(Got to go. Getting very late over here...)

Teddy looks towards Cal, thumbing through anything that he could quiz him on in his testimony. Well, he could ask for a little bit of his native language to be spoken but what would be the point when he couldn't check if it was correct. In fact, he knew nothing about Stalliongrad or anything about the country it was in. Sadly, Cal was a lost cause.

But Shield? Ah! Now we could do some grilling there!

"OK..." Teddy said, putting on a serious game face. "If you've had such a good education, then maybe you wouldn't mind a little quiz?"

    Ah! This'll get him.

"Here's an easy one: how would I calculate the speed of an object travelling at a constant rate between two points?" Now, if he could pluck the formula out of the air, then we could be sure he had gone through school at least...

As for Aima...It's hard to question having your eye poked out for it's accuracy when she's wearing the evidence in her face right at this moment...

Aimed stepped in front of Rexl defensively.

"Ah, and you're getting awfully offensive on such a menial detail aren't you? Here I thought the knowledge of Manechester was common knowledge but it appears something so simple seems to have slipped your senses (So much alliteration.)."

She began to walk up towards Rex and push him up against the wall.

"Do keep in mind my dear that placing baseless accusations will only set the spotlight on yourself, so if you wish merit personal attention then let us hope you've prepared to take the consequences in stride."

Her nostrils and pupil began to flare once her blood began pumping faster as the rage slowly began enveloping her body, but she stopped and spun from Rex. She walked into th center of the room and took in a few deep breaths.

"This isn't the proper circumstance to make petty claims such as that Rex."

Aima sat in the center of the room and stared at the dirty ground for a moment. She brought a hoof to her head and shook it for a moment before lifting her head and facing Rex once more.

"My apologies for snapping, as I've said I used to have anger issues, but it become more apparent at times. I guess given our current predicament it appears more frequently. Now Cal raises an excellent point, you haven't shared your story with us and what you've parted with just recently won't suffice and honestly it's too simple. Do you have anything more substantial you'd care to bring to our attention?"

*smiles* oh it's okay I can't blame ya. My story is pretty short. I loved to explore and so when I was a colt I just kinda wanderd away from my family and pretty much been living on my own ever since. I have met all kinds of ponies but never got close to anyway as I always have a need to adventure. I of course haven't been everywhere, and so im sorry to assume Manechester was made up just because I haven't heard of it. That's all the important stuff I hope you can trust me now.

Shield looked rather insulted, which was a deviation from his usual facial mask. "Well, you are right about one thing; that is quite a simple calculation. The formula for speed is the distance travelled divided by the time it took to travel, so you could easily find the exact speed by timing how long it took the object in question to travel from poing A to point B, assuming you know the distance between the points.

"Now, let's say you don't know the length of segment AB, as I shall call it. We will call the length of this segment "x". Now, you can calculate the speed of the object in more general terms, such as "x/5 feet per second" if the object takes 5 seconds to travel "x" feet. This would not be useful except in a theoretical sense, of course..."

"That's right. You didn't sleep through school."

Teddy screws his face up again as though trying to contain an explosion in his head with his face alone. He needed a really hard one. A really weird and odd little question that he might be able to do if he kept up with such ideas. But it needed to be really, really hard. Maybe something from his field maybe? Something unusual and hard to guess, pulled from the chalkboards in the lab. Something that he and his team had been pouring themselves over for weeks to make sure of every possible angle of disaster as avoided. He relaxes his face into an aloof stare.

"All right. How about this? Say I get given a ball from a future version of myself that has travelled back in time by an hour. I then wait around and travel back in time an hour again to give my past self that same ball, who then continues the loop until we get the same ball travelling around in 4-dimensional circles." Here's the bit where he'll out fox Shield. A slightly smug grin appears.

"Where did the ball come from in the first place?" He sits back and crosses his forelegs, confident in victory.

Shield blinked; this seemed to be his standard response to being addressed. "Ah, yes. I've read a bit about this, though it was all theoretical." He paused for a few seconds, considering the situation that had been presented.

"Anyways, in answer to your question, the ball did not come from anywhere. You recieved it from your future self, who recieved it from his future self, et cetera, et cetera. It has no beginning or end, which is technically impossible, but that's why it's just a theory..."

He looked at Teddy. "I apologize if this is not the answer you were looking for; if the purpose of this inquiry was to determine my schooling, I must admit that my education did not cover this. What little I do know about time travel and its consequences was aquired by reading a few books that didn't really discuss it at length, paired with my own thoughts on the subject."

"Sounds good to me thats 2 questions now that wasn't even a good one so now you hold it Teddy I think you made your point with the first question this has gone on long enough. You leave shieldy alone." *sits between teddy and shield* "now appologize for being so suspecious. I mean you really are being rediculous the spy would have a back story like all of us there would be nothing to hide. There are better questions then this whole back story thing.

Teddy leaned back as Rex rushed between him and Shield. He clearly got more cagey as the pegasus insisted that Teddy apologised.

"I was only asking him a couple of questions! We're meant to be suspicious! Anyway, he didn't get it quite right." Teddy leans to the side, resting on one hoof so that he could talk around Rex, to Shield.

"My team thinks that actually, the ball comes from an alternative universe where I consciously decided to create the loop and was caught in a repetitive causality the instant I travelled back in time to give myself the ball on the first rotation of the loop...." He then sheepishly retracts back, looking despondent.

