If I'm dieting, I count my fat intake. I don't take more than 30 grams of fat a day.

If I exercise, I get myself in a morning routine. Right now, I'm doing sit-ups every morning. 2 sets of 10 reps.

I don't have a target weight or size. I have a target feeling. When I feel fit, I feel like nothing can hurt me. Little benchmarks along the way are good, but ultimately if I'm feeling good, I'm happy. Diet and exercise help.

From personal experience, I will tell you that if you can't do something, the best way to overcome that is to keep trying to do it. That's how I learned to do pull-ups.

Cloudy if you have bad knees I could suggest something for you actually.

During Indoor track I developed severe ankle and knee problems. Every time I ran it felt like my ankle had snapped in two and my knees felt as if they were on the verge of popping out of place. I talked to a few people on the team and one of them suggested that I change the way I run from its foundation. See, since we all usually wear sneakers we're accustomed to having our feet land heel first. The problem with this is that the hell was never designed for this; it has low surface area and doesn't absorb impact well and as a result the shock rushes up your legs and affects your legs and in many cases the back. What my friend suggested was that instead I allow my feet to hit the ground on my forefoot (right before the toes but right after the arch). As it turns out this is how the foot was supposed to be hitting the ground; it utilizes the arch as a spring and shock absorber, and it has a higher surface area allowing the forces against your feet to be sent up evenly. As a result of all this the wear and tear on your legs is significantly reduced.

There's just a bit of a problem with this: it's hard to transition to this style of moving around and until then it becomes awkward to both walk and run. Hell, it took me a month to transition fully, but now I don't have any of my legs problems anymore and my back feels great (I used to have minor back pains too)

If you want to go for this it helps to walk around your house like this before diving in, and it may help to invest in a pair of minimalist running shoes. Some good brands include Vibram, Newton, and the New Balance Minimus. I personally wear Vibram Five Fingers and they're too much fun to run and walk in. They make me feel like a ninja. :3

I've lost somewhere around 40-50 pounds since I became a cart pusher at Wal-Mart about 7 or 8 months ago. Possibly more. I haven't really changed my eating habits so much. I eat the same crap, but I just don't have as much time to spend eating, and my ~32 hours per week at work are spent constantly walking in the heat/cold (depending on the time of year, obviously) and pulling/pushing heavy lines of carts.

I'm still quite overweight. I weighed in at 338 lbs when I went to the doctor a few months ago, but I know I've lost more weight since then. It's mostly centered on my torso now. My arms are rather lean, if a bit muscular, and my legs are freaking huge hunks of muscle thanks to living obese for so many years and all this constant walking.

Given more time, I should lose more weight, but I don't know if my gut will ever really go away.

Certainly possible I suppose. My legs and arms were fatter before I started my job, though.

I know this is a bit late but- great job. I understand what you mean by needing to lose alot and it can get difficult to break routine. It's nice to meet another overweight girl with good self esteem. :D

I've lost about 40lbs so far. It probably helped my computer wasn't working for awhile so I was walking out of boredom. Oh internet, how I love thee.

Congrats on your weight loss. In April, I was 415 and now I am 332. I recommend exercising often (walking or if it's too cold walk inside and if you have a few extra bucks, join a decent gym, a lot of them offer programs for just 10 to 15 dollars a month. And if you are stuck at home, do some jumping jacks, run in place, do push-ups, or if you have stairs, walk up and down two levels repeatedly for about 10 minutes) and eating a good amount of vegetables, eat some lean meat for protein (in moderation though, and I recommend staying away from red meat). Only consume sweets once a week and limit that as well. Try to stay away from soda. Get 7-9 hours of sleep daily, and be proud if you just lose a couple of pounds at a time. It will come off eventually.

Good luck to anyone trying to lose that fat, I am still a big brony and I know how disappointing it is to be out of shape or overweight. Never give up and find positive things about you, a lot of issues of obesity comes from stress and/or the lack of self-worth (I know this subject wholeheartedly). I hope we all can achieve our goals. :D
