Hm, yes, working in retail, weekends have rather the opposite effect on us as it does most people.

Well, luckily for me, I don't really have to deal with customers too often.

I'm a cart pusher. I'm the one that's out on the parking lot gathering all the shopping carts and bringing them in for customers to use. They finish and leave their carts on the lot, rinse, repeat.

It does, doesn't it? Until you factor in extreme weather and the constant walking (about 30 miles on a long day, 15 or so on a short one. 5 days a week). It's really quite taxing, especially on these really hot days. Then i have to worry constantly about dehydration and heat stroke.

Don't get me wrong, it's a fairly simple and straightforward job, but can be really difficult in really hot weather. I love doing it in the cold, though.

oh thats makese sense. 15 miles on a short day. there surley can't be that many carts? what kind of store is it? I guess it must be a big one if cart-pusher is a job by itself.

I work at a Walmart Supercenter. So yeah, it's a big store. :derpe: All in all we probably have around 1000 carts, if i were to guess. Plus the lot is pretty big, so much of that walking is simply covering distance. They're estimates, though, so I'm not sure how far I really travel on a short day vs. a long day. The pedometer app on my phone said I walked about 20 miles in 5 and a half hours or so.

Me too, about 1 out of every 10,000. Those odds suck.

Yes, but those good encounters are what stand out in my mind. The others are faceless and I treat them as the job as usual.

Also, the nicest people don't generally come during the night shift. :derpe:
