To be perfectly honest, I think different labels for different gendered fans is not the best idea. It kinda splits us as a whole in my opinion. We should all be friends regardless of our gender or sex. It's almost like, "I get it, you're a dude/chick." Thoughts?
Though this discussion has long since passed, the term "brony" is gender neutral. Most girls don't even like pegasister.
I don't see why different names for fans should be issue between people. if some girl doesn't like to be called pegasis, then I call her brony (or more often by her name if I know her (same goes for male bronies)), if she likes pegasis, then I call her that way ( I know few girls that prefer pegasis). So I really don't see where the problem is. Use whatever word you like more.
The term is gender neutral but some girls like Pegasister and some guys like to keep guys and girls separate (for some reason) the one female brony I know hates pegasister.
Don't see why. You'd think since its my little pony, it wouldn't matter. There's not many ways to make it manly. Plus the whole concept is rather lame. But that's a whole different ballpark there.
I remember a discussion about this about a month ago: >http://www.everypony.com/forums/showthread.php?3218-Pegasister-Bronette-or-Femares But I agree that "brony" is a gender-neutral term and I, personally, refer to both male and female fans as bronies. As I'm sure we already know, "brony" was just a portmanteau of "bro" and "pony" to symbolize the large male following. The only time I'll refer to a female fan as a "pegasis," "pegasister" or whatever other variation, is if they choose to be referred to as such.
Yeah, this has been talked about a lot and the general consesus is we are all the same. Pegasister is so 2011. I actually would like to see the term Brony changed into something more gender neutral though that we all use. I don't know why it is that pegasister seems so unappealing to me, as does Hoeny for obvious reasons. I'd like to see us as a community come up with a new term though that includes all fans regardless of age and gender, one that could even apply to 6 year old fans.
Wait, if we can pick what to call ourselves. can I as a be a pegasister? Pixel hope the first male pegasister. I like the sound of that. -- Sent from my Palm Pre using Forums
Considering the show's overall message of bringing people together, and especially the gender-defying nature of the whole thing, it's strange that some people insist on dividing along those lines. We're all fans of the show. Period. Unless a girl specifically says she's rather go by "pegasister", I'd just as soon say we're all bronies. A house divided, you know?
But I wanna be a pegasister. If girls can be bronies, I can be a pegasister. -- Sent from my Palm Pre using Forums
Oh yeah, pixel, dog and xan. The male pegasister crusade starts now. We must build our ranks. -- Sent from my Palm Pre using Forums
