've ever heard any one else talk about Kony or Invisible children. I'm glad word is getting around.
If I win the bake sale competition at work next week I get to pick the charity that the sales go to. I'm going to pick Invisible Children if I win. Which I should, because my cookies are awesome. Thanks for the recipe grandma! /reading more about this is making me rethink that decision... Engineers Without Borders would be my next choice. What do you think?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I01ER2H1j0A&feature=related I'm skeptical. This guy brings up valid points, and some evidence points to this being a scam to line some people's coffers. Before doing anything, research this group and decide for yourself. For me, this organization is too big to do anything with, specifically because somewhere down the line, someone is lining their own pockets in this whole situation. This is also a comment by a northern Ugandan resident: First of all as a person from Northern Uganda, I would like to thank you, the Martin County Children for your effort to assist the children of Northern Uganda. How ever i am also sad to say that Organisation like 'Invisible children' have turned from caring organisations to Fraudulent and scam. The directors of Invisible children forgot what they stated back in 2005 and have now turned to greed. Only less than 25% of money they have been raising in the name of the children of Northern Uganda gets there to the children. The directors of Invisible children have turned this money to become their very personal money. The directors now drive expensive cars and refer to themselves as Movie directors. They have been shunned by all international Northern Uganda associations in Canda, UK, Sweden and even in Sandiego USA. Associations such as "acholi in diaspora"(canada) Acholi association(UK) Freinds for Peace in africa(USA). Peace in Northern Uganda group(Sweden). "Campaign to end genocide in Northern Uganada)(USA) and many more. "invisible children' functions are boycotted by many ugandans who are aware that they recieved bribes from General Salim Saleh to focus the suffering of the Northern Uganda Children to the Rebels...rather than tell the whole truth that both the rebels and Uganda government ave comitted atrocities and Genocide againts the acholi people of Northern Uganda.. Northern Uganda members of parliament have added 'invisible children' to their list Of NGO's under investigation for fraud. They have been requested to publicly declare their accounts since 2005 however untill today that has not been done. Your contributions are better off being sent directly to the children in Northern Uganda rather than to enrich the directors of 'invisible children' However we leave it to God to be the judge. Thank you and God bless all of you More Evidence: You can get the Better Business Bureau F rating info online. They have failed to submit reports since 2006 and are red flagged. You can also look at the financial statements they do post and see that they have an extremely large amount of administrative cost and they even try to list the bracelet campaign as an aid expense when it is actually an advertising expense for promotion and activism...it does not help the children. Actually less then 25 percent of what they take in goes to the field to aid children. Their offices are in one of the most expensive cities in the west coast. Scam. --------------------------------------------- Either that, or it's all just one huge coincidence.
