But within the walls of Canterlot Castle, it was anything but pleasant. Just days before, the royal sisters received their usual bags of fan mail from their adoring subjects. The younger of the two sisters, Luna, received a little extra in the form of a small brown box, and inside an oddly colored purple jewel hanging from a string; the box was signed "a fan". Shortly thereafter, Luna began acting strange; She would neither eat nor sleep. She wouldn't even talk to her sister. A day later, she suddenly disappears from the castle without so much of a clop of her hoof on the castle's stone floor. Her elder sister, Princess Celestia, fears the worst and summons the wielders of the Elements of Harmony to her side to aid her in bringing Luna back to the castle... That is, if they can find her... What happened to Princess Luna? Is there a chance that Nightmare Moon could return once more, and what role does the jewel that Luna now wears around her neck play? It's swiftly approaching the halfway mark now. I know it doesn't need explaining, but I have already decided on the final title and had someone generously donate a logo for the title screen. All will be revealed in the next big trailer sometime in the next few months.
Someone donated a logo? I wonder who did that. On another note, though, i have to ask - is the resolution 320x240? And can the RPG maker 2003 go beyond that resolution? Or is it all depending on the quality of the pixel art (quality as in, size)? That's all I've really wondered about, the tiny details and such i know ever since you started the project. Seems like this is one pony project that'll reach the finish line.
I remember seeing this a while back (I think it was around December) in the random pony-related art thread here on the forums. It looks amazing so far, I can't wait to see what the final game will be like. Really excited for this, keep up the good work!
I've been wanting one of these so bad. I love old school CRPG's like the ones made on RPG maker. I download these kinds of game fairly regularly. I can't wait to play yours
Looks awesome! If I had any critique, I'd say that Derpy's text sounds too intelligent. I can't wait for this to be finished. I love these styles of RPG's. =) Approximately how do you suspect it'll take to finish?
I'm not looking to portray Derpy as mentally hadicapped. She's just like everyone else only she's wall-eyed and slightly clumsy. And I -want- to have it done by the time season 3 premieres, but life happens so I can never really say for sure. Someone who read my blog that wanted to contribute something to the fandom and felt that a logo for my project would be a great way to start. And yes, it's 320x240. 2k3 can't go beyond that, but the following version (Rpg Maker XP) can do 640x480.

I'm surprised you're using RM2k3, instead of VX, (my personal favorite.) Then again, I guess there are benefits to each one. Good luck! I can't wait to see the final product.

I come and go. I'm far more active on my dA page than I am here these days. Not a fan of VX' restrictions. Plus with 2k3 I have like 7+ years of experience. I'm about to design the last few screens within the second dungeon. After that, I'll be moving on to designing enemies and the events for the area, then it's on to the next dungeon. And don't let the fact that I said that I'm only working on the second dungeon scare anyone, I'm halfway done with the main story now. The game is designed to be rather small and short, but will be padded with level grinding and optional stuff to extend play time.
