Dont really know. I guess a Popularity List for Rp's Example: Rp's with over 2000 views, here and so on
Good idea so far, but maybe I'd sort them by posts rather than clicks, and maybe categorize them with "short posts" and "long posts".
I was thinking of a roleplay where several humans are found near Ponyville with dubious intentions, and the players (roleplaying as ponies) would have to figure out what to do with them from there. The original poster would roleplay for the humans, or maybe players could. Whatever, it's just an idea.
This thread is for ideas for the RP section as a whole, but nice idea any way, keep developing it and see how it goes.
I'm thinking maybe a general RP discussion thread. Like say you wanted to compare OC's or RP's or just chat about the RP.
I, as a new member, (and a really long-term role-player,) agree with the suggestions. I come from many more active Role-Playing communities. I think FurryPile probably does it best in its sectioned manners. Basically, the best means I've personally found are: Role-Playing as the parent, where public role-plays with multiple people and open invites go on. Private Role-Plays as a child section, where "invite only" role-plays would go on, or those that require an application/approval process. The Character Database as a child section, where people can post up all their personal character sheets from different role-plays, and edit them without worry of losing them. The Out of Character Area as a child section, which is mostly for OOC discussion about the RPs. Then... Brainstorming, another child area where sign-ups and ideas get to go back and forth. Nice and organized that way, and makes it a lot more appealing for the veteran RP'rs.
Oh yes, you can make seperate threads for each item, sure. Having them under the same sub-forum index however makes it a little jumbled and confusing. As I said, the seperation of catagories just makes it much more appealing to role-players. Especially those who are in it for life. I personally don't keep much interest in forums beyond role-play, personally. Though as Quill might confirm, it's just who I am. I'm a very long term GM, too. If the catagorization happens, I could host a table-top RP on the forum, here.
Might I suggest a new rule? No Alicorns in RP unless specified otherwise. It can fall under a subsection regarding the OP rule because of an Alicorn's powerful nature. The reason I post this is because I've seen it declined more often than accepted and I don't want to have people get angry over something menial.
+1 Even now that Celestia and Luna aren't the only alicorns, I also think that the "normal" Earthpony/Pegasus/Unicorn choice is enough. And even if there are more than three alicorns (no, I didn't count that one from "Lesson Zero"), I still think they are extremely rare.
Ah yeah... The whole alicorn debate. Honestly, I agree with you on that, BUT, there's always ponies out there that want an alicorn OC. It wouldn't be fair to not allow alicorns and there's also much more in depth problems with it as well. Like making Pegasus being able to fly at the speed of light, making unicorns that can destroy worlds, and... Well there's no real way to OP an Earth. XDD I guess they can lift mountains? I suppose you could even make it to where they'd make some sort of super deadly weapon. Not sure. ANYWHO! The whole alicorn debate is very questionable on the grounds of unfairness to the owner of said alicorn. Although, in nature, alicorns do tend to go OP eventually. It's like the more they're RPed, the more OP they become. Not to mention the backstories are like, always very similar. I would suggest a non-alicorn section, and a section where alicorns can be. That way you get both sides happy. One is completely open and you can BS your entire way in it, and the other has a set of limitations to make sure nopony goes all "I'M OP!!! RAWRBAHGABERJAPPLEGLARG!!!".
Completly and totally agree with you on that one. Oh, and I think that there needs to be a way to get rid of the older, dead rp's as they just take up room, it could be either user done, or community done, it doesn't really matter. I just think it would help.
Well generally I assume one who would keep an Alicorn out of their RP would also enforce the OP rule so that Earth Ponies wouldn't be able to move mountains, Unicorns wouldn't destroy worlds, and Pegasai wouldn't be able to fly at the speed of light. As I've seen mostly on the forums, people have begun using stat systems or similar trends as a way to limit the power of characters and with an Alicorn thrown into the mix against the GMs will, then it throws a wrench into the gears of their RP. Let's not be one to judge when an RP should be cast away. Somebody might simply be on break or away for other reasons. Hell, some of us (myself included) like to scroll through our past RPs and improve upon our abilities to avoid future mishaps. Think of it as an RP archive. It serves many purposes.
I don't think it really should be the site's place to regulate the RP the ponies play. As long as there's nothing of mature nature, it really should be up to the in-RP players to decide.
