Why are you trying to write a song if you're so new to music? There is a lot you should learn first, but... Maybe it would be fun for you to try? Lol, I'm interested in seeing how it turns out. I'd be willing to help out. I understand Music Theory, so I can take a look at the sheets and tell you what you would need to fix. Also, I might be able to help out with some chords and such. I'm not sure if I'd be able to come up with a good melody or not, so just chords and other backgrounds. I take Music Theory classes and arrange and compose sheet music in my free time, so I know what I'm doing. Also, PM me a link to your Facebook account and I'll PM you a link to mine. We can further discuss this on there. Just make sure to let me know it's you.
Good Amin-Cmaj-Gmaj-Dmaj songs: also http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FGjCu-q-mcU&feature=related
Thanks I cant actually see the first video but is the it the same style as the second one? And if so is that the style you suggest?
The first is late 90s rock music, "Save Tonight" by Eagle-Eye Cherry I'm kind of thinking of something slowish and sad. Like the second one.
Ok. If you could send me a sheet or something I'll print it out and ask my Friend/tutor to teach me it! Thanks for all those who are wanting to help, its great and you guys are great, really
Wait, we're just going to transcribe a song and edit it to make it about pony's? I thought you meant writing from scratch, but I'd be willing to do that too. EDIT: I think I misunderstood. That late 90's "Light Rock" style you're looking for can be pretty easy to achieve, so it's probably smarter that we go for that.
I feel noobish. So transcribing is taking a song and writing it down? I thought it was just writing music. I came up with a better idea- let's get some people to each do a track on the song. I'll just do some drums or something, and if someone wants to do piano, bass, etc. they can do that, and then vocals, and then you can go crazy on the guitar.
Me? I have absolutely no idea what I'm doing, and I don't know if I'm that good. But I'll try if you want!
Yes, transcribing is listening to a song and writing down the notes. Composing is when you write a song. I can't record myself doing anything, as I don't have the proper equipment at my house to do so. So like I said before, I can help on the actual sheets themselves.
I have my Music Theory final this weekend, but that's no big deal. I'm just adding little touches after all. Backgrounds, etc. I can hit it up after my final. Also, I think we should use MuseScore as our notation software for this. It's a free software, and we'll be able to directly send each other what we have through email without having to recreate it.
