Oh, are we posting awesome video game music now?
Haha same with me :derpe: Has anyone ever heard of or played The Neverhood, easily one of my favourite games, so many lols.
I got the demo from a 'So Fresh' CD, I dunno where the CD came from though, then i got the full game. Anyway this gives a good idea of the game to anyone who doesn't know of it. EDIT: I remember Gex! We probably had the same CD. EDIT EDIT: Old games seem to have so much more character than games these days...
Games still have plenty of character. You just have to know where to look. As games become more popular and casual, the more the gaming industry resembles things like the television industry. This leads to the most widely known things being bland and unambitious, and the artistic things happen more in the background. So while Activision is busy pumping out 2 games a year for each of the poor series it owns rights to, other companies do it right an work long and hard to make a truly good game. Incidentally, I can't wait for The Last Guardian and Ni No Kuni!
Meh...I dont really bother with most new games...half of them i sell after i finish them... I am so bored.
I disagree gamers have never had it better they look better, they sound better they play smoother. Games are at the pinacle of what they are doing now. I find it dismaying in a way to say games are loosing character. You could say it may not be better then before but it's impossible to say we have it worse. Sure you can think of some good classics, but for every "gem" you can think of I can go to google and give you ten that sucked. To say that good games are in the background like its a recent thing is wrong thats the way games have always been.
Well not all old games were good.... There was...E.T!!!*Dramatic music*They buried millions of copies in the desert under concrete. It was that bad.
acttually thats a myth all that was buried was broken catrages and such. Thats exactly what im saying to compare games now to games then and say things are getting worse is wrong games sucked back then too.
The difference is that in the past you could name 1 good game for every 10 bad ones. Now I could name one good game for every 100 bad ones. Originality is shunned by businesses because it takes risks and earns less money than an already existing dead horse idea. I can't tell you how sick I get of every company churning out these shooter clones because it's proven to sell.
A list of the worst games ever. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_video_games_notable_for_negative_reception
^^; you make a good point. although it depends on how far we are going back in the begining of the video game industry it was much worse. I think a few years ago we hit the peak of video game ideas its all downhill now.
Fun fact: In 2010, the top ten movies were not original ideas- they were adaptations or sequels. So yes, originality is dead. Would anyone care to revive it? No? Didn't think so.
