Security and office response time first and foremost. After that, go for bullying and gang activity. Then correct the substitute teacher problem, then the fights, and finally the dirty bathrooms. Reason for this is simply that if you don't feel safe in a place you need to go to for forty hours a week, then there's no point in going.
Thanks, this is all very insightful. Showing them ponies, that'll be fun to explain to the assistant principal. However, although I do have a very high impact on the rules, I can't simply rewrite everything. Laws, morals, etc inhibit such. However, it is now more apparent what needs to be done. Response time. The day I got into the trouble mentioned (which was a load of BS anyway), I missed two full periods waiting for a session. I waited TWO HOURS to simply explain it was a HARMLESS JOKE that got me there. The school definitely needs more efficiency. Punishments need to be direct results, and need to make sense. Last time I was "disciplined", I got two full days off for suspension. So what did I do? I had a party, of course. Not much of a punishment, is it? And for the love of Celestia, STOP HIRING PSYCO SUBSTITUTES. But of course, while I can recommend these changes, more of what I will be doing is dealing with immediate problems. Not problems like, "what is beauty", because- alright I'll stop. More of problems like more effective punishments and length of said punishments. Side effects of choosing punishments for other students include: -death -strong hatred -harassment -lulz And don't get the wrong impression. I am thrilled to finally change the school, not simply drag my bloody body through it.
After reading everypony's posts, I could't think of a better idea. Usually the staff (using my school as an example) has enough power to stop and degenerate any kind of threats in the school, by many means as possible. Contacting parents, suspension, expulsion, having a serious conversation (instead, a serious jail-time in work better here as already mentioned). But that is just brilliant! Although it will only work if they do not sleep while it is playing. So maybe the volume should be really right or something like that. Either they will, as expected, hate it and shun it completely and AVOID it, or they will like it and actually adopt Love and Tolerance. Or they may just ignore. Or a mix of the three above. Either way, it would be pretty interesting. I'd say you actually suggest that and see what your principal or whatever thinks of it. Also, to avoid your bloody corpse to be dragged in the school corridors, I suggest the staff keep your envolvement anonymous. So that there are not any consequences to you. Cause even if everything works out as planned and everyone congratulates you on your job well done, some guy or another may plan something very nasty as vengeance... Better not risk it.
Well, there is one way.
It's too far gone. And since the apparently mentally retarded principal wants YOU to decide punishments for raving psychotic idiots that would KILL you if they wanted to,It sounds too dangerous. Especially the gangs. You should get out of there. It's not safe. Tell your Mom/Dad that your school is a festering pit of juvenile delinquents and moronic staff.I'm half sure they'll at least get you a transfer. Reminds me of my school but it was just full of idiots.(Kids, staff ,ETC)
^However, me being the power-hungry tyrant that I am, I cannot simply REJECT this. Besides, I thought I told y'all I don't fear death.
It's still to dangerous. My good side wants you to get out of there. My bad side wants you to make the staff do stupid things.*Snicker*Power abuse. My Prankster side agrees with the bad side. My Insane side is rambling about miniature peanut men. My Science and logic agrees with my good side. My Psychopathic killer side wants to strangle the school staff. Im going with my good side and science side.SCIENCE SIDE IS NEVER WRONG!!!
In your case I would be delighted in the level of control I was given, and basicly go mad with power. I was working closely with the faculty during my school years, being the student council representative of the special classes, but I was never able to exert that level of control. But, yeah, that school sounds to be beyond saving.
What i would do in your place. Start a dictatorship type set up with me as the leader. ' Seriously,Darkmoon is right. That hellhole of a school is beyond saving.
No sense in hoping, eh? I know the feel. But there is always just a chance of either failing or succeeding. Besides, if I fail, at least I get to laugh at the school's downfall. *WARNING: YOUR HOPE LEVEL IS EXCEEDING POSSIBLE QUANTITY* Yes, this is a record for hope. In fact, I have been completely hopeless for a while now. Hell, if I actually solve the school's problems, it'll look good on a college application- or even better, a biography. And now, a fun fact. Roughly 60% of the major gang's members think I'm a total badass.
Abuse that power...TAKE OVER THE SCHOOL!!!*punch*Shut up bad side.Interesting..if you do exert control..you should be safe from them.
Fun fact: the 60% of the gang are the lower members No thread is complete without Sparky beating up his bad side.
A lot of schools in America are now simply banning gang identifiers, and arresting students who are caught in or are suspected of engaging in gang activity of any kind. I say America because I am American, and from what I can tell, a lot of you are in the UK somewhere. Don't know how things are done over there, but it seems to be working over here, at least partially. If you end the gangs and promote positive performance, perhaps the populace will provide a proper platform from which progressive programs can be performed. I love alliteration. Does that help?
What about an update to the equipment at the Staff's disposal? If they're using a paper filing system, get a database system and chuck the filthy paper stuff out the window. Then go and pick it all up again, add the information to the system and chuck it back out again. That's usually the first thing in getting people off their behinds and out helping the students. Another thing I can remember from my school was CCTV. I dunno if that's unusual or not but they had it on day (I'm assuming here) and night. It meant that they had ocular proof when kids are attacking or giving other people a bogwash or whatever...Yes, it's a bit 'Big Brother' and probably quite expensive. On the other hand, a small white box with a soulless black eye connected to a teacher hit squad might deter students. Either that or delegate them to the blind spots. At least it herds them in somewhat. It'll need someone with a mug of tea and a hand over a big button labelled 'Get Them!' too. The cleaning up of the toilets idea could be useful too. How about being sent round with a plastic bag, cleaning up the school's sports field or your outside area? Sounds odd but that was another thing they got us to do. It's just getting them to do the job really... Any of this helping?
Well, I'll need to try some of this. Down here in SoCal, Airstream. Wish I was in Ireland, though. We do make them clean up the campus, and for a while that worked, but now all detention is is a twenty minute long session of sitting. That would be bad if it were, say, two hours long. Even in cases of lunch detention, student's don't even miss lunch. Sigh... I just need to find a better school. But I can't just leave the jazz band, they're awesome. I'll try some of this, so long as it's legal.
