I've wanted to start making pony videos again and was wondering if anyone knew any good, but basic, video editing software? I used to use Windows Movie Maker, but it doesn't support .mkv files and all of my episodes are in that format. I tried converting them, but the quality decreases way too much. I looked into Sony Vegas, but it was like looking at hieroglyphics to me. I just need something where you can cut, balance sounds, have effects, and transitions. Any help is appreciated.
I always love having Adobe Premiere. Combined with Adobe After Effects, I have created very decent videos, I found it very simple to find out how to do things, yet also powerful and feature-heavy
Using Handbrakeconverts mkv videos to mp4 in high quality. You can even select how high the quality you want.
Sony Vegas. I have Adobe Premiere Pro CS4, but the CS4 media encoder is the epitome of useless and buggy. While I can work with Premiere Pro, it doesn't handle FRAPs files well. On top of this, After Effects doesn't work for me. I'd blame my PC, but there's no way. Ever since switching to Vegas, making quick videos is easy. While you won't be able to pull off crazy, technical stuff of After Effects, it'll more than get the job done and is quite capable. There's another program I tried out called Camtasia, but it really didn't suit my needs.
