Because of your experience with “non-traditional” or “Nightmare” magic, (including, but not limited to "magitech" and science) you have been summoned to Misakitonic University in Canterlot at the request of Princess Celestia to look into the whereabouts of her most faithful student, Twilight Sparkle. The Princess has recently become concerned for her student's safety due to some unsettling letters she received. That's about all you know at this point. The only other thing you know is that she has promised to reward you handsomely for your efforts. At the entrance to the grand university, a guard in the foyer asks you for your personal information, to check against “the list”. The university is known for studying "non-traditional" magic (ritual spells, magitech, and even straight science), hence the reason they were called upon to look into the situation at Ponyville. (Maybe better if I always use the same OC, if I use too many it might get confusing to both me and everyone who has RP-ed with me before.) However, he dislikes ritual spells, viewing them as "inefficient" and generally having a disadvantage against more modern magic. He is one of the top students in his class, and has a very strong mind, though his constant focus on schooling and science means he has little physical endurance. Shield enjoys reading, whether it is a textbook or a work of fiction. He also enjoys performing experiments, and thinks logically and straight-forward, rather than intuitively, though he is not averse to doing something because it "feels right" when logic fails. One of his weaknesses is that when he believes he has found the solution to a problem, he often does not bother to check and make sure that there is a better option available.

I've been making a lot more OC characters for this place than anywhere else. Usually my plan is to go "Yep! I'll just throw Kitsune at the problem". Just an interesting thought I wanted to share. Name: Follia Race: Earth Pony Special Talent/Cutie Mark: Study/ The outline of a wolf. Occupation: Professor of Magical Creatures (That is the popular and shorter name. Follia insists it should be "The Study of Creatures Capable of Various Forms of Magic" or "SCCVFM". Ponies that have a concept of what could be called 'catchy' and know latin has lead him towards 'Maguszoology'.) Background: 'Follia' is the only name this wizened old goat will actually give. He signs it on everything, addresses himself as Follia and even the staff know him only as Follia. Maybe think he's weird. Most think he's possessed by some monster that he's encountered in his travels to study interesting wildlife. Others think he's still fighting against neo-toxins from those same creatures. What's agreed is that Professor Follia isn't boring. He arrived at the start of term at the University with a cart full of cages and jars. Most were just specimens for teaching, happily sitting and watching the world go by as the cart trundles ever onwards. What is unusual, is that the deliveries of animals have never stopped. Animals large and small have passed through the office of Professor Follia and students that attend his classes have come away with some of the oddest stories. He once had jars of Parasprites and had trained them to carry him around the room. He was found chatting to a forum of bullfrogs over essay marks when a student checked in on him late one evening. He also invited some guests to play Texas Hold-Em until the wee hours of the morning. The guests included a high achieving student, a Kitsune named "Hiroto", a Griffin that insisted on being known only as "The Iron Wing", a Unicorn that gave no name but smoked cigars profusely and "Mitzy", a dog with a special spell cast upon him to play Poker. The dog cleaned up. The Unicorn had to restrain Hiroto but never thought to put the cigar out. Follia has managed to keep himself to himself and not cause trouble but the rest of the staff worry about what the reclusive weirdo does in this grotty office. Maybe getting him out and doing things will allow them to check he's not pickled one of the students or something.
Technically, it would be Magizoology, but since it's kinda sorta made up, it really doesn't matter. And IDK if you meant it this way, but Latin for "Leaf" is folium, which is very close to "Follia".
Ah, that would explain it. That word doesn't seem to be derived from Latin directly, so I was looking in a haystack for a needle that wasn't there. XD But nice word choice, lol. This RP should be interesting.
I know the feeling. You mean to give just a basic outline, but then you feel it's not enough, so you add a little more and a little more until you have a veritable Wall of Text. Wall of Text, by the way, is a 2/8 artifact with Defender-Flying. However, it can be easily countered with the Blue Instant "Too Long, Didn't Read" which removes Wall of Text from play and adds one 2/2 'Troll' counter to your field. /geek
