He made me believe linux was better. Which it is cool and everything, but I can't do anything with it. It's almost impossible to update my ipod with new songs. I just don't like it.

So, I'm buying a new one with the bonus check I got from work.

Yes, I got that, by why not install Windows 7 over Linux? I'm pretty sure you can change OSs. I don't think a whole new computer is necessary.

    Sorry, my bad, dumb american.

I have no idea how to install an OS. Mike did all that for me. So, I'd just break something. I can't ask him for help either. He moved to new york.

Ask the right people and you shall receive. (inb4 sex joke)
You can easily get the data from a torrent, then use a program to put it on a flash drive, It formats the flash drive so that, on startup of the computer, you press a certain button when the Motherboard screen comes on, somewhere it will say F6 - 'Choose Boot Device' or something. Normally, its the Hard drive, but you can ask to run from the flash drive, you do this to install Windows 7 on your Hard Drive and then reformat the flash drive to go back to how you normally use it.
If you need extra help and are interested in me helping you, perhaps keep it to PMs.

Installing an OS really isn't that hard, I installed Windows myself and I woke that day not having a clue as to how to do it. Go search google for a couple of guides, take this as an opportunity to learn something new, just back up your data and you'll have no problem.

/sniped x 2, I really need to type faster :derpe:

I have a windows7 OS, but no joke, I'm not trying to be funny. I'm far to dumb to figure something like this out.

I'll just buy one. It's not that big of a deal. As long as it can use SAI, play IL-2 and silent hunter, I'll be happy.

EDIT: you guys are fast. I'll look into but still, I'm dumb.

Ubuntu was a nightmare. My brother had it on his computer to try an learn Linux with (my uncle being an HP-UX specialist encouraging him), but no one knows anything about Ubuntu. I tried my hardest to make it viable for gaming, but 2 FPS in WoW raids using Wine was pitiful over the 45+ on Windows, with much research poured into commands and settings.

Anyway, buying a PC is just as bad because they will put a bunch of extra BS on your PC that you don't need (which fresh installs tend to do anyway, but pre-built PCs usually don't inform you of this).

Thanks xan. The only way I'd be able to talk during the process would be PM.

Windows 7 Professional (32bit) and an Ubuntu partition installed using that Wubi thing in case I feel like a change of graphics and layout. Although, I still tend to use Gnome over Unity as my computer seems able to use it more efficiently.

I have dual boot of Windows 7 ultimate 64bit and Ubuntu 11.10 64bit.

I'm very happy with my ubuntu, and I don't even use windows anymore for some more serious programing, everything works on ubuntu, and I've set up wine to run games and programs for windows (except steam). Also, I use Unity GUI on ubuntu with Wallch wallpaper software (so I have (mostly pony) rolling wallpapers that change every minute).
Also, my terminal is customized with picture of Scootaloo and Applebloom ::S:

Wow, this is probably my most successful thread yet.

On topic, I'm starting to like Linux Mint. I'd recommend it to anyone who is getting a bit tired of Windows. If I do get a new laptop, I'll probably keep Windows on it but Mint is very good. If you have lots of Windows-based applications then I wouldn't use it though.
