because me and my mom got into a fight which during we both cried and made up but im still down about it
The community mods are here to help you guys if you want/need advice. They'll help you to the best of their ability. Ask for their Skype names, I'm sure they'll gladly accept.
While I am one who the many mental problems, I'd like offer my help when I can in thise as well. I've been in deepest parts of depression many times, so I can feel true empathy towards those who ask for help.
Same here really. It doesn't have to be the mods, you can ask anyone for help. But they're the most obvious choice per se.
I agree, we need a depression management thread- whether it be for serious problems or simple problems. I understand how fighting with a parent can be. My mother and I have been arguing a lot, off and on for the past couple of years. It's been pretty bad this year though. We're both dealing with chronic depression and other health problems not to mention financial issues, which altogether makes for a very volatile situation. I've also been getting a hard time from some of people my mom and I know; they keep dissing on me because I still live with my mother (I'm 23yrs). My mother and I both decided that given neither of us likes to live alone, I'm going to college nearby and we both get along pretty well- neither of us sees a reason for me to move out. Course her friends don't think it's right that someone my age should live at home and they've been giving my mom and I a hard time about it, especially since we've been fighting.
Because we all know everypony.com is populated entirely by professional mental health experts. I think you could get away with a "personal life discussion" forum or something, which would be nice to clear out stuff from the general chat, but having an actual counselling/therapy thread would be bad and might even be a legal problem for everypony.com
I agree with this, it's just semantics anyway, but it would avoid unnecessary issues that could arise. The forum would be used for the same purpose, which I agree would be a welcome addition, but without any implied 'professional' status.
I don't think a depression "thread" would work, more of a depression "sub-forum" as everyone's problems will have different solutions. Also, I wouldn't call it the "depression" sub-forum, maybe a "counselling" or "serious discussion" sub-forum. Anyway, DJ Cal, I find that looking at random stuff online always help. You've made up with her so you just need to take your mind off it, whether it's ponies or a video game, just try to forget about it.
I like the idea of a Serious Discussion sub-forum. That opens up the floor for personal problems and other topics looking for... well... serious discussion. I've noticed that sometimes interesting threads will pop up here, but everyone gives such jokey one-liner replies that mods shut it down before anyone has a chance to really turn it into an actual discussion.
I'll talk to Grey and the staff about this, but I wouldn't keep your hopes up. I might make a serious discussion thread and sticky it, but a whole subforum... we'll need to see. However, I must close this thread as it breaks our 'depression thread' rule. The topic was derailed anyway so I think this has can be closed. ~Closed~
