Funny thought- as they walked into the crumbling ruins, they heard a powerful voice coming from princess Luna. "I'm sorry, Twilight, but your princess is in another castle."
I've actually had that idea for a fanfic that's been stirring around in my head. A certain psychotic pony re-emerges(now with dark magic for reasons to be explained if I make it)and poisons the princesses(not enough to kill them but enough to put them into a very very deep coma)so she can take over Equestria, and she decides that Canterlot Castle won't serve her purposes, so she uses her powers to reconstruct the castle in Everfree in ten seconds flat. That's where she rules with an iron hoof from.
I really like the subtle back story in all the episodes (by subtle I mean unexplored as of now). I think seeing some flashbacks from Celestia's childhood would be really interesting in season 2, as maybe it would expand the mystery further as to how hold Celestia and Luna are, and what kingdom was before Equestria. I would certainly love to see what that castle used to be. Who knows, maybe it wasn't a castle. It could have been a cloning facility in an ancient steampunk society, but let's not go there.
Well, I'm watching the season for the second and third time (Yes, that's right - second and third time), and I thought I'd comment on each episode I've seen two or three times. And, rather than posting separately for Episodes 1 & 2, I thought I'd just go to E2, since E1 hasn't been commented on for, um, three months. So, my thoughts on the opener. I was thinking that Nightmare Moon was going to be a recurring villain - some one that would attempt to, I dunno, take away the friendship each episode. So I was quite surprised to see her defeated with E2! I hadn't really formed any opinions of the various characters with the first episode, although one thing that kind of bugged me was Applejack's telling Twilight to just let go. Why freak her out that way? Why not say, "Don' worry sugar cube - Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy will catch you!" I'm not sure I would really classify that as "honesty," any ways. Eh, well, minor point, I suppose. I'm kind of hoping that castle will get used again in Season 2 - maybe some resident evil, er, I mean, *residue* evil is left over, and they have to go fight it. Oh, and thanks Testyal1 - I'm going to think that now every time I re-watch it.
Other than Pinky Pie's song, I enjoy watching this episode quite frequently. On a side note, "Pony Pokey" is Pinky's #1 song, mostly because of the clips shown with each character. *thinks of Fluttershy*
This is my favourite episode of the series! Probably because the entire episode fits together so perfectly. Everything in this episode has a reason behind it, a purpose, all of which comes together in the end to help defeat evil. It is borderline perfection.
Nah, the two castles (I've assumed one for Luna and one for Celestia) are the ancient castles/castle (Originally one?) of the royal pony sisters! Stated in one of Twilight's many books!
Well this was the best episode I've seen IMO. I liked the whole Nightmare moon thing and everything just seemed to work well.