"This also isn't getting us anywhere...." Teddy sighed, his head drooping.

Maybe he's seen this problem somewhere before? Maybe? He's seen lots of thought experiments in his time. Usually against his wishes but he's seen them. Maybe there's something useful he's not quite picking up yet....

"Has anyone ever had to do this sort of thing before? Y'know, interrogate anyone?"

"Shieldy" was surprised that somepony was coming to his defense. He hadn't seen much point to the questions, either, but he had supposed he might as well go along with them, because it was that or refuse to answer them. Not that he disagreed with his points, but Shield had to wonder why this pegasus had felt the need to defend him. Hmm.

He listened to Teddy while he contributed his ideas on the temporal paradox, and nodded. "That does seem like a reasonable explaination. However, I never really put much stock into alternate realities. While time is something that we can prove exists - or at least we can all agree that it exists - alternate realities are pure hypotheses.

"Anyhow, on a more relevant note, it would be best to think of a way to find this "spy" rather than discuss metaphysics. I don't suppose anypony here has a degree in criminal psycology?"

"Criminal psy-what now? I sure don't have any skill in that" *chuckles* "It makes me think though, are we even sure there is a spy I mean all we have is the word of a crazy pony who locked us all in here. Maybe it was a lie, what if there is no spy we are just suppose to fight and get paranoid. Of course it's only a guess mr. crazy pony don't have any reason to lie about that. So for now I'm not gonna be suspicous of anypony until we have some hard evidence. Guess work only goes so far we need some hard objective facts"

I have to agree with Rex we have to have some kind of evidence before we start to accuse or interrogate anypony in here but going to be hard to get evidence if there is any seeing how we're in this cell

Aima stepped swiftly between the group of ponies.

"Morally, evidence would be the optimal catalyst in finding the solution to our dilemma, but we must look at this rationally instead of hopefully. We've been locked in a room with a saboteur who may or may not have specialized training in the arts of deception. Even then, we must keep in mind the petty presumption that there is in fact nobody present who opposes us in this very room and it's all a game of observation to our host."

She brought a hoof to her chin quizzically before she continued to pace around the room in a circle. Aima remained quiet for a moment.

"If we do find ourselves in the circumstance of us lacking a saboteur, then the game is designed to see who we might think the traitor among us is, and even then if we happen to find one there will be a lack of substantial evidence to proof our hypothesis. We've been given the gratuity of three chances at luck and inquiry, yet we still don't know what a strike against us even holds." she said quietly to the group as she began to pace.

"I guess what I'm trying to say here is, nobody will leave this room entirely pure. There will be strong suspicions, and some of us are going to likely suffer for it, but on the opposite side of the spectrum there will be nothing but suspicion to work off of seeing as how we all came into this anonymous for the most part. Our adversary has given us three chances to pluck the saboteur among our ranks, and there are 9 of us. That means that we have a 1/3 shot at freedom without even having to play this guessing game but what it also means is that we're free to make mistakes."

She walked to one of the walls in the room and picked up a small rock with her magic. She spun it around in the air and observed the bumps and jagged edges as she began to formulate her next sentence carefully.

"I'd be willing to sacrifice my eye to prove my innocence if you all doubt my honesty here, which would also allow us to see what this mysterious "pain" is to be inflicted without any of us being subject to it, but as a consequence we'd also lower our odds of locating the traitor among us. Seeing as how we're a group here, I'll allow you all to decide."

"Wait! Your going to just offer yourself up? Just like that?" Teddy inquires, shooting Aima a disbelieving look. "Don't you think that the crazy voice would have thought of a way around the lack of one eye? And anyway, you've only got one robo-eye, the other is normal. The machine should still be able to read the retina of that eye and cause that 'pain' that was discussed. For all we know, it could be a ten-inch spike coming from the eye-piece. We should probably wait to figure this out."

Teddy's eyes slip up to the top corner of his sight as he retires into thought.

Two guards stand in front of two doors. One door leads to heaven and one door leads to hell. One guard will always tell the truth while the other guard will always lie. You may only ask one question to determine which door leads where. You may only have one choice of door.

Sure, its an old riddle but he never thought that it might have actually come in useful. Now, all he had to do was remember how you solved it and apply the same principles here, right? Probably...maybe...

(Got to get going. Getting late again.)

"Well," responded Shield, "I, too, am curious to see what this mysterious punishment is, but if we are to assume you are innocent, it would, as you said, decrease our chances of escaping. I agree that there is nothing but suspicion to go on, as the only evidence would be an admission (accidental or not) from the spy themselves. It seems unlikely that we will recieve this, and so it is left to guesswork. I am not happy to say this, but aside from forcefully freeing ourselves, it seems to be our only option.

"As for who will go, there is really no way to fairly determine the victim. Nopony will want to go; the spy because they do not wish to be discovered, and the rest because it will both cause pain and decrease their chances of ever escaping. To be perfectly, utterly honest, I believe that our fate is left to chance."

He stopped, and silence ran rampant in the moments that followed his uncharacteristically long speech.

"well anyway I guess there is nothing to go on, no evidence at all so either we guess or we get the spy to say something incriminating.... thats all the options we got at this point."
